I too have a great appreciation for classical music. I would go back and forth between different genres, but now I have a great appreciation for this kind of music. This is really all I listen to. My parents almost always tell me to listen to today’s stuff, but I think to myself that no one can tell you what you have to listen to. I always say that whatever you listen to is your preference.
I've been listening to this piece for 6 decades and this is my new favourite.Crisp, brisk but nuanced. The conductor obviously had a particular flavour in mind-and I think it works. Some bits make me think it's the first time I've ever heard the piece of music. ! Love it.
It is dramatic, theatrical and colourful, very moving too. Makes feel like reading the original play by Alphonse Daudet. The end of this incidental music announces the dramatic genius of the end of Carmen, when a story of passion ends in the middle of a festival day. Extremely moving. As a comment went, thank you, Monsieur Bizet, for your genius.
Delicately nuanced performance. This conductor doesn't take this too well known piece with any easy manner. Under her baton every note is freshly reborn.
