SpaceX Starlink Train from Lake Pillsbury, CA. TURN UP YOUR BRIGHTNESS.
Use Maximum Screen Brightness. On opening weekend of B Zone deer season in California on September 17 at Lake Pillsbury, CA we spotted a SpaceX Starlink satellite train. Neither me nor my buddy Jim had ever seen this phenomenon before. Then the next night when back home we both saw them again. This video is 4 clips put together with iMovie. The first 2 clips were recorded at Lake Pillsbury on 9-17-23 and the next 2 recorded at my house the following night once back home in Ukiah, CA on 9-18-23.

      It all depends on your hand size. The Power Hammer is famous for having a huge handle if you order it stock. But they will make it smaller if you give them the dimensions. But if you don’t, it comes with a massive handle just likethe Case XX.

    I found after allot of frustration with rifles going hair brain unpredictable accuracy it was the 2-piece scope mount bases causing the problems. The 3 rifles giving me problems had the bases changed to 1-piece picatinny rail scope ring bases then it solves all the problems with shots flying all over the targets. If you also have this problem, go to the 1-piece picatinny rail system. When Winchester was producing these rifles, I really liked handling one to look how beautiful they looked. I am thinking of Boyde's stocks doing me a 50% maple stock for my Weatherby V 5 and have the deer scaled pattern checkering done on the Parrie hunter model stock and because I am a smaller man, I like the 13 1/2 pull butt stock. I just had a Boyde's stock done for my 300 WBY mag in a custom Mauser 98 using the Parrie hunter stock and the deer scaled checkering with the Orange + gray laminated wood and it is so cool looking.

      @fungdart Год назад

      They are the Winchester 63200 mounts. The one piece integrated ones. They are made by Talley but I didn't know that till I opened them. Strangely enough buying the Winchester mounts is the only way to get them in gloss. Talley makes gloss ones just for Winchester. You can't buy them directly from Talley. Only matte. They are intermediate height. I'm very happy with them and the rifle. This purchase was 20 years in the making. That's how long it took me to decided which rifle will be the last one I ever buy. But I've said that before. Hah.

    • @fungdart
      @fungdart Год назад

      I got them from Midwestgunworks.com they have them in high, medium and low height in matte and gloss. Mine are the Winchester 63200 medium gloss. Costs about $50 and the package says Winchester but they are made by Talley and the only way to get the gloss is to get the ones that say Winchester on the package. You can’t even buy gloss from Talley. Talley makes them specifically for Winchester for the Model 70. They are a rock solid scope mount. It took me weeks of searching for those gloss mounts to match my gloss rifle and gloss Leupold scope. That scope is a Leupold Century Limited Edition made only in 2007 for their 100 year anniversary. They still show up on eBay once in awhile. I paid $500 for my scope in 2021 it was brand new. Last I looked that scope new was going for $800 and up because Leupold hasn’t made gloss since then I believe. Which is sad. I grew up in the time of high gloss everything. Matte wasn’t even a thing yet. I think they are making a big mistake by not selling gloss. A lot of people still want gloss.

      @@StoryBoyXIII it’s called a power hammer because the butt end of the handle is thick and welded to the blade as is the guard. One thick continuous piece of steel. Just to test it out I pounded a few 16 penny green vinyl coated sinkers into a 4x4. It worked almost as good as my 21 oz framing hammer. Except the knife doesn’t have a waffle face like my framer. But I drove 4 or 5 16 penny nails into a Doug fir 4x4 with ease and it didn’t leave a mark on the butt of that handle. These guys in Nepal know what they are doing. I imagine if this knife were made in the USA it would cost $400 or more. I paid $165 about with a custom handle for my smaller hands at no extra cost.

    • @fungdart
      @fungdart Год назад

      @@StoryBoyXIII By the way. This knife is notorious for having a massively huge handle. I have medium sized hands. I had them make the handle thinner and 1/2 inch shorter to accommodate my smaller hands. And it is still almost too big so depending on the size of your hands, consider requesting a smaller and shorter handle. They measure the handle by the length of the wood, not the overall length of the handle. The biggest complaint about the Power Hammer is how massive the handle is. Unless you have gorilla sized hands, you will want to request a smaller handle.

All that I cared about is that it was a high gloss scope to match my rifle. Plus I love the Long Range duplex reticle crosshairs. I have it zeroed for 200 yards and with my .270 win I can supposedly get out to 500 yards reliably. But I haven’t tried it past 200 yet. Honestly I haven’t shot it since last deer season here in CA but that’s because I’m not happy with this Nosler lead free expansion tip ammo and haven’t been able to locate any TTSX locally since I have to pass a background check to buy ammo in CA and no online sellers will even sell to CA because it’s not worth the trouble. Old vaporizing burners ('pot burners') like this are getting hard to find. They're neither idiot-proof nor very efficient, but they don't need electricity, they'll put out a lot of heat, and they're almost bulletproof and can last for decades. My rough guess is that yours is ca. 1940s-50s. (I have a large 1940s parlor Duo-Therm and a probably 1960s Perfection about the size of your Coleman. I'll be working on a 1940s parlor Siegler in a few weeks at a museum site in northern PA.) Here are some things to know about them: 1. They're really designed to burn kerosene or #1 stove oil, which is basically dyed kero. They will burn #2 fuel oil or diesel, but they won't be happy about it and can really smoke or overfire, as you have already discovered. I have seen some people modify them to burn waste veggie or motor oil, but you're literally playing with fire when you do stuff like that. 2. They (or at least the ones like yours without a combustion air fan) work on natural draft and are very finicky about it, which is why there is a draft regulator in the flue pipe (the little swinging flap with the weight at top). The "number in the middle" that you can't read clearly on the ID tag ca. 6:45 is the draft setting, which is .05 (-0.05"W.C.), or the draft that the regulator needs to maintain. The side of the pot in which the oil burns is perforated with a bunch of little holes through which the combustion air is drawn. If those get clogged with carbon, not enough combustion air is introduced and the unit will smoke a lot and work worse and worse. Once you shut it down for the season, take a soot vac and give the pot a good cleaning. But it doesn't always make nice, polite soot that just comes right out: sometimes it bakes on _hard_, and you have to chip away carbon/ash deposits in the bottom and use a brass toothbrush and dentist's pick on all the little combustion air holes in all the areas that you can reach. It's messy work and a PITA especially if you have large hands, but it needs to be done. Most important is to keep clear the fuel inlet pipe and the area around it at the bottom of the pot: those can get choked with carbon and ash and affect the fuel flow. This was such a common problem that most makers had a T on the fuel inlet pipe with a cap on the outside portion (yours is visible at 0:41) that could be removed to shove a rod or pick through to clean it. (When it is shut down and cool, of course.) Generally, the cleaner you can keep it, the happier it and you will be. (The DuoTherm had stuck chunks of rock-hard soot in the bottom that I had initially thought was coal that someone had thrown in, and I had to clean out a couple of dead mice with the soot before I could fire up the Perfection for the first time; it had been in a long-vacant farmhouse.) 3. The little module around back at 0:25 is the fuel controller, and what you have your prybar on is the safety lever that keeps it from overflowing and dumping fuel all over the floor. This can happen if the inlet pipe to the pot is partially clogged and causing fuel to back up into the controller, among other things. If the safety is not resetting, there's a reason, probably that the fuel control needs to be cleaned or the float inside is corroded through and not maintaining fuel level properly, kind of like a carburetor float. They're not complicated or hard to work on, but they do have some orifices and small passages that can get gunked up over time, especially if they sat for a long time and the fuel evaporated dry. Some patience with an old toothbrush, pick, and solvent will do it. There is also a tubular screen filter -- behind the little aluminium plug on the bottom of the fuel controller, clearly visible ca. 5:18 -- that needs to be cleaned occasionally. You may have to replace an O-ring or make a new gasket for it after you open it up, depending on the model. 4. Since the oil feeds by gravity, the unit needs to be level so that the oil spreads evenly across the bottom of the pot and vaporizes consistently. Check it with a level in two dimensions, and shim it level if it doesn't have adjustable feet (a lot of them do, if they are not rusted tight and still screw in or out). SO ... with some simple periodic attention, this little heater should keep you toasty for many years yet. Don't let the Energy Police try to convince you to get rid of it. ;)

      Thank you for the info I really appreciate it. My wife’s grandfather installed this in the 80s and he owned several gas stations here in Northern California dating back to 1951. We also have a pre-World War II globe hydraulic car lift in front of the garage that he got somewhere and installed in the 80’s. I just fired the heater up for the first time this year a week ago because I was just now able to buy diesel for it. I will do some of these things to try to clean it up and get it to burn better. When I opened the lid on it for the first timer a week or two ago, it was filled with acorns from the wood Peckers dropping them down the chimney, maybe I’ll post another video showing a little more of it but this year it fired right up and it hadn’t burned in nine months and burns great like usual. It is set up to run on diesel because he also owned a fuel trucking company and a bulk fuel storage depot and so for decades he got free diesel so that’s how he set it up. We don’t get free diesel anymore we have to buy it just like everybody else because when he retired he sold everything when they retired in 2003. He passed away in 2011 at 86 years old.

      I knew this thing was pretty old. And I have always been a fan of Coleman, having several vintage Coleman lanterns and white gas stoves that my Dad bought in the 60’s that all still function perfectly. So there is no way I will part with this thing. Especially since it was installed by my Woman’s Grandpa. We both have a sentimental attachment in a big way to things belonging to our Grandparents. We moved in here 6 years ago onto this property to take care of her Grandmother, who is still alive at 92, to take care of her because she has dementia and they have tons and tons of old cool antique things such as gas pumps and other equipment, such as the stove and the car lift, and they all still work, and we would never part with those things. Especially since we live in this hell hole called California which is banning anything petroleum related. In 2 years gas powered equipment like chainsaws and lawnmowers will be illegal. But after Grandma passes we are leaving this God forsaken state as fast as we can. We are ready to throw a dart at a map and go before they throw me in prison for driving on bald tires. I plan on taking this heater with us when we leave.

      Hello, I have the exact same stove, a guy gave it to me and I am installing it in a 16x20 cabin with a 16' ceiling. I'm not sure if it will even work, but tore it all apart and cleaned it up. Installing it hopefully this coming weekend... Nice video, thanks

      I don’t have a way to pump air in. Plus I haven’t fired this thing up in almost a year because our furnace and hot water heater run off diesel and I use every drop to heat the house now. Because in this God Forsaken State called California red died diesel is now $6 a gallon. So the garage is ice cold. In have to heat the family first. But if the price ever drops before I bail out of CA I will try pumping air into it to get it going faster. I love this old heater and for years I had a 150 gallon tank to feed it but things have changed. Now I can barely afford to heat my house. My family owned a fuel trucking company and. 36,000 gallon bulk fuel plant and 3 gas stations up till about 2003. But the days of free diesel are long gone.

    Love seeing these type of videos. People didn't know engraving your name or other info back then would detract from the the worth. In your case since you are keeping it, it only enhances it. My dad engraved rabbits, etc when he was a kid in his dads shotgun stocks. Of course my grand fathers were always poor southern folks. I have all their guns, but I would be afraid to fire them. They are that cheap.

      I love that he put his name on it. He told me when he gave it to me that he bought it used from a friend for $100 in either ‘60 or ‘61. He joined the reserve sheriff’s posse in Columbia County Oregon and was required to get a pistol to carry. When he died he had dozens and dozens of long guns from muskets to M1 Garands. This was the only hand gun he owned. My uncles got all of his guns and were really pissed back then that I ended up with it. It was the gun they really wanted. They are over it now though.

      Yep it does. Like burning hair and flesh. I have it on right now as I type sitting on the porch. I thought about taking the cage off but I would have to cut the rods. Plus my grandpa bought this thing in the 80’s and I don’t want to mess it up. Ideally I would like to kill less moths and just mosquitoes. If I took the cage off moths the size of humming birds would be able to fit in it.

      I have a part two video showing how I did sighting it in. It still needs dialed in more. I haven’t shot it in six months because I can’t find any other ammo besides Nosler locally. I can’t get leaded bullets anymore only lead free in California. I want to get some Barnes TTSX but can’t find it. And no more online ammo sales in California. One of the many reasons I’m leaving this godforsaken state.
