  • Just got my Khukuri House Nepal Power Hamer Bowie. KHHI Nepal PWR HMR. Unboxing and first impression. And I’m very impressed. Custom handle made shorter and thinner and extra extra sharp with jimping is how I ordered it. It took 27 days to get here from Nepal. Not bad since it was hand made custom for me. I love it. I haven’t chopped with it yet but it is razor blade sharp. Solid as a rock feel in the hand. Sheath is very well made also. ‪@DonnieBAllDay‬ ‪@choirboyzcutleryoutdoors‬ ‪@BackyardKnifeDude‬ ‪@tubes5150‬ ‪@KHHINepal‬

How’s the blade been treating you? Contemplating getting one myself. Looks fantastic though.

It’s indestructible. Used it to cut a lot of kindling last fall during hunting season in camp. It didn’t leave a mark on it and I was cutting branches 2” thick. Still looks like the day I bought it. I really like this knife.

@@nicholassenterfeit8126 it’s called a power hammer because the butt end of the handle is thick and welded to the blade as is the guard. One thick continuous piece of steel. Just to test it out I pounded a few 16 penny green vinyl coated sinkers into a 4x4. It worked almost as good as my 21 oz framing hammer. Except the knife doesn’t have a waffle face like my framer. But I drove 4 or 5 16 penny nails into a Doug fir 4x4 with ease and it didn’t leave a mark on the butt of that handle. These guys in Nepal know what they are doing. I imagine if this knife were made in the USA it would cost $400 or more. I paid $165 about with a custom handle for my smaller hands at no extra cost.

@@nicholassenterfeit8126 By the way. This knife is notorious for having a massively huge handle. I have medium sized hands. I had them make the handle thinner and 1/2 inch shorter to accommodate my smaller hands. And it is still almost too big so depending on the size of your hands, consider requesting a smaller and shorter handle. They measure the handle by the length of the wood, not the overall length of the handle. The biggest complaint about the Power Hammer is how massive the handle is. Unless you have gorilla sized hands, you will want to request a smaller handle.

Is it worth it? How does does it compare to an American made Bowie at the same price range?

Yes it’s worth it. This is waaayyy better built than any American knife in the same price range. It is a well built beast. The steel is superb. I love the knife. And the sheath. And I love the service and communication I received from Kukri House.

I bought a Case XX Bowie and hated the handle because I have smaller hands. KHHI custom made my handle based on my measurements. I went back and forth with them about the dimensions of the handle. They sent me pictures and everything to make sure it was right. They nailed it. And no I don’t get any kick back from them. I just love this knife.

It all depends on your hand size. The Power Hammer is famous for having a huge handle if you order it stock. But they will make it smaller if you give them the dimensions. But if you don’t, it comes with a massive handle just likethe Case XX.
