I think Parasect wouldn't have existed without the mushrooms. I think the evolution originally went paras->genesect but because of the mushrooms its growth was stunted and it now only becomes parasect.

Interesting theory! Now, I am going to take this to a hole new stage. What if Dwebble is a Paras, but it protects itself from the parasite by wearing the rock. So when it started to be a problem for the paras, some paras started to wear rocks, and didn't get infected. Then the dwebbles would later became it's own species! Maybe?

    • @-Archant
      @-Archant 8 лет назад +1

They aren't ultra beasts. Dialga and Palkia, and of course Giratina can travel to the normal world and their own dimension when they want either. So can Lunala and Solgaleo. Arceus, which is a Mythical pokemon, can aswell travel trough his own dimension and the normal one. nything about necrozma isn't rlly explained tough. But what i want to say here is that many legendary pokemon can travel trough dimensions.

    • @-Archant
      @-Archant 8 лет назад +1

    • @Skallva

CrossPlays I would not call Arceus a Mythical Pokémon.
He's a literal Pokémon God and a part of Sinnoh mythology. If his disciples have all the rights to be called Legendaries, why shouldn't he?

    • @siggy3905
      @siggy3905 7 лет назад +2

Lemme explain what a mythical pokemon is.
There are two different classifications of Legendary pokemon. There are regular legendaries, which you find in the games, such as Reshiram or Zapdos, but there are also mythical pokemon, which cannot be found in the games, but can only be obtained in events. The requirements for a pokemon to be legendary are the same as the requirements to be a mythical pokemon, excluding that mythical pokemon have to only be obtained from events. Both Regular Legendaries and Mythical pokemon need a base stat total over 600. Both normally can only be obtained once, except for a few occasions. So, in a nutshell, Mythical pokemon are essentially a sub-classification of legendary pokemon. Basically, you can call them either legendary or mythical.
      List of Regular Legendary pokemon:
      Articuno
      Zapdos
      Moltres
      Mewtwo
      Ho-Oh
      Lugia
      Entei
      Raikou
      Suicune
      Groudon
      Kyogre
      Rayquaza
Deoxys (Used to be mythical, but not anymore)
      Latios
      Latias
      Palkia
      Dialga
      Giratina
      Heatran
      Regirock
      Registeel
      Regice
      Regigas
      Reshiram
      Zekrom
      Kyurem
      Xerneas
      Yveltal
      Zygarde
      Solgaleo
      Lunala
      List of Mythical Pokémon:
      Mew
      Celebi
      Shaymin
      Arceus
Manaphy(?) (Can be obtained by transferring it from the Pokémon Ranger game)
      Genesect
      Victini
      Diancie
      Hoopa
      Volcanion
      Marshadow

The problem with why kabutops isn't a bug type is that kabutops may not have always been rock type. Almost (if not all) fossil Pokemon have the rock type because they're fossils, but kabutops could have been water and bug but now is rock because of being brought back from a fossil.

  • @Illusn
    @Illusn 9 лет назад +16

This makes a lot more sense than the Kabutops theory. This seems like it could be the actual answer. It could also be a evolved form of a different pokemon that was the ancestor to Paras and Parasect. Great theory.

One thing that is very annoying about Genesect is that the Pokedex says it both had a cannon orignally, and that it was given a cannon. What?!

    • @ViewerOnline101
      @ViewerOnline101  3 года назад +1

It may have had some kind of cannon or something like Blastoise does, and it was just given some super technological one with different drives in its place when it was resurrected and upgraded.

For some reason I'm unable to respond to comments for this video, I keep getting an error message. If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know.
This is in response to Ramza Beoulves
This is just a theory, not an established fact. However, the evidence does add up and support it, providing a reason for how and why Paras and Parasect started their relationship with their mushrooms, and how it relates to Genesect, and along with how and why it explains the disappearance of the original Genesect. Sure there are some holes, but all theories, even the theory of evolution in the read world, have holes. This is why they're theories and not facts.
As for proof that Paras and Parasect existed 300 million years ago, well, since Pokemon is fictional, there is no actual proof. But then again, there's no proof he didn't either. But if you relate it to the real world, giant insect were around during that era, and Paras, Parasect, and Genesect are all giant insects. But like I said, it's just a theory.

Hell, there was even a commercial recently for the mythical Pokemon pack, and Arceus was in it. However much we think or prefer otherwise (including me) Arceus is a mythical pokemon.

This might be true, and it could also be the other way around. Team Plasma probably had to obtain old DNA because the Pokèmon it once was is impossible to see today. If so, they may have made mistakes, as their analyzing process was different then the one used at places in-game where you can revive Fossil Pokèmon. This would explain things, and if it once was a Kabutops it would explain the Bug typing.

4:30 Of course there are multiple legendary Pok'emon, aside from a few, most legendaries exist in multiples.
    1 of a Kind legendaries:
Mewtwo (might actually be 2 of a kind, as the one from Kalos might be a different individual from the one from Kanto, since the Kalos one is voiced by a female in the Genesect Movie, and of Mewtwo's other appearances in the anime have had male VA's)
Suicune, Raikou, Entei (pok'emon revived by Ho-Oh and given new forms, explanation for being in multiple games is from their in game lore, which have many Pok'e Dex entries saying they travel the world)
Ho-Oh (Fucking god bird, self explanatory. Lugia on the other hand may exist in mutliples, as there are 3 recorded individuals anime wise, the one from the second movie, and the two from whirl islands, one of which was a baby, showing there is a breeding population for them anime wise at least)
Celebi (can exist in multiples due to creating time paradox's with it's powers. but they are all the same individual, just from different moments in time that traveled to the same moment in time)
Groudon (may have existed as multiples in the past, due to the jirashi wish maker movie having a mutant clone revived from a fossil, and the silver version remake having 1 just so gen 4 players who didn't have access to gen 3 could get 1, but canonically, there is only 1)
Kyogre (same as Groudon, should only be 1, but the Gold version remake added one in a place it shouldn't exist)
Jirachi (nothing proves it isn't 1 of kind, it also sleeps for 1000 years and only wakes for seven days (unless caught by a trainer), so it's likely to be 1 of a kind)
Regigigas (created the other regis (in multiples), most likely 1 of a kind, possible that there are a multiples, but only a handful, cannonically only 1 should exist)
Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Mesprit, Azelf, Uxie (all created by Arceus. all 1 of a kind, the mesprit, uxie and azelf from B2W2 are the same ones from Unova. The game states they cave where mesprit was first encountered is somehow connected to Unova. the egg versions of Dialga, Palkia and Giratina in HGSS can be explained as back-up copies hidden away by Arceus, because god can do whatever he wants)
Darkrai (most likely 1 of a kind, nothing to prove otherwise though)
    Crescelia (same as darkrai)
Arceus (fucking god, clearly 1 of a kind)
Torandus, Thunderus, Landorus (lore wise they are all 1 of kind. and in game, the only extra copies exist in OrAs due to Hoopa's interference)
Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, Keldeo (most likely 1 of a kind. nothing to prove otherwise)
    Meloetta (same as above)
Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem (all the same legendary Pok'e Mon lore wise, clearly a unique pok'e mon)
Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde (1 of a kind period, should not exist in multiples. though Zygarde can split into multiple individuals, it's all the same pok'e mon)
Hoopa (nothing to confirm it isn't unique)
    Multiple Legendaries:
Mew (ancestor of all pok'e mon, most likely exists in multiples and are really good at hiding. probably existed in large numbers in times long forgotten (before even fossil pok'e mon started roaming around))
    Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres
Lugia (at least 3 individuals exist, as stated above)
    Regirock, Registeel, Regice
Latios, Latias (they had a dad in the 5th movie)
Deoxys (2 confirmed to exist thanks to the 7th movie. ORAS hints that the deoxys from the delta episode was coming to earth for a specific reason, which if the movie is any indicator, was it searching for it's friend)
Manaphy, Phione (8th Movie shows multiple Manaphy at the end. Phione is born from Manapy eggs, so multiples of both must exist)
Shaymin (Giratina Movie shows multiples exist)
Heatran (can be male or female. even though they can't breed, this shows they definitely exist in multiples deep underground in magma filled chambers)
Gensect (at least 5 exist in modern times, including 1 shiny)
Diancie (Diancie are mutated Carbink, and the Carbink treat them like royalty. Diancie isn't 1 of a kind, just incredibly rare, hence the legndary status)
    Unknown Status:
    Victini
    Meloetta
    Volcanion
    Non-Legendary with Legendary Status:
    Solrock, Lunatone (X-Legendary)
Arcanine (once thought to be legendary, then they realized growlithe evolves via fire stone)
    Dratini, Dragonair, Dragonite (Incredible rare)
Unown (living hieroglyphs... too weak to be legendary though
Volcarona (when sun disappeared, it used it's heat to become the sun... pretty badass bug if i do say so myself)
Rotom (might have been originally planned to be a legendary, but was scrapped since gen 4 had so many legendaries already. can only be obtained post game through a specific method until gen 6)
Psuedo-Legendary: (base stat total = 600 when in it's final evolution, usually rare to find/ evolve at high levels or both)
Dratini Line (hard to find. Evolves late)
Larvitar Line (hard to find. Evolves late)
Bagon Line (hard to find. Evolves Late)
Beldum Line (until gen 5, could only be obtained from events or from Steven in RSE after defeating the elite four and champion)
    Gible Line (hard to find)
    Deino Line (evolves Late)
Larvesta Line (obtain larvesta as egg post game, or interact with Volcarona in ruins. can not be find in the wild in any game. Evolves late)
Goomy Line (evolves late and via an annoying method for it's final evo)

+David Parisi It depends on if we're simply talking anime, or video games really.
Anime wise there's 3 Lugia (or two if you discount all the movies due to never being referenced, aside from the first movie), but game wise there would be 1. Same with Mewtwo, but I'm prettyy sure they just ignored the first ever existed.

    • @retiredwestbrookfan6049
      @retiredwestbrookfan6049 9 лет назад +1

+NeoBlitz13 in my opinion, i think their might be either two or three rayquazas because one was shown in the hoopla movie and it was shiny but the other was in the deoxys movie, and another was shown in the anime show. It has to be at least two because one is shiny and the other isn't.

You have a far point, but Team Plasma basically cloned them the same way they cloned Mewtwo, they just made several modifications. So even if Genesect is the 3rd evolutionary stage, the clone of them would still be young at some point as it grew and developed, same as Mewtwo.
There was another example of this in the anime. In Mewtwo Returns, there are baby Nidoqueen seen when they should have been Nidoran girls. This could suggest that cloned Pokemon are possibly "locked" in the evolutionary stage they were cloned from and even give birth to babies in that level too.

Good fact^^ but it´s weird because Genesect had memorys from its ´´1st live´´ and Mewtwo nothing. But both were cloned//reconstructed the same way. Funny, is not it?

Or it could be that Paras' original second evolution was meant to stand upright or resemble something similar to it's final evolve Genesect, but when the mushrooms took over, they're presence caused it to instead develop into a Parasect, since paras' claws closely resemble Genesect, but Parasect's claws are utterly changed (more like crab claws), and it looks like it could no longer evolve to walk upright or gain claws similar to Genesect. So the mushroom helped Paras survive, but in the process, utterly changed it's evolution chain, while at the same time causing Genesects to go extinct since it forcefully changed what paras evolved into.

    • @ViewerOnline101
      @ViewerOnline101  9 лет назад

I disagree with this theory. Parasect is a zombie that was taken over by the mushroom on its back. The evolutionary line of Paras to Parasect is about the fungus taking control, and it would not be able to evolve beyond Parasect (unless Mega). I think if this theory held any water it would more likely be a different evolution of Paras, much like how Slowpoke, Poliwhirl, Kirlia, Snover, etc. have multiple evolutions, that it cannot do anymore as the fungus is forcing it into Parasect and infecting all newborns with its sproes.

    • @ViewerOnline101

Yes, NOW he is. The theory is that 300 millions years ago, he could evolve into Genesect. But since he formed a relationship with his mushrooms, which (according to the PokeDex and other sources), he had his growth stunted, nutrients from his body sucked out, was completely taken over by the mushroom, etc, becoming a zombie, he LOST his ability to evolve. Thus Genesect stopped appearing and became extinct.

Good theory. Well explained too. As for Kabutops' rock typing.... isn't it just 'cuz he got revived from a fossil ? I mean, fossils all have a rock typing. Highly doubt all of them were rock type bac in their day. So the part where "Can't see why it would go from rock/water to bug" kida doesn't make sense. For all we know, it could have been bug/water back in the day, and lost the bug typung due to being revived from well... a rock. Anyway, the paras thingy makes more sense. Still doubt the thing was called "genesect" back then. The "gene" part really makes it sound like it was given in modern times due to team plasma tinkering with the actual genes of the revived pokemon.

Your theory is spot on. But a shellfish is essentially a water bug type. A roach and a shrimp are related. So kabutops changing type isn't completely unfounded. But your theory is pretty undeniable. The creators don't put all the details out, but they leave enough breadcrumbs for us to follow. Japanese people are generally better than us in the art of story telling and filling in the behind the scenes details. Good Job!

  • @albert6049

I laughed so hard when the idea was first mentioned in the video! xD
Looking at the Gen 7 movesets of the two, they seem to somewhat mirror each other from lvl 6~66, mainly differing because Genesect is a manmade killing machine, whereas Parasect relies on its moves to protect itself. This also explains Genesect learning Hyper Beam and Self-destruct at levels 73 and 77.
Also Parasect is based on Cicadas. Cicadas were around 200 million years ago.

    • @gabrielbost8281
      @gabrielbost8281 3 года назад

@@gabrielbost8281 To be fair, all bugs ARE in the same evolutionary line, IRL.
But talking seriously, when I heard of this Genesect theory, it hit me cause they had similar names -sect/insect, and upon checking I found they had similar movepools. Specifically stuff like metal claw, etc. If you look for mons that can learn metal claw and fell stinger, you only get these two (search done via Pokemon Showdown). There are other search combinations that only result in a a few similar 'evolutionary line' results.

  • @themoagoddess1820
    @themoagoddess1820 8 лет назад

my own theory has to do with the life extending properties of the Paras-Parasect line's mushrooms (which is information I found on bulbapedia) and that originally Paras(specifically Paras' ancestors since the mushrooms define what we now call Paras) would eventually evolve into Genesect's unmodified form at a similar level to when Larvesta becomes Volcarona, but the life-expectancy of a Paras gradually became shorter and shorter and it became nearly impossible for them to evolve into Genesect(which shortened their life-expectancies even further without big sibling Genesect to protect them). eventually, their life-expectancy became so short that the life extending mushrooms that would subsume them when they died(and thus, became Parasect) became the only thing that could prevent them from becoming extinct.

Wouldnt it make more sense that Armaldo is related to genesect?
In the movie we clearly see that Genesects ancient home was mostly a marshy, swampy area thats surrounded by rocky spires. Sure, Paras/Parasect could live in such areas, but in the dex entries, we have evidence that states that Anorith/Armaldo often inhabited these places. Armaldo's dex entry even states that it evolved legs to be better suited at living on land. it makes more sense to replace the rock typing with metal when upgrading Armaldo into gensect, rather than having some unknown evolution of parasect, or in kabutops, replacing both typings entirely..

The information on it clearly says that the only alteration made to it is the addition of the cannon on it's back so it was always a Genesect not a different Pok'emon. The body always looked that way because it says nothing about adding metal armor to the Pok'emon, it's just exactly what you see except without the cannon.
