Petra is one of the reasons i survived my teenage years.
That's a great question. I have a large collection of Petra. And listen to them all the time. Especially when I wake up. Gets my day off to a wise start.
Because rock music isnt still accepted as is was in the 60's
Because all we have now is K-Love and Air 1. And all they play is modern worship.

Then in church the "band" is so loud you can't here the congregation sing. Cause they don't put the notes on the screen.
I love to sing but I gotta know what I'm singing.
@@jerrykinnin7941 My son does stage crew work for bands that come to town. He says they all tell him they want to do more rock type music, but they are required to only do what K-Love wants them to do.
Petra is still one of my favorite Christian groups. I was in high school when I first heard their songs. 35 years later, my heart did not change about them.

I had my life changed forever by listening to this band, and I still listen to them and I personally started playing Guitar because of Bob Hartman's excellence and uncompromising stand for the Lord Jesus Christ. Bob is the most underrated guitarest/ song writer ever.

I'm sitting here weeping right now. I haven't heard this song pretty close to 30 years, and I have gone so far in the opposite direction since then. From being a young teen among many of my friends and teens I've met during my youth group road trips and retreats introduced to our Lord and Savior, and being guided in the right direction by amazing adult role models, to joining the military and going astray. Doing drugs and alcohol, fornicating, and serving my own will. This song brought back so many memories of some of the best times I used to have. Sometimes I wish I could go back to those days...
Scott, that's the beauty of Jesus forgiveness. He can bring you back. Just ask him. It may be rough, but it's not impossible. Seek out some good Christian friends to pray for you. They will be a good support. Best,

It has been years since I've heard this song. I really miss the old Petra songs. They were so powerful.
This is true. I didn't even know what the Apostles creed was. I grew up in church, but we never covered it. When I was first exposed to it, via my girlfriends (now wife) church, I was like "why are they quoting Petra lyrics?"

I didn't hear it in my Presbyterian church either that I can remember. I first heard it through Petra at one of their concerts with my youth group in very, very early 90s!

There will never be another ministry/band like Petra. Their ministry was and still is the standard that all other Christian singers and rock bands need to emulate. This song really is their creed and they followed it to the very end. We should too.
Even you non believer can be saved, no matter how horrible your sin or how far away you are from God, You are welcome into his kingdom. Just accept his gift of forgiveness through Christ and you will be saved.

I remember listening to Petra as I was growing up, still love their music to this day
You saw me when I was at my lowest. You took me regardless of me and my wrongs. I was deep in traditions that contradicted you. The tradition that kills the actual truths. Yet You died for me! You paid the price for my Salvation!. You saved me in 1978 and I thank you so much!

My favorite Christian band of all time.....by a mile ! What a legacy of commitment to the cause which is only possible because God was central in all they did.
I have been a fan from the nineties from back in India. Thought it would be nice to see them perform live and finally did see and meet them in Texas when they were on their farewell tour.

Imnot christian, but this is awesome.
No problem. There's still room at the cross. He doesn't turn anybody away. As long we have breath, God is waiting patiently. This song is the true definition of the Faith for which we are called heavenward in Christ Jesus. May it be so in my life and the rest of believers alike.

Big daddy, I agree . This whole album was excellent. I saw them twice with Greg volx, twice with John schlitt. Both excellent with the pipes. John was a little more personable I think but their ministry was always top . They shared their faith, had alter calls , and pointed to Jesus our need for redemption

Much needed song today. We believe in so many different ideas in 2018. Christianity in 1990 would never have predicted how scattered & leaderless we are today. We need a creed to bring us under one banner. Jesus Christ is that banner, one banner for ALL Christianity, not denominations, or traditions.

After reading Mere Christianity and becoming a Christian (I called myself that for a long time but in my heart was only a Deist), it's stuff like this that gets me really excited about the after life and what's in store for me until then.

Petra has proven to be one of the few bands that I'll listen to an album of theirs and think there's no way the next one I listen to can measure up to it. Then I pop in the next and think to myself, "Holy crap, this is as good as the last album I listened to!" Outside maybe their first album, which isn't like this song at all, they've made virtually no songs that I've gotten bored with quickly.
