Oh Lydia, I went into heart failure on October 29th and was taken to our local hospital, once I got in a room (many hours later) I was alone and decided what a perfect time to listen to your book on Audible, So glad I had that moment in time your book played all through the night it was so awe-inspiring, thank you so much There I was in critical condition dying and listening to you read your book, I was transformed you reading it was the best. I'm 69 and just retired the first of the year, I love watching your videos and have been a fan since you were in your little house. So thank you for writting and reading this wonderful book, and all you do, I will forever be or have a connection to you.

I'll never forget the time when my friend first passed her driving test and drove round to mine with a bunch of our mates to see if I would go to the beach with them, I was still in my pyjamas so couldn't go, and as I waved them googbye my dad shook his head at me and said "let this be a lesson to get dressed and ready for living life fully everyday" I've never forgotten that and get anxious if I'm not dressed and groomed to face the world and whatever it chooses to throw ay me that day!

Your not alone at all. Having been working from home for many years and I get ready as if I’m going to the office. Grab my shoes and my bag that have my agenda, notebook etc that are in my bag then go down to my office and start. I am so much more productive then just rolling out of bed in my pajamas. I did that for 5 months when I started working from home. And you know what happened??? Put on weight🤦‍♀️ 5kg . Made a big change and started getting dressed, making my bed and then everything else gave me more energy. Going to the gym after work and running errands. So much easier. Completely agree🥰🥰

But I just appreciate that I feel like we’re getting to see more and more glimpses of just who you are… It’s always great to be able to just be ourselves because we can’t be anybody else now can we? Really appreciated this one as well, Lydia. And to all the ladies, who work with her, thank you for all of the work you do. Yes👏🏻 I’m a stay at home mum and I still get up every single morning and do the same self-care, makeup and outfit routine as I did when I had my career… it’s just who I am and I know if I stayed in my joggers or gym wear I wouldn’t be the best version of me for my children. I love it when people make an effort first and foremost for themselves so you do you Lydia❤❤❤

I’m not eloquent, so I will make this brief. Our much beloved dog passed on March 1st. We have been so very, very sad. I informed my husband that there will be no Christmas decorations this year as I just don’t have it in me. Everything reminds me of her absence. Then I purchased Evergreen on Audible. You filled me with such hope. My decorations, no matter how hard it will be, does not mean the grieving has stopped. Perhaps this can be my way of honoring her. Thank you Lydia for reminding us to embrace the seasons, whatever they may bring.

The pumpkin seeds in my county Greece we eat for centuries now. We washed them , then dry them that would take hours and then bake them in the oven. When they’re done you can sprinkle cumin, or coriander, or turmeric if you want spicy ( the last 20 years) , or plain salt which was very common for many centuries . After they did salt, garlic powder, mustard powder. Or if you want sweet you can sprinkle sugar. But Greeks eat a lot of pumpkin seeds, they call them “pasatembos” and it was their favourite snack watching football. Still is. You cannot imagine hips of pumpkin seeds. 😂😂😂

Regarding the making and labelling of home grown produce, my Great Grandma used to hand write her labels for an even more personal touch (mind you she did have beautiful script handwriting as was taught in schools back then). She was born in 1887 and I was so lucky to know her - she died in 1990. She lived an amazing llife but one of her favourite things to do was to gift things that Great Grandpa had grown, or that she had made with the produce - pickle, chutneys or jams and honey. You make me remember her. Thank you xxx

Lots of thoughts from this video the first and main one for me, was the two guys who came to see you at the start of the signing. One of them said "we are so proud of you" which just touched me as it's just so nice to hear affirmation from others. I do hope you heard it and took probably the same message from all those who came to see you. I am sure you did, but it was just a lovely moment to see.
Another point is the working-from-home mindset. I will be changing my role next year and working at home more, so seeing this mindset of "being ready for the day" even at home is such a great idea.
    Keep moving forward 😊 ❤

You are not alone Lydia, getting ready put me in the mood of productivity. I don’t know any other way. And if it doesn’t begin at the start of the day it’s hard to come back from that laps of time. A bag needs to be pair with outfit just in case of quick errands, if you have a big errand or anything to do outside of the home. You are not alone. People sometimes act silly and ask silly questions to get a reaction. Any woman or anyone in tune with themselves know how routines affect us and know the impact of getting dressed and ready for your day.

My brain works exactly like that! After working from home for 2 years I attest to the fact that I need to be ready in an outfit I would wear to the office. If not I feel like I would not be productive. Lovely vlog Lydia 😊

Lydia! I wake up every morning, get dressed, and carry on with my day. My thought...I am ready for any occasion! errands, visitor, lunch, appointment, I'm typically ready for them all. I even started wearing really nice bed dress and bed wraps for my hair in case I ever have to jump out of bed for any random reason; I feel amazing and am always presentable for my comfort.

Lydia, I am exactly the same. I have to get up and get ready. I have been like that ever since I can remember. I also work from home. Even if I have a day off I do not stay in my pjs the whole day - I change. My parents have instilled that into my brothers and I since a very young age.

Ali's back to polishing shoes.- love it. When I was a kid , that was my job, to polish the families shoes for church on Sundays, so it was done on Saturday mornings Being German we always had some high styling leather shoes and my brother and sister had their wee ones. I used to leave my dad's to the end because his shoes were HUGE. I think he was a size 12-13. I still love the smell of good shoe polish. Like I said on Ali's page, I married a man that would lovingly polish his shoes on a regular basis, while everyone was running around in sneakers my husband ran around in his various brogues. I love shoes that are not new looking but take on a healthy patina, of good care. Especially men's shoes. It tell you quite a bit about a man, that knows how to take care of their shoes.

I work from home everyday too. And there is no way I’d spend the day in my pjs! I don’t put on outside shoes but I always put in proper clothes, do my hair, put on perfume etc. And at the end of the day I often change into something more ‘loungey’ for the evening. 😊😊

I’m exactly the same! if I’m WFH I get ready as if I’m going into the office. Its the only way I can function in a work sense. If I’m in my casual wear AND at home, I feel like I should be doing homey things. Also having my make up on, hair done and looking put together means I’m ready for impromptu coffee meetings, last minute online meetings and if someone comes to the door! You are definitely not alone.

I absolutely have to get ready to be and feel productive while working from home. You are not alone! My version is doing skincare, little bit of make up, slick hair and a comfy fresh pair of more premium trackies, because my flat is small so I don’t need a bag or shoes to walk around. However, if I had an basement office I would totally do what you do because it makes sense! Because your office is separated by levels in your home, once you go down to work, it’s not like you will be going up and down to get some bits and bobs that you need and forgot.

Shining the boots took me back so many years when I would shine my school shoes since I was 11 years old. It was a private school and shoes had to be every day nice and shiny. I loved doing it because it was like a test to me how good could I make them.

Ali for an extra extra finish shine you should fold a duster around a brush and them do a gentle finishing buff. Try it, it really does give an extra shine and finishes to perfection👌. My Dad was a cobbler. ❤ From Rosie O from Devon England 🇬🇧

Having a ritual for getting prepared for “work mode” is quite normal in my eyes, regardless if going into a different work location or working from home. The ritual can be different for everyone. A man I know opens the blinds in his home office to signify he’s “open for business” at the start of his workday and conversely closes them at the end of his work day. Physically and mentally getting prepared by getting “dressed” for work is a way that works for you. I think it’s smart to be ready to tackle whatever comes your way. Those who work in their pjs may have a delay if asked to be somewhere at the spur of the moment. Whereas you are ready at a moment’s notice to go and do immediately. I have done both and I always seem to feel a bit more on top of my game when I’m fully dressed and “presentable” to go out into the world. But as always, to each their own.
It was so good to see Lumi. She’s been a bit camera shy of late... or perhaps just renegotiating her contract! 😉😂😉 Of course it’s always a pleasure to see your boys playing and just loving life and getting attention! All your fur babies are a delight to see. Thank you for including such cute footage of them in your videos! 😍🥰😍
Really enjoyed seeing your book signings and seeing your reactions as well as the people who bought your book! The genuine pleasure on everyone’s faces was heartwarming! It’s wonderful how all these complete strangers are so thrilled for you and your successes! I couldn’t be happier for you or more proud of you for a job well done! This whole online versus in real life thing is still a bit weird to me. I know I feel invested in those I follow and truly wish them the best, as I would any friend in real life... but yet we’ve never met. It seems most of us are just very happy to celebrate along with you in our happiness for you! Congratulations and a big Woo Hoo! 🎉💗🥰

Also, Lydia, I hope you don’t have to make excuses for your success financially… I know that you’re trying to love on all the different people who are watching you and I know your heart is not to be greedy. I think it’s a beautiful thing when we have been abundantly blessed financially, to give all we can, and to serve all we can, and also, you get to enjoy it as well! These moments are great reminders for all of us. It’s really easy to get caught up in what we want to buy, and what we want to have an own, and then we realize that didn’t, and never will saw the aching in our hearts!❤

I'm very new to following along, and am slowly making my way through previous videos while doing my Christmas planning, which was very fitting! I, too, have noticed what getting ready does for me mentally. I'm home each day, homeschooling our four boys (5-14) and this season has been particularly unsettled. Not bad, but unsettled. And the entire week I have found myself under a bit of a grey cloud, and not entirely sure why. Then today it sort of dawned on me - in my busyness, I wasn't taking time to get ready, to be up before the boys for some quiet time to get ready mentally for the day (thank you day light savings), and the house was slipping into chaos a bit (I'm notorious for neat little piles of things I need to get to). Because I don't see many people (we live in a small village in Nova Scotia, Canada), and I don't have a car of my own to use, I don't really have to "get ready". It's always amazing to me how much better I feel once I've put effort into myself. Then I started bit by bit, going around and resetting the house. It's so connected for me. If my brain is chaotic, my environment quickly becomes chaotic. So to combat it, and restore order, I have to put the effort in. And it's something I have to fight to do, because I never feel like doing that. I want to curl up and get lost in a book, and pretend it's not bothering me. But I've come to learn, that when I feel like that, I just have to pick a place to start, and get to work. Before I know it, as I start to see a difference, the cloud starts lifting. Funny enough, and also tying in, the same goes for packaging and things I bring into our home. I'm so drawn to things that are calm and cohesive, and over the years have developed a very strong esthetic. I've made peace with this personality quirk, but I think it's similar to the mental/environmental. So I love the personalized labels and bits! And no, you aren't the only one who struggles with using something new - I blame being the eldest of four girls. Finally, I believe I now need to find my husband a shoe polishing kit. Have a lovely evening! PS. The random thoughts and more candid parts of your videos are my most favourite.

I’m the same with dressing for WFH! I feel horrible, low and gross if I’m in trackies, I’ve had to buy new matching pairs in my favourite colour so I do have something cosy to wear on a Sunday! I love wearing a lovely outfit that makes me feel smart and professional and confident, to do my job properly, and for ad hoc calls, and if the door goes!! I used to do no make up and now I do a full face and feel far better for it ❤
