Another great video, it's always great to see you and Wiley out here getting the old trucks and equipment started up and running . Take care and stay safe out there working on the trucks and equipment . 🤗👍❤️💫
Hello my friend i'm Brazilian i Live in ponta grossa paraná i'm always watching your vídeos very cool What you do give life to these abandoned vehicles a hug my friend.
Great video! I agree with the other comment about the jump pack - we need to save on Wiley's back! Thanks for all you guys do - have a great Labor Day weekend!
Great video guys!! I am a Train fan but I love the KW and Peterbilt Trucks. The C15 came after the 3406. Both the 3406 and C15's are great engines. I love the W9, T800 and T600. Keep these videos coming guys!
Hank, as an Ag Mechanics teacher several of my students have become hooked to your videos at HF! Todays video ending with your FFA shirt was awesome to see!!
He’s right, if it has just the high/low range selector with no splitter on the left, it’s either a 9 speed (also referred to as an eight speed) witch can be easily converted to a 13 speed, witch has the red splitter on the left, giving you the ability to split it only in the high side, but like he said it could also be a 10 speed if it has no splitter on the left. Now there is another Eaton Fuller 10 speed that is called the (supper ten) it has no high/low range selector on the front, but has the gray splitter on the side, that essentially has only 5 gears, 5 shifts, but the ability to split all 5 gears, making it a 10 speed. The 18 speed also has the gray splitter on the left, has the same shift pattern as the 9, 13, and the 8LL, with the high/low range selector in the front, giving you the ability to shift 9 times, and split 9 times giving you 18 speed, with 4 reverse speeds. Eaton also made a 15 speed as well, with the same shift pattern as the 10 speed, but with the blue splitter on the side giving you the ability to split the lower 5 gears, with the high/low range selector in front giving you the ability to shift 10 times, giving you 15 speeds. Eaton makes a transmission called the 8LL, which essentially is a 9 speed that just like the 15 speed has the high/low range selector in front, with the blue splitter on the side, that you normally shift four time’s in low range, four time’s in high range, but also has that low gear for them really hard pull take offs, but you also have that blue splitter that give’s you the ability to have one more lower gear to help and assist on them really hard pulls, giving you 8 forward speeds with double Low Range, so you usually commonly find the 8LL in like Dump Trucks and heavy duty work trucks, the 8LL is not a highway long haul transmission. The 18 speed is the best all around transmission, they have the ability to give you highway miles, and heavy haul capabilities at the same time. I hope this helps you my friend, i love your videos.
Hi guys I love your channel how bout'cha..lol. you know hank you and wiley should buy a jump pac or 2 there a little bit expensive but they will start a big engine like no ones business..i.also watch the Bruce Wilson and gentry/sons channel and they use jump boxes they are way lighter in weight and poor ol wiley won't have to keep lugging around thoes heavy batteries
If it hasn’t been said already that cat is not a 3406 that would be a 3176 or possibly a 3196, you can tell by the air to air pipes are both on the passenger side. Also that truck had a sleeper on it at one point, you can see the back wall is a filler panel (with no interior covering it) and it will has the sleeper mounts on the frame rail about 4’ behind the cab
rigs amaze me sometimes, like fer example, i dont know if yall saw my vid but i revived my 1974 chevy c30 wrecker that had been sittin 5 er 6 years an it fired right up with a jump pack an some trufuel down the yap, fired right quick like it had just been sittin fer a lil bit, now workin on revivin my 1954 reo cdt with a gold comet inline 6, that ones fightin me a lil bit though
Hi from new Zealand. In my experience with Road Ranger transmissions blue is generally a 15 speed, red a 13 speed but I've had gray, red as well as white. But we're all upside down here so anything's possible 🤣🤣
Buddy at the saw mill had a 'C' and really liked it. The petes I drove had a 'B' and a C-15. I'd rather had the 'B'. I don't like computers but the C-15 did all right. The 'B' was pout of a wrecked lowboy puller and was RIGHT! That'll be a fine ride. GBWYall!
The Cummins slant 6 came in 2 flavors that I know of for sure. An NH250 hp and a NTC230. I drove a '79 Ford 9000 that I assumed had a 270 or 290 as it was turbocharged, but upon cleaning the ID plate discovered it was an NTC230.
That’s either a 9 or 10 speed. If u have a little blue button it’s a 15 if u have a little red button it’s a 13 speed if you have a little gray button it’s a 18 speed trans
My input is that truck one has a small cam 400 Cummins in it and truck two with the Detroit diesel is not naturally aspirated. All Detroits have a blower in the center of the engine to help push air into the combustion chambers being that they are a 2 stroke engine family
i still think on the detroit that the left bank throttle linkage isnt hooked up to the right bank , you can hear it when it runs that it doesnt pick up as smoothly as detroit's tend to do , it was only running on 4 , i wonder what a half engine runaway would sound like , im surprised wiley didnt figure that one
10 Speed - Range Selector w/o Splitter Super 10 Speed - Grey Splitter w/o Range Selector 13 Speed - Red Splitter w/ Range Selector 15 Speed - Blue Splitter w/ Range Selector 18 Speed - Grey Splitter w/ Range Selector Thats all I've learned so far... Just sharing the little knowledge I have...
Excellent video Hank :) & Wiley :) also impressive Desiel motor brands out there and how start up to ! Also one one motor impressed me was was International farm tractors company used in 1960 to 1984 my dad had small tractor to 2 medium size of German Desiel and were Double Displacement types in 4 cylinders with no Turbos ! If saw how get motor say a theif could steal them easy to so fast and is true too!
A fella I knew had a big diesel Generator on his service truck to go out and charge batteries for folks wo4rking semi's; retired and still worked 4-5 days a week doing that
Just watched the portion of the video about the White Roadboss i remember when as children (now 58) my late father got a chance to drive one of these trucks here in Australia and he thought he was king of the road in this brand and model of truck
hey i think you need a bigger worcktrack and lowboy. And hamitonwill farm shop . As a farende mechanic you are unbeatable. what happened to the crane . If the crane gets a roof, you could leave it there as a museum. or inquire at Tirex.
I love ole t800s! RARE!! I see old flat glass w900s every now and then but the t800s are rarer. My previous jobs had some. My first had a 94 my previous had some early 90s one was a 1995 if I remember. I believe it was. Sweet ole rigs love a N14 Cummins in these ones. Just fits with em My previous towing job had N14 in em and 60 series Detroit diesel
The white engine was on a 15 degree angle to get it to fit. Western star carried thru with this design with their big bore Engines until at least 2000 with the short hood conventional. It probably is a 220 Cummins.
18 speed has a grey splitter, 15 has a blue splitter, 13 has a red splitter, super 10 has a grey splitter and no range switch, and a 9 doesn’t have a splitter
new turbo, filters, oil, greasin etc. be ready to go. blowers always equal supercharged. Basically super chargin is pressurizing the "natural" air charge goin into an engine. Therefore the "super" in front of the air charger equals more cylinder pressure and a more explosive combustion stroke which is why blower engines have lower than normal compresssion ratios...
9 and 10 speeds have the single splitter like in this video, a 13 speed will have your range splitter like the 10 speed but also have a red splitter on the side, the 15 speeds have a blue splitter on the side and the 18 speeds have a gray splitter.

Just a testament to how keeping a rig in good condition, contributes to it starting easy after a bunch of years. Great video boys 👌🏻

Oh how great the sound of those old engines keep up good work
I remember my dad driving an 87 t800 daycab with a cat, and air ride seats. It was used to shuttle drywall, and lumber between lumber yards

Some of those trucks had the shifting pattern on the visor and it might be a 13 speed Eaton fuller transmission
Hey boys that's a 3176 caterpillar not a 3406e it's only a baby 325hp motor 👍
The Cummins slant 6 came in 2 flavors that I know of for sure. An NH250 hp and a NTC230. I drove a '79 Ford 9000 that I assumed had a 270 or 290 as it was turbocharged, but upon cleaning the ID plate discovered it was an NTC230.
Now ya just showing off guys, was the engine still warm, lol. Another great video bro. Safe travels
That’s either a 9 or 10 speed. If u have a little blue button it’s a 15 if u have a little red button it’s a 13 speed if you have a little gray button it’s a 18 speed trans
Blue button can be a 7 or 8 double low also but if it's on a truck with a fifth wheel it's usually a 15 speed
@@markwilliams4525 ok I have learned something new thank you sir
A super 10 has a grey button also
@@darrencatenacci2737 but it won't have the range selector switch on the front

Hank, you want to learn what I know about electronic engines... They either start or they don't.
Привіт пацани ідякую за любов до стареньких авто
Hi Hank Just To Let You Know That There Is No Color Code Between The 9 and 10 Speed And You Might Have To Look At The Shift Pattern On The Dashboard
Thanks👍
Hank wiley you are the best only thing we miss in this video there was no singing hahaha 😆
Hank your right, that is insane.
What a classic truck there Love it
My input is that truck one has a small cam 400 Cummins in it and truck two with the Detroit diesel is not naturally aspirated. All Detroits have a blower in the center of the engine to help push air into the combustion chambers being that they are a 2 stroke engine family
IF someone would rebuild that old WHITE... IT would be SO darn cool!
Strips in the undies ... Wally, tell him " A man of steel has to rust somewhere."

Great video boys!

lol
The baby purred like a kitten

Pin pout of the rod to go over to the rack on the other side and looks like someone was fixing to pull the 318.

Hank would you and Wally consider coming to South Carolina to do a Will It Run on a 1986 Ex Military Humvee with a 6.2 GM diesel ?

The white engine was on a 15 degree angle to get it to fit. Western star carried thru with this design with their big bore Engines until at least 2000 with the short hood conventional. It probably is a 220 Cummins.
Yes... It's making oil... 😁 I love it.
Isn't it amazing what a couple of fresh batteries can do.
