not to blow a hole in your theory but genesect could not have had a home of lotus flowers A: because earliest flowering plants only appeared 125 million years ago, B: 300 million years ago 94% of all bodies of water were salt water. meaning that genesect was far more closely related to kabutops than you may like to admit even though you kinda confirmed the genesect/kabutops theory by way of pointing out both were water dwelling scorpions... food for though.
Maybe Genesect and Kabutops were originally the same species, but evolved for different habitats. I'm thinking more in terms of the Sharpedo and Garchomp relationship when looking at these two Pokemon.
Hmmm you’ve convinced me. What if Genesect is actually Kabutop’s ancestor instead? It would explain how Kabutops became smaller over time and lost its legendary status. With the advent of paradox Pokemon, it could be explained that Genesect lives 300 millions years in the future and was so advanced that he went to the past to just chill and hang out. He saw how easy life was without technology and email and so he shed his gear and just did him. When scientist carbon-dated his fossils, they mixed up AD and BC. Seems as if Genesect was the first paradox Pokemon. Which in itself, is a paradox as well since he came before paradox Pokemon were even a thing. Gotdang, Gamefreak you did it again!
2:37 yeah, but flowers didn't exist in the paleozoic era anyway, so either the lotus flowers aren't relevant to where the genesect think their home is, or maybe, just maybe, the geological eras of the pokemon universe and their accompanying ecosystems dont match our own
Now I want to see what an unaltered Genesect would look like. Since you have made an interesting theory. What would Genesect's original form look like?
+Shadow_Thiy I'm pretty sure at 0:33 the middle one is supposed to be unaltered Genesect, and not something in between Genesect and Kabutops. Could be wrong, but it would make sense.
Shadow_Thiy Ah sorry, judging by the pokedex entry "This Pokémon existed 300 million years ago. Team Plasma altered it and attached a cannon to its back." I thought it was unaltered.
Genesect is mythical not legendary, related but still different. I'm pretty sure Genesect only became Mythical because of the alterations Team Plasma made.
The anime is not canon to the games, so this theory is already thrown out the window. Also, I doubt the anime artists knew what they were doing and just made a mistake in terms of continuity. This theory just doesn't work.
I really like all the facts and research you did. your hard work definitely paid off well done! and happy new year Ovi I look forward to another year of awesome videos and content!
I saw a theory saying that Genesect was an evolution of Parasect before they had these mushroom on their back . The evolutionnary line was this : Paras w/out Mushroom → Parasect w/out Mushroom → Genesect w/out cannon When the mushrooms infected Paras and Parasect, the final evolution stage wasn't possible to reach for the Parasects and so the Genesects died and their fossils were found later by Team Plasma that revived and modified them .
expanding upon that theory more realistically, ancient Paras could've existed before the fungus ever existed, allowing it A: slightly different appearance B:similar body structure and C: Genesect could very well be Parasect, but uninhibited by the Fungal possession for its entire life.
Huh. I already figured that they weren't the same Pokemon. One is part Water and the other is part Bug. It would be nice to see what Genesect used to look like before all of the upgrades. I honestly thought that the head shape suggested it was either an Armaldo or an ancient Yanmega. Oh well. Nice video! Hope that you two had a Merry Christmas! Have a Happy New Year!
You have pretty solid evidence. But the anime and movie are in different cannons than the games. Your theory would be more solid if we can catch a Genesect by a lake
It would be cool to be able to get genesects original form/fossil as a event/post game kinda thing. Really love fossil Pokemon and wish they add some interesting ones in gen 7
the genesect movie, right, because movies are 1, canon to the anime series, and 2, the anime series are canon to the games, (sarcasm, they are totally not to each other) so yeah, while genesect might not be kabutops, using the movies to disrpove that theory isnt exactly what i call, EVIDENCE
Well, both Genesect and Kabutops tuck their limbs to asume a similar flying and swimming form, respectively. Although Kabutops swimming form was firstly described in the gold pokedex generation and there's no actual oficial art depicting it.
maybe they were the same but different like queen to regular bee or a more dominant version of that same species and thats why the aren't the same but extremely similar and are around the same age but fresh to salt water is a good point
I watched a another video saying that genesect is not kabutops but instead is parasect, that made so little sense but this makes so much more sense due to the DIFFERENT HABITAT LOCATIONS,
So genesect is kabutops's freshwater counterpart! I never really thought of that, now I can't wait till they make a fossil Pokemon of that freshwater scorpion (I'm not good with Latin and sciency names)
One of Lockstin's recent videos says the Genesect may be a modernized Golisopod. I mean, even the color pallets match up. Same goes for their shiny forms.
thank you, that's is what i've been saying since i first saw this theory... just a little observation, don't mistake the status "legendary" when talking about theories, we usually say "legendary pokemon" to refere a unique capture pokemon in the games... as pokemon lore goes, pokemons such as mewtwo or genesect can't be legendaries because they have been created too recently and so, since not many people know about them they can't be refered as legends...
Oldest fossil of flowering plant dates back to 125 million years ago, as detailed in Flowers Modern & Ancient. www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/nature/flowers-modern-ancient.html The scene of the Genesect's home can't have been from 300 millions years ago.
Aw man I really wanted to watch that video you mentioned at the end, but I'm on an Android phone so the RUclips app doesn't display the annotation. No link in the vid description either ☹️
Good, I've been saying this for ages, the biggest evidence it's not real is this. Genesect was still always a Bug Type before Steel was added. I always assumed however that it lived on Land.
A MUCH simpler explanation, the Pokedex says Team Plasma UPGRADED the canon on its back. To UPGRADE means to take something that is ALREADY there and make it better meaning that Genesect had a canon BEFORE the upgrade whereas Kabutops did not.
Genesect could be a legendary Pokemon even though Kabutops isn't because Team Plasma changed it drastically. I still agree with the overall theory, though.
I honestly never linked kabutops and genesect, they don't really look alike and don't have a single same typing, I always thought that genesect was an altered armaldo, both are bug types and look more similar to one another than kabutops does
+RG the Awesome With the typing thing, all fossil Pokemon are part rock type, some fans claim that the rock typing is in part due to the fossil it was contained it and the Pokemon didn't necessarily have to be that type when it initially existed thousands of years ago, Kabutops could have been a bug/water type, Archeops could have been normal/flying, etc.. Although there would have been some rock types thousands of years ago, not all of the Pokemon would have been this type.
+Amy Phillips or Douglas Leon Michael okay, while that does make some sense, kabutops still doesn't look like genesect, its slightly similar, but in my opinion, not close enough, and I could use that to say the same with genesect and its rocket, that it was pure bug type without its adjustments from team plasma, which using both theories would make armaldo even more likely
RG the Awesome The body shape being a bit similar and the theory about typing and the age stated in the pokedex are pretty much all what people use to say that Genesect is a Kabutops. Other non-related Pokemon look similar, Haunter and Voltorb have the same eyes yet aren't related, Gengar and Clefable look similar, are they related? No. Some other fossil Pokemon have 100 million years stated in the Pokdex but Kabutops is the only one known to be from 300 million years ago like Genesect. Neither Armaldo nor it's pre evolution Anorith have ages stated making them also possibilities for Genesect pre-modification, unless a future Pokedex entry states a different age. Genesect could also be a modified version of a different Pokemon entirely that no one else knows about because Team Plasma could have had the only known fossil. The issue with any theory into what Genesect initially was is that Gamefreak have not commented on it and said which one Genesect was before it was Genesect. All we definately know about what it was like pre-modification is: it was alive 300 million years ago and it was fully or partly bug type (steel could be attributed to the modification).
+Amy Phillips or Douglas Leon Michael you mentioned that just because they look alike, doesn't mean they're connected, which is true, but also point out their similarities in appearance, and even IF and this is a big if kabutops would've been bug water, there's no possible way of genesect being a water type, and just because armaldo/anorith don't mention when they were around doesn't mean they weren't at that time, plus, as stated in this video, they could've just been around at the same time, but at different areas, and yeah, there is a chance of genesect being its own pokemon species and that team plasma is the only one to encounter a fossil, that seems like a big stretch as fossils are found all over the place in the pokemon world
+RG the Awesome plus the pokedex has stated that while rare, there are still occurrences of kabuto being found in the wild, this would mean the kabuto line is really rock water, which limits the possibility of a connection between kabutops and genesect
I see your evidence but one striking thing is that when you say that kabutos is a fossil pokemon and genesect is not...wellll....that kinda bunked me. Because it was made FROM a fossil. As in it took things from the pokemon and made it better more so to say. And that torse part? well that could be the spine only, and the spine only could mean that that pokemon or kabutos or anything that genesect could be had a soft belly, and during this special revival was removed. And I should say that the height may or may not be a factor because the pokemon was modifed probablt making its height taller to look more menacing or was to hold that big cannon. BUT i CAN agree that genesect has very little evidence on being kabutops....so GREAT THEORY..just look at things from a what if or what about this insted of this is. Your on the right track....
they probably shaved the edges off kobutops to make it fit in the genesect suit and made a few more details and genesect is a mythical pokemon not a legendary see you later .
But that not entirely true where do fresh water fish come from..... The evolution of salt water fish that adapted to fresh water so basically with no big predators the kabuto migrated due to weather or food to fresh water and grew in size to become a genesect so it should be the third in the kabuto evolution... The theory holds up because that's after water scorpions evolved to breath air they moved to the land attacking the first amphibious life... Check it out and get back to me and if you find this fact true would mind a shout out..
The scorpion is one of the first Arthropoda to go to the surface and supposedly they are the ancestors of modern spiders and the water scorpions are the ancestors to lobsters and crabs... Which means that this is a branch evolution tree to your big types.
But the time thing could be like Kabutops lived 300 million years ago resurrected and made some modifications which would make sense for genesect to have lived around 300 million years ago, 1 point of this vid that doesn't make sense is how can they be related 1 is legendary/mythical the other is non legendary, ditto is the failed clones of mew, mew is a legendary/mythical so does that mean that all ditto are legendary because they came from a legendary but the habitats is the only thing that makes sense
+Ovi i really dont get how people came up with that theorie similar body structure ? not even close their head is the same size but thats allready it the limps'look very different and yeah maybe they changed its limps'in a laboratorium but the torso is also much different and a torso is the core part of the body

Yeah I don't think the anime cares about the consistency of Genesect's habitat. Also just because it is based on a non-ocean residing animal (which you didn't actually prove, you were theorising Genesect's origin due to the lotus flower thing) doesn't mean team Plasma had edited the original Pokemon so that it may now live in fresh water instead of or in salt water. If it's not Kabutops (which I'm pretty sure it is) then what else is it?
Btw you shouldve expanded on the point that genesect was created by humans from the fossil pokemon kabutops thats why it is a semi robotic type pokemon already.. that's the one you shouldve focused on because its what most people think as well that genesect is enhance and created by humans from kabutops.. sorry for being redundant hahahaha

To be perfectly fair, it may have been called a legendary pokemon only after Plasma's alterations.

OOOOOMMMMMMMGGGGGGGG
+Bubbly Adlos whaaaaaaaaat????:(
I literally learn more from your videos, Ovi, then I do from my school. That should be impossible... But I applaud each video.

This really gives some info on the theory of Genesect and Kabutops. Nice Video this really helped to explain things
I really like all the facts and research you did. your hard work definitely paid off well done! and happy new year Ovi I look forward to another year of awesome videos and content!
so the whole prove is based on a movie that alot dont approve to be cannon...but a great theory

sadly the theory isn't on RUclips anymore .
+PokéCraft1342[TheDevilLuxray]{TheMetalCrobat}(ßøñšåðæčπэ) that's really interesting
Arceus Zekrom I found the video with the theory, by the way.
expanding upon that theory more realistically, ancient Paras could've existed before the fungus ever existed, allowing it A: slightly different appearance B:similar body structure and C: Genesect could very well be Parasect, but uninhibited by the Fungal possession for its entire life.
TheÆtherPlayer/Azωת I just watched that I honestly think it was stupid
I think Genesect is the evolution of Parasect XD
Question what would the original genesect looked like 0.0?
Huh. I already figured that they weren't the same Pokemon. One is part Water and the other is part Bug.
It would be nice to see what Genesect used to look like before all of the upgrades.

Very clever, nice job guys!

One of Lockstin's recent videos says the Genesect may be a modernized Golisopod. I mean, even the color pallets match up. Same goes for their shiny forms.
The movie could have been the error with the plant.
notice, in the kalos dex it says the cannon was "upgraded" this means it was there originally :0
I know this is old but Black and White 2.
"This Pokémon existed 300 million years ago. Team Plasma altered it and attached a cannon to its back.".
thank you, that's is what i've been saying since i first saw this theory...

Good old Genesect! Kinda wish it had something involved with Gen 6. But oh well.
the front of gesect's face looks like a corvette
I beleive than genesect is just another ancient pokemon that got a steel shell
merry christmas! I still need to wait 2 more weeks for mine,
Assuming there were tons of wild Genesect, this should have made it so that there would be tons now. However, what about divergent evolution?
I've never believed the kabutops theory anyway.
genesect is considered legendary because it's been genetically modified just like mewtwo was. That was my thought process
Why aren't Porygon or Castform legendary then?
Porygon evolves. And castform is in the same ship as unown
+Mathinus Wolters Genesect has the overall better stats to back it up.
Mmm, me pusiste a pensar, buen trabajo (siempre te hablaré en español para que me recuerdes 😂)
Thanks for making me regret making a Kabutops, Genesect fusion :|
Aw man I really wanted to watch that video you mentioned at the end, but I'm on an Android phone so the RUclips app doesn't display the annotation. No link in the vid description either ☹️

i made studied this theory and figured out that genesect could actually be a scyther
+Ruby, Ruler of Mudkip oops (no i made)
Genesect is actually a Genesect!!!
BOOM! mind is blown
i think genesect is a clone that something went wrong with when making of a kabutops
Sea lilies do exist in the Pokemon world (Lileep)
love that song...
Genesect could be a legendary Pokemon even though Kabutops isn't because Team Plasma changed it drastically. I still agree with the overall theory, though.
hahahha I am Still FIRST lol
Mery Christmas ovi love u
Hey, Ovi! I actually just watched this theory on another channel yesterday. How coincidental. I liked your video first at least. :P
+xXbarellrollshrekXx merry xmas!
+The Productions Of oh really , what a small world lol
+Ovi This is what I think. It's a Paras. Like +The Productions Of I've seen this theory before. I think you should check it out.

it was tat crab pokemon rightwith the mushrooms
Also since Plasma MODIFIED the cannon on genesect, and not added it, this mean that it cant be kabutops. He doesnt have a cannon
Wow you are right, but what would the cannon originally look like?
Brandon Bayot No idea since it kind of hangs off his back. i have trouble envisioning it myself.
Interesting theory...
that's what I always thought
I like genesect and your RAIY man
I see your evidence but one striking thing is that when you say that kabutos is a fossil pokemon and genesect is not...wellll....that kinda bunked me. Because it was made FROM a fossil. Genesect is NOT Kabutops? Well no shit, and guess what Dedenne isn't pikachu either.
they probably shaved the edges off kobutops to make it fit in the genesect suit and made a few more details and genesect is a mythical pokemon not a legendary see you later .
which i assume they cut off the edges so that it can assume its "High speed flight" mode
Am I the only one who thinks genesect looks like an ant?
So are you suggesting that Genesect is related to Durant? That would actually make for a good theory
Great video!
Why didn't you put Feat. Axellian in the title?
But that not entirely true where do fresh water fish come from..... Genesects is a scizor because look at the lower boday... and scizor's foot looks like genesects arms...
Transition between Kabutops and Bug Pokemon?
Genesect is a mutated kabutops
Cool video.
But the time thing could be like
Kabutops lived 300 million years ago resurrected and made some modifications which would make sense for genesect to have lived around 300 million years ago, 1 point of this vid that doesn't make sense is how can they be related 1 is legendary/mythical the other is non legendary, ditto is the failed clones of mew, mew is a legendary/mythical so does that mean that all ditto are legendary because they came from a legendary but the habitats is the only thing that makes sense
good 2 know
So, Genesect is a Mirelurk?
Horseshoe crabs still exist... I've seen some. :-\
+Owen Owenator I got to touch one at the aquarium.
***** I've done that too!
i thought that he was a cockroach
moo moo moo i dow now wiu
2:42 what's that fossil pokèmon? Haha.
Why is Genesect the same height as me?
We have the same name but just.... backwards
Mery Christmas 😛

+Ovi just saying the truth
+Ovi i really dont get how people came up with that theorie
similar body structure ?
not even close
their head is the same size but thats allready it
the limps'look very different

and a torso is the core part of the body
genesect is a mythical Pokemon
if he were legendary there will only be one and no baby lugia was not cannon
mythical means that there are some Pokemon that are the same but they are extremely rare
i choose to belive that genesect use to be a member of the paras family

Your argument about being a Legendary doesn't check out because that's maybe just the modern form
Eh I disagree. Kabutops could travel and adapt to fresh water with mutations. Also, that is wimpod.
But movies are not canon sooooooooo... Im still attaching the other theory
Genesect was a mythical
kabutops and genesect are cousins!!!
Genisect is a mythical Pokemon, not legendary.
cool
Genesect is a mythical Pokémon not a legendary
genesct is legendary
The anime is not cannon what so ever and has nothing to due with any theory
They are cusons they are related
