There's some slight misinformation in the ad segment. "Whenever you connect to the web, you send out countless pieces of unencrypted information for everyone to see." In the right circumstances, yes. However, as most websites and apps are encrypted by HTTPS, your information being sent out to anyone else is false. The only time you send out information others can view is when you connect to a website, as your IP is checked by the website owners, as well as the website you visited, checked by your internet service provider, or ISP. "Also, your ISP can still see what sites you're visiting, and legally send that data to advertisers." Yes, this is true. But the only thing your ISP can see is the domain name, for example, youtube.com. They can't see /watch?v=fJ7FeoDwFro or anything like that, just the domain name. However, your ISP can see the entire link if the website isn't encrypted with HTTPS, and as we've already went over, most are. They can also see the contents of very old websites, but it's usually nothing important. Now, selling your data to advertisers is a serious matter, and your ISP can do that depending on the country you live in. For that reason, investing in a VPN might be a smart choice. But even then, all you're doing is changing who can see the small amounts of data you do send. Your ISP can't, but the VPN can. "A VPN provides a private connection and a virtual server that prevents anyone like governments, ISPs and hackers connected to the same network as you from taking a look at the info you're sending out into the world wide web." All your connections are private by default. Your router is already very likely in a secure format, such as WPA or WPA2. This makes it very difficult for hackers to even get in to your router in the first place (though not impossible, just unlikely). Additionally, websites encrypted with HTTPS already send your data through an encrypted tunnel. A VPN just sends you through another alongside HTTPS. The claim isn't wrong at all, but it ends up having very little effect. If you really trust a VPN company with the same data as you're already sending to your ISP and website owners, and the VPN doesn't keep logs or destroys logs after a period of time, then by all means, invest in one. A proper VPN has no downsides, outside of making your browser a bit slower. Then again, downloading Tor is free and offers even more encryption, so pick whatever.
pretty sure it's a pre-made ad, like those Raid Shadow Legends one, where the company explicitly goes "hey, talk about the graphics, and the guild you made", so it's more the company's fault
I see someone had to take a Security+ exam recently lmao. To be fair, free VPNs are more than likely installing spyware to sell your information, the same way free antiviruses do, so paid for VPNs are usually better. Also, this guy is just reading an ad-read and more than likely doesn't even know how it works
surprised that shift gear wasn't mentioned at all. I know it was an event exclusive move but considering it's just a better rock polish i felt like that would've given it some warrant to talk about
Apparently it was locked to a hasty genisect since I only watch these videos for fun and don’t know how natures work, I don’t know what that really means, but it’s apparently bad...
Hasty wasn't that bad. It raises Speed and lowers Defense, which is what mixed attackers like to pick a lot of the time. It's just that setup moves are incompatible with Choice Scarf.
It's a shame that techno blast isn't good. I love signature moves, and it's always a shame if they're bad. If I were to try and fix it, I'd do two things. One, make it steel instead of normal. Signature attacks should be stab, that just makes sense. Two, make the drives a key item instead of a held item. Consolidate them into something like a "drive case", which you can then use on genesect to change the drive type. Now it can utilize the douse drive without having to give up scarf/life orb/ whatever you want on it.
It got a boost in power rivaling the former power of Fire Blast, Thunder, Blizzard and Hydro Pump. I recall it doing more damage with Fire Type Techno Blast than a Life Orb boosted Flamethrower. But I doubt GF would give it any further of a power boost to make it worthwhile. I mean who runs the signature moves of the Latis?
@@M3rtyville it did get boosted, but it still doesn't see much play. I don't really see it getting buffed again either, but I would like to. It's a legendary, it really should have a powerful move.

Genesect's counters in OU: None, maybe Heatran or some sort of Fire type... Unless it runs Water Techno-Blast or HP Ground, in that case it is uncounterable Genesect's counters in Ubers: EVERYTHING. Bruh, even Xerneas (weak to Steel) counters it. Well, at least in Gen V Ubers it is pretty good
Genesect was pretty easy to counter... if you guessed the set correctly. What got it banned was not how powerfull it was.. it got banned because it was too versatile on top of having decent stats. There where far stronger Pokemon then Genesect but they only had 1 maximum 2 viable sets. Genesect had 4+ and if you guessed wrong it was game over.

This is legitimately one of the Pokemon I want the most! Yet, mythicals are oftentimes way too hard to get. When I was younger, Arnold Schwarzenegger and all of his movies (especially the Terminator) were some of my favorite things to watch, and he was my favorite actor. I love the little nods to him in this video.
Before gen 5 there were 3 consistently good bug types: heracross, scizor, and forretress. Two of these are also steel types. Bugs developed a reputation as cannon fodder for a reason - it took power creep to fix that problem.
No, they're really not. Fighting and Ground resistance is nice, but still doesn't save Bug from being easily one of the worst typings in the game, and it takes mons with especially good stats and strong secondary typings to be able to rise above that handicap to be good. Outside of U-turn, a lot of the best ones don't even run their Bug STAB much anymore because the coverage is so bad.
Not gonna lie, I thought the Gene in Genesect's name referred to genocide. And I thought that this robot bug aims to wipe up some sort of civilization. Then I learned that it refers to genes, since Genesect can change type according to the drive that it's holding.
Gen 5 Genesect and Zacian are the pure definition of what happens when you give a Pokemon excellent coverage on top of an ability that boosts their best stat when switched in and Zacian takes that to extreme levels, even in the Hero form because of held items. Then you have Zamazenta who... Is outclassed as a wall by Eternatus. Despite being the Shield Pokemon. Also, from what I hear Hero Zamazenta is actually better in almost, if not, every possible way than Crowned. That’s sad.
believe it or not, now that both zacian forms have been banned, now zam-crowned has found more of a concrete niche, bc it's able to check yveltal and it's blazing fast speed and decent attack allows it to pose a decent thread that is not paper thing... it also checks other annoyances such as eternatus, zekrom, Garmanitan, choice band weavile, and necrozma-dusk-mane ,and it is one of the very few pokemons in the game that without defense evs, can withstand a choice specs astral barrage from calyrex-shadow

Wow, I was very disappointed by Genesect's performance. Whenever Gen 5 Ubers was discussed, Gensect was mentioned. I thought it was a god there but turns out it was just spamming U Turn and once things got bulkier, it just dropped out of favour. I also thought this was going to be extremely long with all it's drives but apparently it never used them. Side Note: I found it will be Bug funny there at the end.
@@murlocmaster6192 My man what you are referring to is viability. Sure it is better than all mons that are OU. But what I was talking about was performance. It never really saw the light of day because of being stuck in middle of OU and Ubers. It was just a forgotten mon that nobody was using. In this regard something like Kangaskhan is better because she dominated whatever lower tier she ended up falling in. She had a much better performance in say PU than Genesect did in Ubers. It is really just my opinion but I feel a mon has a better history if it is good in it's own tier even if it is a lower tier than something that is not that good in a higher tier.
@@togakhan1274 first of all, did we watch the same video? Also it wasent stuck in ou, for a brief period it WAS ou. So stupid busted that all bowed to it. Genesect is one of those Pokémon whose history reinforces the idea that there should be a new tier between OU and Uber, where the least powerful Ubers and most powerful OU should reside. That'd make bad Ubers like Reshiram or Genesect and eternal UUBLs like Weavile or Staraptor much more used.
That just defeats the purpose of both ou and ubers. If there were a new Smogon tier, just add zu, if there is already enough strong Pokemon down there, such as Kangaskhan, Alcremie, Altaria, Alolan Sandslash, Tangela, they shouldn’t have to be burdened with the “Untiered” label. Also ZU has a good active player base so that wouldn’t be a problem.

I was very alone on this front but when Gen 7 rolled around, I was juuuuust getting into competitive mons and tried to climb the showdown Ubers ladders a few times. To counteract the maaaaaassively popular Ultra Necrozma, I would almost always run a scarf Genesect solely for it alone. Max special attack max speed modest with bug buzz, ice beam (solely for mega mence checking before it sets up a DD), Thunderbolt and flash cannon. This set was NOT ground breaking because even modest nature could sometimes fail to 2HKO what it needed, but it was nice and niche enough. I usually ran it with both primals to be extremely safe it could switch in depending on the mon. Past that I would build different setups.
How good was bug steel actually? Scizor, Fortress,Durant,Genesect prove yes it was VERY good. Man I forgot about this mon but I would like this for Pokken or a Pokken two Sorry Escaviler Wormadam...why?
Despite the occasional scripting mistakes this video is one of the most thorough I've seen in a good long time. The gen 5 segment even gave some really great insight on item bluffing and the optimization of Life Orb on set up sweepers, both of which are things that I've never really understood very well. Even mentioning Techno Blast and Douse Drive for both its coverage and Knock Off resist is really great. Its a pity this thing has a hard time fitting into a tier and its constant shifting makes Pokemon like Darkrai and Mega Kangaskan feel really jealous in gen 7
14:41 Wait a minute, if Genesect was using Douse Drive in those clips, why isn't it showing up in the model? I thought the orange-ish casette on its back is supposed to change color depending on which Drive you're holding. On another note, it's a shame that Genesect's Techno Blast and Drives were so horribly implemented. Seriously, what were they thinking giving Genesect multiple "form changes" and an exclusive move that changes type, but you have to sacrifice an item slot to do so? They really should've just let you install the Drives as key items or something, letting you alter Genesect's forms in a way more akin to Deoxys, rather than being held items. And even worse, Techno Blast was a friggin' 85 power move back in its debut generation, so installing a Drive essentially gives you just an aesthetic change and an exclusive move that's actually worse than Flamethrower, Thunderbolt, or Ice Beam, all of which it could learn (though once again, Douse Drive was the outlier). At least raising it to 120 was somewhat sensible (pretty much giving you a pre-nerfed Fire Blast, Thunder, or Blizzard with 100% accuracy), but really, considering this is an exclusive move that's guaranteed to never have STAB, and sacrifices an item slot to be any type besides Normal, would anyone object to it having a BP more like 140 or something? Hell, fellow gen5 mythical Victini got V-Create, one of the more spammable nukes in the game, and that's a solid 180 BP, AND it gets STAB.
I agree. Giving up an item for coverage isn't that great, especially when you already have 3/4 of the options regularly. The fact that you also can tell what type of drive it has also makes it much more predictable. A. you know it's not running scarf or a boosting item, letting you deal with it much easier, 2. you know the extra coverage it has, so something like heatran wouldn't be surprised by douse drive. The only time you send out information others can view is when you connect to a website, as your IP is checked by the website owners, as well as the website you visited, checked by your internet service provider, or ISP.
"Also, your ISP can still see what sites you're visiting, and legally send that data to advertisers."
Yes, this is true.
"A VPN provides a private connection and a virtual server that prevents anyone like governments, ISPs and hackers connected to the same network as you from taking a look at the info you're sending out into the world wide web."
All your connections are private by default.
Thanks for the info, good stuff to know
pretty sure it's a pre-made ad, like those Raid Shadow Legends one, where the company explicitly goes "hey, talk about the graphics, and the guild you made", so it's more the company's fault

I love seeing Bug-Type representation. They're better than most people give them credit for.
What about Yanmega?

Not gonna lie, I thought the Gene in Genesect's name referred to genocide. And I thought that this robot bug aims to wipe up some sort of civilization.
Then I learned that it refers to genes, since Genesect can change type according to the drive that it's holding.
Just in case you misunderstood the drives, they change the type, on it's signature move, Technoblast, not on Genesect itself.
I thought it refered to genesis. Since it's a prehistoric Pokemon being reborn into a new beginning.
If it refers to genes, it should be pronounced Gene-sect (genes+insect), not "Genosect".
I don't blame you for initially thinking that, considering how seemingly most people (including Kellen himself) pronounce the thing's name

Even mentioning Techno Blast and Douse Drive for both its coverage and Knock Off resist is really great. Its a pity this thing has a hard time fitting into a tier and its constant shifting makes Pokemon like Darkrai and Mega Kangaskan feel really jealous in gen 7
Lmao never knew Latin twins was a threat against genesect
*But For Real So Hilarious When He Misspells Words*
Words can’t describe the excitement that I felt when I saw this pop up, FINALLY THE BUG GETS ITS ROSES
(also nice laharl pfp!)
