I feel childish but the Pegasus Bridge Mission was mine and my father's favourite mission, and we alternated playing it, watching eachother trying to survive the final assault, sometimes in the bunker, sometimes near the flak88. Now that my father is dead, listening to this masterpiece makes me cry. Those were really good times.
"Mother, a few days ago we waved the flag of the Motherland over the top of the Reichstag in Berlin. The war, at last, seems to be coming to an end. There is very little fighting left in the enemy. Soon I will be returning to our home. There are German prisoners of war everywhere. Today, I crossed the Elbe River in Germany and shook hands with an American soldier. Although I could not understand anything he said, I felt this man was my brother... and I think he felt the same." - Sgt Alexei Ivanovich Voronin in a letter to his mother after the Soviet victory in Berlin, April 1945.
It would have been awesome if that American he talked about was Pvt. Martin, the American you play as in the same game. Two characters whom you controlled and had a good victory celebration together.
My 11 year old self, sitting in the bunker waiting for reinforcements in the early hours of the morning after a long night's battle...best childhood memories
Why didn't Call of Duty continue down this road? It started out as a series that honored the sacrifices of those who had fought in WW2, but then it became a series that glorified and normalized this sort of warfare. Now every mission needs to be a Michael Bay movie condensed into 15 minutes. I suppose the money really went to their heads. Sad.
I was playing this with my dad, then by myself when I had 5 years. So played Call of Duty 1, 2 and Modern Warfare back then. Now I have 15 years old playing new CoD games, but in the same time I have nostalgia for the old days of this franchise. Also Pegasus Bridge and MoHAA Main Theme are the best soundtracks ever created in video games for me.

I remember storming Red Square as the Russians, Taking the bridge for the British, Holding off against swarms of tanks and infantry in a half destroyed hotel as the Americans... Those where the days, no last min plot twist, no nuclear attack. When you played you fought to the last man and in that brief moment when all hope was lost. All faith had faded, you where saved by allied forces and you would win in one glorious final standoff for your life.

I just began playing Call of Duty games recently, starting with COD1. I have finished all the games on Steam up to Black Ops 2 (except the expansion packs), and as much as I like the HD games from COD4 Modern Warfare, I still think the original games are seriously underrated masterpieces. The worst part is that most COD players nowadays may have forgotten, or perhaps don't even know, that Call of Duty was originally made to remember those who fought and died in WWII.

One of the best games of my childhood. This was my first Call of Duty game. The feels from this game man. Nothing like winning Pegasus Bridge, fighting your way to the Reichstag, etc. Such a good game.
Nowadays CoD intensity is a bunch of buildings crashing around you so often it starts to not matter. But back then, it was holding out with almost no health and barely scraping by while a seemingly sad but masterful song plays while you fight for you're life.
You almost felt the stress in the bunkers, in the forests and in the ruins while running towards your mission shooting Germans and avoiding German tanks
When you're on that 88 and the tanks just keep coming at you. The first time you beat it you think, every one of those tanks was just about to kill you. You shot them first by half a second. Hold until relieved...
Goddammit! Everytime I listen to this I remember the good old times. All the fun Multiplayer action where everyone got along, and the actual story driven campaign. I want that time again! The good times, the best times.

I didn't know if any of these men would go back to England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, wherever they came from. I didn't know if any of these men would go back to see their families again. I didn't know if we were going to hold out when we were pushed across the bridge. I didn't know if we were going to hold out when they came from all directions. I didn't know if we were going to hold out when they had tanks coming from the north, south, east, west, you name it. I didn't know if we were going to hold out when we were forced into such a small defensive space in the bunker. I didn't know if I would be shot by a German, or blown up by a Tiger. But then. Then I heard this music. And I knew. I *KNEW* that we *WERE* going to live to see the next day. I *KNEW* that we *WERE* going to succeed. I *KNEW* that we *WOULD* put up hell of a fight. If they make another WW2 COD game it'd be awesome if they did a sort of tribute and included these classic themes into the soundtrack. These pieces are just so beautiful that its a shame they get lost to time.
This is still the best game in history! I really miss the good old day’s playing this... this game made me think about what happend in that war, this game made me give so much respect to all the people who died in that war and this game made me feel how it was back then... no game could ever give me that feeling like this game does..If I could I would really turn back time back when this game is popular! I enjoyed EVERY second playing this game. This is the only game with a perfect storyline and is fun to play! God i miss this game... I will never forget this game and will be in my heart forever.
thanks for this upload dude. It makes people understand just how much sacrifice all men and women of all nationalities made in a war against tyranny and oppression. though it was carnage and chaos and a virtual slaughter, their sacrifices weren't in vain by any measure.
So true. It so much felt like "Ok, my character is going to die soon, scripted death" and then...when it's over and you still live, you're amazed at the games directors skill to make you feel like before and it feels like you've won a small war.
I could just sit back and listen this beautiful song forever and even after that. This brings some good memories from my life to alive and make me even cry. This song makes people to think their lives and theri way of life. Get up and go out. Be with your friends and with your family. Don't just play computer games and drink energy drinks. You got only one life so use it wisely.
The problem for any Axis campaign is that the soldiers need to be portrayed in a sympathetic light - not an easy feat because the governments of the Axis nations who sent them over to fight all had an ideology that has since become universally demonised, so there are lots of nuances to unpack and approach
I get memories of my pa teaching on how to play this game when I was 2 years old, he died 4 days after my B day but I will never forget on when he taught me on how to play this and the laughter we had together.
I love this music and the game itself the music makes us think of those heroes who saved us who sacrificed their lives for their country and their world ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
When I finished Vanguard I thought "This campaign is really not that bad", but then I remembered what this COD is, that even in the credits it's just amazing, it makes Vanguard in a bad position, even worse than Ghosts 😞

Now i am playing mw 2 and when i heard this... ah that good old days...i cried....This is first game on my Computer and I didnt deleted it! I have all cod games but mw2 and this is best of all! LOVE YOU CALL OF DUTY 1..................!
This is awesome music. I especially like the variants of the main theme, when it goes from calm to a little louder, with all the strings playing.
"Mother, a few days ago, we waved the flag of the motherland over the top of the Reichstag in Berlin. The war, at last, seems to be coming to an end. There is very little fighting left in the enemy, soon I will be returning to our home. There are German prisoners of war, everywhere. Today, I crossed the Elbe river in Germany, and shook hands with an American soldier. Although I could not understand anything he said, I felt this man was my brother, and I think he felt the same."
Call of Duty is one of the greatest FPS games I have ever played, even after playing nearly every other game in the series (Every game after this except CoD 3). Makes me sad that not many people talk about it nowadays :(
those line sir where Legendary to me it really feel like you were part of an adventure that come to a closing and its good to see true picture/movie in black and white of man that fought in the west and the est meet up and celebrate like a ``we made it buddy its so nice to see you because that mean we will go back home soon alive and well``
The game of my childhood forever in my heart
The best. Honour to the man, composing this music.
If they make another WW2 COD game it'd be awesome if they did a sort of tribute and included these classic themes into the soundtrack. These pieces are just so beautiful that its a shame they get lost to time.
:/ good old times
I'm 100k views of this video probably. TigerTank thank you for this upload. Best OST of any call of duty- best call of duty hands down
*cralls up into a ball and starts crying while thinking of the old days of FPS's*
Que nostalgia, y que nudo en la garganta me da esta banda sonora.
thanks for this upload dude. It makes people understand just how much sacrifice all men and women of all nationalities made in a war against tyranny and oppression. though it was carnage and chaos and a virtual slaughter, their sacrifices weren't in vain by any measure.
Soldier: Another panzer tank!
Me: Shit, i gonna die
*sound this piece*
Me: Let's defend the Bridge!
Best Call of Duty ever created! Hands down to the most dramatic and emotional cod created
So true. It so much felt like "Ok, my character is going to die soon, scripted death" and then...when it's over and you still live, you're amazed at the games directors skill to make you feel like before and it feels like you've won a small war.
And holy shit! This music actually made me cry! So many good old memories came up at the same time! Hail cod 1 and united offensive!
14 years ago? it's been 14 years since my best times are over
I love hearing this theme during the defense objectives as all hope seems lost until reinforcements arrive.
This was best game at that time and still it is.
Most epic and emotional music ever long live call of duty franchise and may it never die...
I wrote my babuška a letter, we saw Elephants, Tigers and Panthers..
She thought we were in the Moscow Zoo..
We were in hell..
How can someone dislike this. This song is just beautiful..
If they ever do another WW2 Call of Duty, it would be cool to play as both the Allies and the Axis in the campaign.
I love this music and the game itself the music makes us think of those heroes who saved us who sacrificed their lives for their country and their world ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
this music brings back some good gaming memories...holding off pegasus bridge to this music put a lump in my throat
Masterpiece
I want this music played at my funeral. There is a sadness here, but there's something even more powerful, a hope that lasts beyond the grave.
When I finished Vanguard I thought "This campaign is really not that bad", but then I remembered what this COD is, that even in the credits it's just amazing, it makes Vanguard in a bad position, even worse than Ghosts 😞
ghosts was good tho i actually prefer it over bo2
Oh god.... nostalgia... the feeling of relief when the reinforcements came..... and.... this is the first time i've heard it in 7 years...... I remember.
who else played this online? awsome memories
Heinrich, you don't know how right you are.I miss games that were made for fun not money. This song is perfect for any other shooter to use.Wish CoD GHOSTS had this music.
"I finally took this damn bridge"
What a great song. Almost makes me cry. Never forget the pain our boys went trough in that great war. May them and COD1 always be remember.
CoD 1 and UO are work of art!
I love them for being more historical rather than pseudo-political modernity
it is really a great piece of music when the long-anticipated reinforcement comes
in Pegasus Bridge and the Chateau
The best call of duty, it disgust me what the franchise turned
