U know that's the us government had a order to come and take any armored vehicles from civilians posting a armored car on your fb is not the smartest way to keep your channel
Drove an armored car for the Air Force at Clark AB in the Philippines. Two-man operation. Used to go down to the flightline to pick up the payroll for the base, Camp O'Donnell, and Subic Bay. Millions of dollars. Suspension was horrible. Your butt killed you after a couple hours sitting in that seat. We called it the pig. The brakes were horrible, and we always had a chase car with M16 armed guys following us everywhere.
One of my shipmates went TDY for that job while we were in dry dock in Subic Bay. He said it was hot inside that thing and it rode rough. That was July 1969.
Wiley knew his way around that armored truck. He's probably robbed a few in his day. 😁 That truck looked like it has many more miles left in it! Awesome video and great to see your daughter again Hank. God bless and all stay safe!
Hoping that one of the LTL-9000s in the background will be a future project 🙂 Liking the armoured Nashy but keep the batteries charged; pretty sure it will be difficult to get out from inside without power 😬
Hank...De-Gas is definitely one of a few words to describe that radiator reservoir tank! These have been for sale for the last 6 months or so at dealer auctions. The prices have been pretty cheap on these. Manheim auctions have had many of these lately.
Hank I'm about your age. Brings back memories. When I was younger, I worked for a courier, and drove a one man armored car of sorts throughout NM. To say the least it was a nerve racking experience. The suspension is so stiff the ride is terrible , You feel every bump, an I mean every bump ! Good luck with that one !
Hank, If you recall, the guy that went to Mexico ran out of money and was trying to get the other two to send him some. Instead they tried to hire a hit man to go take him out because they thought he would blow their cover. It never occurred to them that buying a mansion for cash or going around town with bags of cash opening accounts at every bank would draw attention. My neighbor worked at a bank in Gastonia and said they had internal notices warning them not to let those two open accounts. ...but the dude in Mexico was going to blow their cover...😄
I applied for a job doing armored Truck service and did a test drive. Unfortunately I had a couple accidents on my record and was turned down but had fun driving it.
Those boxes with yellow handles are cash boxes which are used in like self checkouts and atms to store the cash. If you break one open you have a chance to find money in the rollers. They jam quite a lot actually especially those old ones.
I had a client that rode the bus from her house to the bank robbed the bank then stood at the bus stop while the cops were frantically looking for and she's literally less than a block away standing at the bus stop waiting for the bus for 15 minutes. Cops everywhere! Then she gets on the bus rides it for about 10 minutes gets home and just chills and orders a pizza. And it still took 4 hrs for the cops to bang on her door and arrest her! When she made zero effort to even hide! Her reason? She was bored and wanted to see if she could rob a bank on public transportation😂😂😂 no b.s. happened in Milwaukee Oregon!
Those trucks usually have a " workshop mode " for the doors to open them and allow the vehicle to be worked on without having to fool with all sorts of locks . That unlocking box underneath the hood is something Brinks would not like people to know about .
It doesn't fully unlock the door. Looks like you had to push the button and then turn the key. So it requires 2 people to open. Then once inside you can hit the switch since 1 person always remains in the vehicle.
Hank n Wylie, I’ve done a lot of lights and sirens. That one there is a basic unit, and they left ya the speaker. (I saw it on the Rad). I’d just get power to it and then you can drive Wylie nuts with it yelping, lol. We appreciate y’all
When I was working for an International dealership in the 90s, those truck are built in Mississippi about 50 miles from us. Those trucks are very heavy and with a load of coins weigh twice as much. My son while he was living in Florida a few years backed drove one for a couple years. He could not tell us his routes or of course how much money he was hauling. Some of those trucks take 3 personal at a time. There has to be one person in that truck at all times from the time they leave the depo until they get back. Easy Will It Crank for You guys, finally. Have a wonderful week and God Bless.
Thanks for another great video Hank and Wiley. I must say this was a fun video with the armored truck in the picture. What a truck this was. Would make a good service truck like you said. Hard to figure some things out. And it started fairly quickly and easy. Good going. You all take care and be safe. Looking forward to the next video Thanks for everything Hank and Wiley The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
Wish you'd found somewhere the weight of that thing, I'd say it was probably double the weight of the normal trucks. Awesome video, nice to see something sorta out of the ordinary, thanks.
7:59 those boxes are from self checkouts and ATM's. I used to work with those machines at Lowe's. The big roll of receipt tape makes me think this truck's job was servicing an ATM route.
Crazy how armored up and fortified this thing is. It's like a bunker. Where I live. Literally it's 3 guys in a Ford transit van, in t-shirt and shorts with construction hard hats on with eye protection! 2 get out collec the money, or put the money into the ATM! They barely look over the shoulder. 90% the time they're just on social media waiting for the money to load into the ATM and the alarm to reset. And the 3rd fella is just sat in the driver's seat listening to music. Eating his lunch. They walk up and down, down and around back doors open doing their thing, and people just avoid them, like they're not even there. While going about their own lives. If I seen one of these vehicles roll up into wherever in my country I'd be like ummmm what's going on 🤔🤔
There was a couple fellers ordered uniforms off the internet that looked like Brinks uniforms and had patches made and they pulled up to a Walmart with bags and all, walked in and was able to walk out with the bank drop from that store. Can't remember if they got caught or not. That happened outside of Birmingham where I used to live. Nobody said a word to them. Crazy. Also the edit you done with that song at the end "do you remember", that was awsome yall gotta do that every time
I used to be a mechanic for brinks, I can tell you all you need to know. Those tires are not runflats. Also I'm curious how yall got ahold of one. Brinks crushed all their old trucks
That old Brinks truck has seen better days .but still very nice . When I was living in the Netherlands still I've seen Brinks ( Nedlloyd) trucks all the time since I drove for their competition and we sometimes went to the same DC of the nederlandse bank . Though over there they ain't made by international harvester
You have a DT466 with injector problems or the cups have split. I have worked on these and towed them. I have an RV dealership and we have the insurance and background check to do this. They also have one mechanic, and he is overworked and when these break down he chucks a bunch of tools and spare parts into a spare A.C. and goes out to meet them, switches the contents from the rear of the trucks, they go continue their shift in the spare truck and the mechanic tries to get it going at least to the point of it being able to chug back to their little depot. If not, I go and tow him. .....That mechanic has a rough life. And just FYI: he is armed and a good shot. These Int's are always International DT 466's except the huge Fords. They are Cummins. Cummins became available in International around 2011 or so...I could be off a year or two. When the A/C goes, they have to have it fixed immediately, their windows wont roll down and the poor saps roast. They have the most bizarre parking brake set up I have ever seen, on some...not all. They ride like you are in a stage coach, and no: the tires are regular tires. I can tell you from working on these and the few road tests I have had to do, spending your days and evenings in one of these would be hell. Let's not get into too much info here, there is no telling who is looking at this. Taking down an armored car is the life dream of a lot of scumbags so keep that in mind. I would not want to post anything that could get these poor coin haulers shot or something.
Like the remote lock switches they showed us that are easily accessible under the UNLOCKED? hood. This video will probably be taken down, so I made my own copy. (for entertainment purposes only, lol)
Sweat box in the summer and an ice cream maker in the winter, surprised to see an out of service truck intact , in my day we had to destroy the body when they went to the bone yard, A good donor chassis for a custom project.
