So the issue is "it's a tad more expensive than vehicles from the size below it??" 🤔
What this reviewer forgot to say is that a bmw ix or audi q8 with the bigger battery and with the same specs as this kia are 30k more in the price. What a biased review.
With the same option it will be more to 40 or 50 K
He could say what he wants. I know that this car is way better than some brand names cars like audi and bmw.
Exactly this, it's not a like for like comparison. It's an expensive car, but good bang for buck.
kia battery is high quality. 10 % density higher. so it is expensive sk 911 battery
The fact this reporter lists "cons" compared to a BMW X7 not having the same materials says alot. "It's a con that this doesnt have the same fine grain leather as a 3 times more expensive Gasoline BMW with double the starting price having not a single actual tech feature yet at that price point. But its not a BMW so that is a fault" Roflflffl
To compare the price of a fully loaded spec EV9, vs a base spec iX is not good. The iX to have range/performance needs to be an iX50, then it will want some options, and quickly reaches £100k. Whilst still having a small boot, and only 5 seats.
^ Exactly !
I have an iX and this is much larger inside. Plus the EV9 is £30k cheaper.
Some people are stuck in the 1990’s when it comes to car prices.
Exactly the same for me! I drive an IX50 and its far more expensive. Thus I ordered an EV9, as this is not too much of a downgrade for a 40k price difference! The IX is definitely not as luxurious as I expected it to be!
Always gets me with all the touch screens in modern cars, why most are laggy, it probably cost the manufacturer $20 more to specify a faster CPU or more memory in them, they can sacrifice other areas such as materials in areas you don't see while making the screen you touch every day seem very quick.
We are living in strange times, as an average earner I can't afford a Kia, I know that is not just Kia but I think a lot of car manufacturers going bust in the next 5 years with this trend
a totally unfair review.. good detailed but absolutely not fair with the price.. compares competitors.. with base models vs EV9 full specs.. reviewer should do a proper job comparing models and all extras... not the best review of this car...
Finally a really large SUV EV. There's been such a scarcity. Large, heavy, shaped like a shed, fat wheels. Perfect for EV.
There will be many more 😒
@mrg-ghx8052 Unfortunately, yes. Younger people with kids, have SO MUCH more stuff than we had in the 70's, that they feel the need to buy a shed on wheels...
@@rivergladesgardenrailroad8834damn right , I need something to tow my dirtbikes and 2 stroke-sleds.
is it odd that the seven seat has a bench in the middle? Can’t you put three across the back for short trips and two in the middle? with the gap bteween the seats that seems a more practical way to get in too
Fantastic color graading!
Waiting for the five seater version
How big are these ev going to get
*My Uber driver picked me up in something like this the other day. I'm not sure it was the same model. it was beautiful. I was amazed by all the screens and cameras. when he would put the blinker on it would show a round circle camera with it showing the gutter*
A good and sensible review. It seems as though this is one step too far.
Last year i got a new Genesis Electrified G80, with Genesis being the premium luxury arm of Hyundai/Kia. The Electrified G80 is a large five metre long saloon who's primary rival would be the Mercedes EQE or the new BMW i5. For some perspective prior to the Genesis I had for seven years a Maserati Ghibli, and before that I had some six new Jaguar's over a twenty year period. When asked what I think of the Genesis, I say this is the best car I've owned! Unlike this new Kia it looks and feels every inch the luxury car, with the cabin, and the car itself looking and feeling more like a Bentley, and often being confused for one! Whilst at around 80k for the almost fully optioned model I have, so a little more than this EV9, you are left in no doubt that you have got more than your money's worth. Interestingly the smaller Genesis GV60 is based on the Kia EV6/Hyundai Ioniq, but thanks to a complete redesign by Genesis is transformed also into a real luxury car. Add in the five year concierge package for free servicing, and a sales strategy which sees Genesis being sold as a completely separate stand alone marque, it is clear Genesis is clear that this a serious brand in the premium sector.
Whilst Genesis do make a large SUV (GV80) its petrol and I think diesel only, so as with the GV60 if their desiners got their hands on the EV9 platform, they could have a serious rival in the EV luxury SUV sector.
As things stand it would appear the EV9 is a bridge too far!
Genesis is coming out with the GV90 which shares the same platform as this
With that size and design it's looking like it could've had a V6 and been a Telluride. But it seems car manufacturers kept all the good designs for EVs. 😔
As far as your opinion of the suspension, there is no other EV in this class, our North American reviewers thought it was excellent and a quiet ride.
British roads completely suck - so it likely exposed something you guys don’t experience too often
If it depreciates pretty fast, getting one 2nd hand or from a previous leased owner.....it might be worth the wait. 😄
The iX can't seat 7 adults. The BMW is not a direct competitor.
Try and find a fast charger, try and find one that works!🤣
the main point I think is missed; if you want an adult sized third row outside of countries which sell the American 4x4s and you don't want a van you are limited to the Merc GLS. The X7 is almost there but not quite and similarly the Nissan Patrol. Not sure about the Palisade. There is also the Grand Cherokee L (I don't believe the bigger models are done in RHD) but, the seats are rock hard.
I love it and I want one.
So with all this weight is it running on lorry tyres?
Out of interest, have you ever asked that question of a Range Rover, which tops out at 2.7 tonnes...? 🤔
@@jonathantaylor1998 the rangey can carry about 7-800kg though. This one has a max load weight of 520kg for a 7 seater. A Kia ceed can carry 490!
@@stevenham1937I’ve got a Kia ceed had no issues with carrying weight
You didn't review the 3rd as you should 😑
Battery replacement cost $55,000 so buyer beware
Its a very good car but not at a competitive pricing level. A regretful pass for me.
Damn. That’s huge in every aspect 😰
Ok!👍
I love my Hyundai diesel 2017, 7 seater Santa Fe and it's a huge value for what I paid (£25K when new, £17K now). Very reliable. I rode on an Uber EV 6 in London this week and it was impressive. So, although I can trust the brand better than say VW and Mercedes, I can't begin to fathom who in their sound mind would pay 70K for an all electric Kia. Both Kia and Hyundai lost their value for money appeal for me.
Too expensive! The costs outweigh the benefits
Aggressive forward set headrests seem to be the bane of modern cars. Is there some legislation that is driving this?
Fat people love new headrests. This car is designed for Americans, so there should be no problem.
yes, it's all about having your neck broken by getting hurts at the back. this headrest position prevent the Whiplash...
Also note during driving said forward headrest wasn’t a problem with his head never touching it.
With such driving characteristics, and enormous size, it seems the EV9 is more designed for American markets rather than the UK.
I can understand why you would think it is enormous because every review I have seen today is going on endlessly about its huge size. The truth is that it is the same size as a BMW X5 a Mercedes GLE, Range Rover Sport, Land Rover Discovery and all those twin cab pickup trucks that seem to have become so popular. Now those are all large cars but also very common on European roads and by US standard they fall into the midsize SUV class. To be considered large in that market you would need to be closer to 6 metres in length
@@obk1404 Good point. I look forward to seeing the EV9 in the metal.
@@obk1404need to thrown in the Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90 into that list as well
Looks big and frumpy. As do the Audis, BMWs and Range Rovers.
It looks far better than the ugly iX and, it's not a dreary Audi either.
I'm not in the market for a big SUV anyway but, the German brands especially are safe and dull designs. More to do with badge snobbery. The Kia wasn't designed to be ' hustled ' down twisty roads. Surprised didn't take it on a track. It's remit is a large family 7 seater.
There should be more trims for rwd
Also trims without electric third row or heated/cooled seats. They r useless options in many cases
I'd rather throw £100 a week out of my car window each week. It would save me more money than the depreciation on this if i were to buy it.
This thing will depreciate faster than a Range Rover with a pink paint job
Meh another suv. There is no point for an ev if its an suv
마치 장갑차같다.매우 튼튼하고 단단해 보인다.
I think the id buzz will be more popular if they are at an even price point
Designed for the US market. Can’t see the point, unless you’re going to use it instead of a pickup with a covered tilt. But who would do that?
What's a covered tilt? genuine question
@@paulbrowne6087- Tilt ~ aftermarket or sometimes optional extra cover for the rear open load area of a pickup. These are bolted to the load bed’s upper rim. And can be de-mountable. Farmers often go for the aftermarket option, as they can be cheaper, (mainly due to being unpainted, plus having no windows) and can be got with a flip-up-and-over grille opening.
Tilt can sometimes be got, with manual lifting component. Meaning that the cover-tilt, can hinge upward, so loading bulky things, can be achieved without the pushing/dragging on hands & knees. I think this is where the tilt got it’s name, as some and perhaps most in the past, could tilt-up like a visor.
9 seconds for 0-60, that's slow for an EV. Especially for the price.
It’s heavy though, over 2.3 tons if that helps
That figure is for the low output 2wd version. the awd version is in the 5 sec range
@@glennchinyangarara8225actually it’s 2.6 tons 😱

Nice practical car but £65k for a ..Kia!

Kia’s best design yet
They nail the design but reliability is a back burner

Too expensive for a kia! Whos going to buy this when you can get si many amazing cars for that much
Nothing remotely close in terms of size and spec. Additional £20k+ minimum to get anything like it
typical guy who goes to BMW with the idea of getting a full opt bmw iX for 85k and exit the garage shocked by is nice 138k offer...
Way too expensive.
How so, anything close to this spec from other manufacturers is going to be £20k+ more?
It’s a giant 7 seater with a max loading weight of 570kg.
Even the Sorrento which is not great has 610 and the q7 has 800kg. If you’ve driven Kia’s before you’d know how bad they feel near max weight as all of them have terrible loading weights even compared to their equivalent Hyundai version that have 10-20% better capacities
Who cares - it looks and feels extremely good. Nirmally You would drive it either alone or with one person on passanger seat. Great car
@@Andy-kp6mi LOL are you daft. It’s designed to be a 6-7 car and can’t do what it’s actually designed to do. There’s far better cars at that price point or less if you want to pose with you and your one friend 😂 why would you buy a tank to drive on your own? lol what a strange comment. It’s literally been designed as a 7 seater to fit 7 adults yet it can’t do it.
How does the Hyundai version have a 20% better cargo capacity of they are essentially the same car?
outrageous price....
Same as the weight !!
Kinda copy cat of Land Rover- Kia should be more adventurous like Toyota- more confident- but it plays safe
6 seater is more expensive than the 7 seater??
Always.
Man, that’s disappointing. Good video though!
Thanks for watching!
When will this fad of black headlinings pass - If I wanted to feel like I was a passenger in a tank, I'd buy a tank
Would you like green or purple headliners? Or perhaps pink?
Looks like a brick on wheels....
All for the price of 4 7 seater Dacia Joggers. What a scam
Prices are madness.
THIS Vehicle has to be the UGLIEST Car That KIA Have EVER Produced and at@70k ..I would Not Pay £7.00 For ONE.. On second thoughts I would not Accept One for Free From KIA.. That's How Bad this Vehicle Is In Looks It Makes Me PUKE just looking at it,
Electric SUV💤💤💤
If only there was some kind of liquid fuel source that could carried in a tank under the vehicle and topped up quickly when required. It could catch on. (instead of catching on fire)
If you want to drive a combustion vehicle with a proven 20x more risk of bursting in to flames, then be my guest, dude...! 🤣
@@jonathantaylor1998So just over 900k EV's on UK roads, vs 33 million ICE passenger cars.
So with that math, once EV's take over we'll be worse off risk wise?
@@jonathantaylor1998
@@stuartburns8657no, 20 times the risk *per car*
@@stuartburns8657 Google the Swedish MSB report - they've monitored vehicle fires across all types of cars across the years and found that, statistically, the number of EV fires (0.004% have caught fire) across all EVs driven in Sweden is 20x less than combustion engined vehicle fires (0.08% have caught fire) across all petrol/diesel vehicles.
So, that suggests that when EVs outsell combustion engined cars, the occurrence of car fires will decrease by a factor of 20.
KIA can’t give these monstrosities away in the Korean market.
Kia aimed high and failed to deliver, shame as the concept was cool
I stopped the video after 8 seconds.
Will anyone buy one of these, knowing what we now do about the problems of EV ownership and charging in GB? At least the few gullible enough will stick out like sore thumbs.
same here
No eV will ever impress me as I am intrinsically opposed to them
Why are you looking at EV videos then? Just come out of the closet already.
Saw the price stopped the video. Kia are getting greedy and overpricing their cars.
Overpriced🤔
How so, when it’s £30k+ cheaper than its nearest rival!
@@SDK2006b because its a Kia not Audi Merc or BMW its a Kia one stop above Chinese in the European market as stated many times overpriced in the comments below.
@@jontyc3479 - how can it be overpriced when it’s the cheapest car is the sector by over 30% 🤣
The problem these days is a lot of people on social media are stuck in the past with car prices.
@@jontyc3479 This is not ICE. It's EV. KIA is much superior than Audi Merc and BMW in EV technologies. Mercedes EV are actually cheap Chinese made EV with Benz logo on top. lol
And EV9's battery is 100kwh capacity. Thsi is why price of EV9 is bargain while it's tech is superior than those Audi Merc and BMW. lol
Exactly how is a 2.6 ton suv supposed to save the planet?.
It won't, but if it displaces a huge ICE SUV it is a positive step. These buyers are going to buy a 3 ton 4x4 anyway. Plus these can support the grid with V2G.
