@@spikespa5208 actually I'm not sure, some orchestras/conductors from other countries can give a better rendering. For example, being English doesn't mean you're automatically better at playing Britten, or that you can't go wrong. Being German doesn't mean you don't have any disposition for playing Debussy. Don't you think ?

I said it in another Grieg video but I'll say it again - I, personally, identify Grieg as the Norwegian Tchaikovsky. He's a master of the folklore melody. Both he and Tchaikovsky were dedicated to capture the essence of their country and put it into notes. They definitely succeeded.

I wonder how people can make that association.
When I listen to classical music, I know that I like it or not, and how much, but I have no idea how someone could "capture the essence of their country and put it into notes".
Granted, I have no musical training whatsoever.
I have no creative training whatsoever, either.
I am not suggesting that you are wrong.
Perhaps if you get a couple of minutes, you could tell me in simple terms what you mean and how you came to that conclusion.
Presumably you either play an instrument and/or you have an understanding of what they call music theory.
      Thanks.

Gracias GRIEG

I, too, have childhood memories of playing Swan Lake on the vinyl, 33 1/3 records. I would dress myself and my younger sisters in old, sheer curtains that we were allowed to play with, and we would dance our hearts out - the perfect ballerinas. I am 66 now and those memories are comforting.

My siblings and I were raised with all kinds of classical music from infancy, as our parents were true music lovers. My friends and I would devise stories and games to fit many pieces of music, and then act them out with the music in the background. The expressive power of the sound architecture breaks with any form of transcription of reality to attach itself to the expression of a fabulous universe where the color and the hythm of the compositions constitute an expiration which gives voice to the exaltation 🤠

Quelle fraîcheur ! Quelle simplicité ! Quel enthousiasme !

Bilo je to davno i iako imam 72 god još uvijek vidim scenu: brod i pjesmu Solveig i njenu čežnji i očekivanje ljubljenog.
    Hvala od❤,

One must listen to and WATCH this marvelous performance!
Amazing recording quality - coughs and triangles.
Great conducting - Mr. Engeset puts his heart and soul into it. As does the orchestra.
    38:19 - goose bump time!

I just can't get enough of this . Grieg,'s Per Gynt epotomicses the total Norwegian culture in an unbelievable piece of music .
It is all there but what touches me most is Mother Aase's death. That brings tears to my eyes. Kind of like listening to "Taps".
