  • This is the first good Back Cut video on RUclips. I've been planning to film my own but I procrastinate. I will still upload mine when it's 'perfect'. I own a Bagwell 'Helle's Bell' and 'Devil's Daughter'. Bill is a great guy and his bowies are well worth the wait and price.
"Author, combat instructor, and bladesmith, Bill Bagwell, reveals how he achieves his signature artistic design and style, from tip to tang, on the point and back cut of the Bowie blade - the most famous of all fighting knives."

I've read Mr.Bagwells book, "Bowies,Big knives and the best of Battle Blades", and I must say it is excellent. I highly recommend it if you have any interest in knives. Thanks for posting the video, very interesting subject.

There is no more a knowledgeable man on the physics of the bowie knife than Mr.Bagwell. Listen and learn.

I couldn't agree more! Bill is THE man when it comes to Bowies and their combat applications! Of course James Keating is right up there with him. :)

Great videos! Were these ever put out for sale on DVD? Are the Bagwell T-shirts available for sale? Does Bill still go to any shows (like the Cambridge Ohio show)?

Hello Mr. Bagwell! I've actually got a Hell's Belle on order from you (for June 2015-Frank in TN) Actually I wanted to ask you about something else, about some youtube policies regarding "dangerous knives" I made a vid with some bowie info, backcut and snap cut info (and mentioned your book a lot-it changed my way of thinking on knives so I can't praise it enough)How do you get "paid" (or don't?) on vids like this one, regarding "dangerous knives" their words-not mine! I want to make videos and want to avoid problems with the yt people. Any advice would be most appreciated sir. All I want to know if you can still make vids like this and get paid, or not. Thank you and have a wonderful Holiday season sir!

Most (but not all) Bowie knives are not full tang consruction. Massive blade tapers into a pencil thin piece of metal inside the handle creating a weak point between the blade and handle. Get a proper full tang Bowie or opt for something like the Condor Moonshiner instead.
