I agree. I worked as a Prison Guard for 7 years. We paid inmates 10 cents an hour for work. Phone times were paid for $25 at a time. And a small 10 inch TV costs $250. Radios cost 75$ for a handheld, and 125$ for a box radio.

I was an inmate in Illinois, and most of these are close to true, but the one about sanitary supplies is simply not true, not in Illinois anyway. We were issued sanitary napkins on a monthly basis. Also, the one about the smell is usually not true either. Being a slob is NOT tolerated by inmates, You keep yourself and your area clean, or else. Edit: You also never go barefoot ANYWHERE in prison. This doesn't seem to be very well researched...

Most prisoners percieve protective custody either voluntary or not as meaning the person snitched, and its impossible to do an entire sentence in PC without a judge involved due to liability for mental stress. 2. Its mandatory for prisoners to wear shower shoes to prevent/minimize the spread of fungal and bactierial infections. 3. Any prison who has done an extended (several months or more) amount of time is given $50.00 (which isnt much, I know) and new clothes and shoes if they need them. 4. Restitution is NOT taken out of money put on their "books" for items they need or want by outside people. 5. Women have to pay for their own monthly products. They are not provided for them. 6. Most inmates get better healthcare than people with insurance.

HAVING a Heart Attack.... as his pain increased, and as he kept yelling for assistance from guards.... they just kept IGNORING him..... he eventually grew silent........ and they moved him "somewhere". Honestly, MOST prisons in the US do give bus money/ticket when inmates are released. Most of the time they even get a few bucks due to the inmate working while incarcerated. Thanks for all the great videos. You guys have made me late for work more than once :)

All prisons are different . I was TDCJ correctional officer for 5 years . our inmates had a rule about cleanliness . if an inmate didn't practice good hygiene he wasn't allowed in the day room . as soon as the guard's were buzy he'd get stomped !!! . and our commissary was very reasonable . they even sold blue bell ice cream !!! .plus there's alot more snitches now a days too. And yes inmates do try to manipulate guards . but our rank are probably far more cunning and manipulative. Then the inmates . they'll try to get us into trouble just they can bale us out. And have something to hold over our head . My inmates all liked me cause I took good care of them .
I was prenant in county an was in labor 2 days before I gave birth in the hallway of the jail. They hadn't believed me until my water broke in the psych ward (I was put there after I told them I was having contractions and they thought I was trying to hurt my baby). Luckily, even though she was supposed to be c-section after having 2 previous, I had my beautiful daughter 5 weeks early weighing in at 5lbs 1oz. We could have both died in there without any help but as a mother of 3 (1 other natural birth) I knew what to do and was capable enough to handle it. I also an allergic to all over the counter pain meds and they had to use epi pen and oxygen to being me back twice after forcing me to take their pills when I said I was in pain. I was finally released after the judge said I was a health risk in their care. I had only in custody for missing a court date (in 2007 I was a pregnant widow and fulltime working mother of 3) and wasn't really a flight risk to them.
When i was locked up a gaurd got a dui. He took the news paper from us so we couldn't see it. But someone in my pod got his own paper deliverd. They never did fire the gaurd. He still works there
So our neighbors who have zero criminal record still have trouble getting tampons, basic food and basic health care and you post a video on how difficult it is to live in prison?

Actually - in Texas prisons anyway - postage stamps are used as currency because they are easy to store, transport, and they're not contraband.
