I have to say I believe these guys were truly anointed by the Holy Spirit. Their lyrics were totally scriptural and their melodies were most tasteful and tuneful.
One of a very few real Christian bands
I saw them once live. There is no doubt in my mind that the Spirit was there. It was like worship not a concert.

As a baby Christian I attended one of their many concerts in Houston TX, It blew my mind! It was The Holy Spirit that took over and their songs touched the entire audience. It gave me joy, peace, renewal. It fulfilled me. And it convicted me. It was when they sung Judas Kiss that my body, soul and spirit surrendered to His will and His plan for me was put in motion. Now I have a ministry for the Homeless. Is my calling. Is my life! Thank you Petra! God continue to Bless you! .

This is the most spiritual song I ever heard, every word is inspired by the word of God, he has the voice of an Angel, Satan himself trembles at this song.

I was introduced to Petra by a friend. I liked this song so much I bought the CD.
I have been listening to PETRA ever since their More Power To Ya album hit the air waves. WOW ! Petra "IS" not "WAS" still a truly GREAT assembly of musical talent to listen to. Petra ushered in an entirely new style of music for faithful Christians. Ground breaking in their efforts with musical talent that only God can bestow on people is how I would describe them. Their song list is extensive and spanned decades. I am glad to say that there is not a single song of theirs that I am not familiar with. I have all of them. I Thank God for that wonderful group of musicians known as PETRA for they helped me Greatly throughout my adult life. Their music still ministers to people such as myself. Forever Thankful !

I dont know why I stopped, but I'm so...i grateful to my oldest son for listening to the Holy Spirit and played them for me when i didn't want to hear it, and i haven't stopped since and it's helped tremendously and so so blessed everyday thank you Heavenly Father for anointing this band throughout its spiritual journey with you and taking us with them, thank you Jesus amen. Heard this song while a freshmen in highschool in 1983. This sobg touched me then, as it does still now
In about 1997 or so, I saw Sixpence None The Richer in concert and they
started playing this song, and there was a collective intake of breath
from the crowd when the intro started playing because a bunch of us
instantly recognized it.
My dad showed me petra when i was little and ill never forget them. He used to sing this and why should the father bother every night

I saw EVA O sing this song at the Lizard Lounge in Dallas, TX on "church" night aka goth night. I was backsliding and didn't expect the Queen of Goth, to be plating that night, much less that she would be playing a Christian song! I was stunned to say the least. God found me in the pit of hell and said I'm still here.

One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.
I sang this for my church many years ago. The gift of the experience was learning the lyrics and taking them into my heart. Now, as I face death, I have peace and happiness in my heart. I can always bring this song into my mind, no matter what I face. I will know in my last moments, "where there's a shadow there's a light."

This song reminds me of book Pilgrim's Progress. Thanks for uploading and thanks for your cool handle, UnknownPetraFan! I feel like its too bad that KLOVE can't even have a weekend show where music from the past is highlighed. Church has done very well in overcoming segregation on Sundays but the old AGE divide is tougher! I love great new stuff I'm hearing but its good to know some long hair guys who looked 70's had same Jesus I do, though I was an 80's Christian!

I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. This past Sunday (July 6), we sang Come to Me, All Pilgrims Thirsty as our Hymn of the Day. It is #777 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship in the Trust, Guidance section. The lyrics are by Delores Dufner, OSB. The tune is to BEACH SPRING, from The Sacred Harp, Philadelphia, 1844; arr. Selected Hymns, 1985. Just thought I'd share.

I was raised Christian but now I'm Pagan. However, Petra had some awesome songs; well crafted and performed and with deep theological content. I didn't realize how talented these guys were back in the day...

It Blows my mind that that this GREAT Band hooked up with Secular KANSAS, (Which became a Christian band, for a period), during their "Chritian" Era, which PETRA WAS a Christian band, and a VERY GOOD PROG Rock Band at that!! The 2 bands would Help each other out on the road, from what I have read!
KANSAS Is GREAT! PETRA NEED's To be checked out as well = Very Underrated! But there are 3 Ers's the early, which is Folky, the PROG Years = "Greg X-Voltz" & The Heavy Metal Years, wich goes up to "Praise", And Maybe beyond, As I quit listening to music for a time after this!
But PLEASE chck out this Band! They are REALLY COOL in the 80's & 90's!
After a while, these guy got Quite Commercial and I lost interest in them. Bob Hartman Died, and I do not know what they are doing now, as I have not looked it up. Bob was kinda like Squire of YES = on Every Album! And the Bassest as well!

A Variation on 'Wayfaring Stranger' both in theme and melodic structure. A lot of people miss this, but it's basically the same song melodically with just a few chords changed.
Wayfaring has not the same lyrical depth, chordal interest, nor variety or sonic textures.

I carn hardly believe that a Christian rock group would sing a song like this! I'm not fussing and I know very little about tha kind of music. But it just seems too soothing to be that kind of mjusic. It could put someone to sleep tshat might have sleepling problems.

@fenstemakeram08 Christian music in all generations is really really great BUT it is NEVER a substitute for a relationship with Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit to the Father in His Word. Read your Bibles and pray. I want to hear "well done, good and faithful servant, enter in to the joy your Father has prepared for you" NOT "depart from me, I never knew you". Study, its not a burden, its a blessing! God bless you all!
