A good friend of mine ended up doing 7 years due to a litany of robberies. He was a skinny, loopy crackhead at the time. Life went on outside, I managed to get clean and get away from the drama while the rest of our crew either died from overdoses, got crippled in car accidents or brain damaged from one-hit punches. That 1 friend came out of jail 7 years later absolutely shredded, clean as a whistle and had spent his entire time inside reading books, keeping his head down and also became a great artist. He went on to get a job as a support worker at a rehab and recently bought a house. Sometimes jail can actually save someone from themselves. Sometimes.
