      @@OXY187 no, it is actually purely a popular misconception lol. The Russians were able to mass produce small arms, tanks, airplanes, etc. at an equal or even higher rate than the Germans towards the middle and end of the war (especially once their industrialization starting taking off). Even in the beginning they typically had enough to keep the men armed (they even had a surplus of weapons left over from WWI they could use if they truly had to). Sure there were specific instances where supplies were cut off or suicidal charges were made, but equipping their men with guns and ammo was never systemic issue for the Russians.

    Man, this brings back memories. Finest Hour was my first Call of Duty game.
    Back then, you were just a soldier, no one particularly special. These days, you are a member of some kind of elite unit/Squad, and you have to Save the world, win the war or whatever. Mind you, this is mainly in the Modern Warfare games, although Dimitri in WAW was a damn invincible hero.
    Still, it's good to hear the old music, I remember this game, particularly the first few Russian levels, as being the best for me

      Fikri Aiman Well considering that you probably played the PC version first and I played Finest Hour first, our bias makes it difficult to think the other is better. We could always state our reasons for thinking one is better to see each others side. The reasons I liked Finest Hour more was because of the narrative, the way every character had a video biography that began a chapter, and because all the characters were much more diverse(African American Tank Operator, Russian Female Sniper, British Force in Africa, Soviet Grunt In Germany, and American Commander in Eastern Front).

      GrinchGrog I have to agree with you, I prefer cod 1 over finest hour. But in CoD 1 it's kinda ridicilous that Soviets used lugers instead of TT-33's and MG42's instead of DP-28's. Aaand many other funny misplaced weapons.
      But United Offensive fixed that issue. FH has however balls, and I like the weapon crosshair more, it's more detailed.

    • @fuzzydunlop7928
      @fuzzydunlop7928 5 лет назад

      See - the fidelity and the quality of the missions themselves were much better on CoD1 - it was more polished and more cohesive. THIS game was much more emotional and gritty and visceral. They were two different experiences. One was action and one was horror.

I think I made it as far as being part of a tank crew or something.. I remember being trapped in a city square or something along those lines. I remember being PISSED and giving up and I don’t think I played it ever afterward

    Yes, there WERE versions of this game for PC but I don't know if there are still any copies of it on sale. My advice; try to look up sources on the internet. Hope this helps.

    Unlike any other tracks, this is not an original composition - this track is a remix of a CoD 1 track that was internally named "redsquare_charge".

      The original song is actually a Christian Hymnal called oh the deep dep love of Jesus, beautiful song. Great game by far my favorite CoD game of all time

      Back then cod was respectable and relied on REAL battles to make its points... First time I played cod was with a ps2.... It's hard to believe cod used to be THIS GOOD!

      Gabe Layfield why did the devs to this to us. The beloved franchise that held our hearts is making a star wars meets cod.

    I remember playing this as a kid. A great game back then and a hell of a soundtrack. However as perhaps my first exposure to the story of the Eastern Front I now look back on how misleading it was. It perpetuated the myth of one rifle between two men and the Hollywood interpretation of blocking detachments (Commissars) gunning down 'cowards' without a second thought.

    • @WaluigiIV
      @WaluigiIV 8 лет назад

      To be fair, Commissars gunning down running soldiers did happen in Penal Battalions

      +arat360 A minority in the army, and even if they did shoot deserters, it was generally only if they were inciting a rout in their fellows.
      It makes no sense to waste able bodies.

    @philosophy7575 Yeah the opening scene to the game, when the city of Stalingrad is seen for the first time as its burning and the entire sky is blood red and filled with smoke and embers. this track is approperate because the impression of the city is like an image out of Dante's Inferno.
