Much better video than the others on this topic, understandable and good production techniques. My dealer charges minimum $400.00 to do a plug and wire change, this saved me a chunk of change and time.
Sounds bout right. I just called a dealer for a tune up and she said $880.
I've watched several videos that I haven't found near as helpful as the way you recorded yours. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, David!
I try to make my videos as to-the-point as possible that includes helpful information and no "well, duh" information.
I have more videos currently in the works and I'll be sure to remember what you said in upcoming videos.
Hey you did a good job, one quick tip for you and every one else 2-3" piece of rubber hose that fits snug on the porcelain of the plug makes starting the plugs in the holes much easier.
The last plug is much easier, all of the passenger side plugs are easier to access, if you go through the passenger side wheel well by removing the inner lining. Learned that after hitting a deer. It’s also an excellent way to access the first two O2 sensors on both either side
I started with the #8 plug first...used a short 3/4 socket on the plug socket and it was easy. Only needed a 3" extension on the rest with out a swivel. Absolutely turn new plugs in by hand first like you mentioned. Good vid
Thanks for the shield info. Haven't changed plugs on my Silverado in 10 years (why I'm not passing smog), but when the shield came out with the wire, I thought I'd screwed something up! lol Thanks again!
Thanks, now I can finally locate my spark plugs!
Very good and easy to understand video. Will start with #8 First as it seems to show the hardest. Thanks for the info regarding the metal shield.
Great Video you showed just what I needed to get the job done. Thanks
That's what's up you save me a lot of time and headaches with this video
Based on your instrument cluster, it looks like your truck is a "2007 Classic". I have a GMC Sierra "2007 New Body", but the engine compartment looks about the same. I think 2007 was the only year GMC did a dual model. It is such a pain when ordering parts because "Classic" is the default, and I always need to remember to check that it is New Body and not Classic.
Amen to that, such a PITA
Thanks teacher saved time and $ GOD bless you
Excellent video on replacing plugs and wires. Covered easy ones quickly and gave more info for the more difficult ones when needed. Thanks
Thank you! I figured it didn't make too much sense to keep repeating the same thing for the plugs that took no real effort to remove.
Excellent video. Thank you for the tips.
Thanks for the information
Keep it up
great way to show..this..very helpful
Thanks for the Video. Very Helpful
So much helpful! Thanks.
Excellent video, Thanks.
good job I am on it this week
excellant video! Thanks for posting!
Nice video man
Thanks really good video
You the best 👌(the problem is I only have two hands) 🤣
Thanks for your help 🙏
Thanks for you video...help me a lot
Great video thank u
Its recommended to install the plugs dry. Adding anti seize can add lubrication making it easier to over tighten and strip the threads.
Nice video thanks
Good job
I did a similar plug/wire change video on the same year 5.3 L but yours shows the #8 plug better than mine. I did mine different but good video. BTW was that coil pack on #1 missing some plastic? @2:38
Do you have any recommendations to keep from pulling the crimp on the wire apart when pulling them off? I have that issue alot...
Use these pliers on the METAL part of the boot shield:
@t
Lever against the engine valve cover, exhaust manifold etc. Use a small piece of plywood or metal if you need to change your lever angle.
Do NOT lever against the colis or anything plastic, fragile etc. Try to twist the boot to break its grip before levering it off.
Remove the brake booster hose at the brake booster to get access to #7, rear driver/left side.
If your wires are old - plan on replacing them. They will likely break when removing.
Use the same pliers or long reach needle nose pliers to remove the broken bit of metal wire-to-plug connector.
Stay gold.
How long did it take to get the job done I just got an 06 Silverado and want to see the condition that they are in iv usually done 4cylinder cars so much easier thanks for the video
And when you put the grease do you mean literally inside the hole? Or on the rim that you were pointing at?
Would this video help me if i have a 2001 chevy suburban
Great video. I have an 08 Yukon Denali with the 6.2 Vortec. I imagine it's pretty similar. Had the dealer change plugs at 110K, but they didn't do wires. Wondering if I should circle back and replace the wires myself now at 127K.
Very similar engine when it comes to the spark plugs. If the wires haven't been changed since it was new, I'd recommend replacing them since you're at 127k.
Will a ignition coil spring damage a lifters if left in
Did you use anti seize on your plugs?
I have an 07 Sierra 5.3 crew cab
Just about to change plugs and wires today. Did you notice better mileage? My truck runs fine but the mileage is horrible!
Hopefully il see better mileage after swapping plugs and wires...
Great video!
splash I cleaned my MAF and installed a KN filter and my mileage went up 5 MPG.
Use caution when using a swivel. It can and will cause you to break/ crack the porcelain of the plug.
Happened to me
Does the order of the wires matter I fergot to take note of the number label
DUDE YOU LOOK LIKE CANELLO THE CHAMPION.
Put my small tube headers on and thought they would stay sounding decently loud and I changed my spark plugs and it sounds like it has no catylac converter noice complaints everywhere and co workers mad lol
How many miles did you have on that truck at the moment of the video?
Nice tape job on the swivel.... Still gives ya a little of the swivel, but not as "flemsy"...
What is the metal. Protection around the spark plug called the metal shell
The aluminum plug seems stuck I cannot get it off ice been trying all day. Any tips?
Grip plies and find yourself a large screw driver for leverage. They sell new AC delco heat shields at local car parts incase you've absolutely damaged yours while taking them out. Good luck
The issue is removing the aluminum plug covers.
I ended up putting a small hose clamp over the metal and wiggling it off.
So if you're like me and had problems with the last plug closest to the passenger seat...
What I did was place my 5/8 deep well from underneath. You can see it great.
Then I used a short 3/4 socket to place over the 5/8. I didnt have the swivel thing and was able to remove it from the top of the truck.
Pray for me as I try to put one back into the same spot 😭
Mi comentario es que estoy inconforme con el sistema que se interrumpe constantemente
¿ podrían arreglar el problema ?
I have a 09' gmc sierra 5.3L
I put new plugs in then couple months later my brother checked & all my plugs were loose. He dont understand how I was driving the truck cause I couldn't tell that the engine was idling ruff today 9-21-21 I noticed the truck was idling & driving like shit so I checked plugs after a few months since my brother checked it & i had 1 plug loose. Weird
Removing plug boots on '07 Grand Prix was impossible. Ended up breaking off the plugs and boots came right off.
What do I do when it's siezed up
How many miles on the engine before plug change? Thanks
Hey Harry!
I bought my truck in the fall of 2015 with about 154,000 miles. I replaced these plugs and wires at around 205,000 miles. I did replace the plugs a few times before then but felt it was time to replace the wires as well.
Plugs are good to 100K
@@splash5974 If you get the good Iridium ones. Cheapy's dont run that long
@@jiminyfixit1688
Yes
These trucks all should have the iridium plugs
i didnt see any oil pressure when you started your truck. mine jumps up almost instantly.
Good catch! At the time of recording the video my oil pressure sensor was bad and wasn't operational at the time. Replacing it was not fun to say the least.
What calibretion you did
???
Now do it on a traverse V8 lol (LS4 5.3) impossible with out taking the engine out
Can't even remove the damn boot
Best METHOD FOR LAST 2 ON THE LEFT 6TH AND 8TH SPARK PLUG IS LAY ACROSS THE MOTOR
Where the fuel injectors.
