When I was in high school this happened to my friends grand Cherokee on the highway. And me being 15 goes, “how do you know if your speeding?” And the older friend said, “I would say, officer…… I was going 0.” 🤣 I laughed pretty hard.
Im not a civic owner, however as an accord owner I can tell you this is most certainly true, fuck my exhaust is in place because of such a divine invention. She’s holding up an angled Ktuned 2.5” muffler and let me tell you. It fuckin works, worked through snow storms, the hottest summer days. Praise be to the zip ties and Honda AMEN!
Fuel tank sensor on the pump and ONLY use powdered graphite to re lubricate the speedo cables. I've got a 01 prelude but I love the older ones too. Don't give up on it. If I had my subi sold I'dmake an offer
I had this happen on a vw golf. It was the vehicle speed sensor. Good thing is, since the car didn’t think it was moving, the odometer never went up either. 5k miles driven and it stayed at 135,000 total
My 93 civic that I built and drove and played with in highschool yes I modded a civic but light mods like turbos exhaust system header, head work done to the head new forged rods and pistons. When I got it the odometer read 45k miles the person I got it from took care of it and barely drove it cause she was a elderly lady. The speedometer sensor went out at 53k miles and the odometer never moved so when I sold it I finally fixed the Speedo sensor cause I wanted everything to work when I sold it and I probably put 100k miles on it as I was modding it and I made 5500 dollars profit bought it for 1100 sold it for 12,500 and made 5500 dollars profit cause I had 10k and some change in parts just in the motor
either need a new vehicle speed sensor (it’s located on the transmission near the back under the intake, easy fix) or a new speedometer/gauge cluster (also relatively easy)
As an person studying car mechanics I can say that the reason for that could be electrical issue but it’s an civic what did you expect(no hate to civics we just get a lot of civics)
Hector is going to be running three Honda civics with spoon engines, and on top of that, he just went into Harry’s and bought three t66 turbos with nos, and a motec exhaust system!
@@monsterTrejox It's on your transmission, on the top Rear. Should be a Three Prong Plug. The sensor is black, should be a 10mm or 12mm bolt on it, once you take the bolt out, you can pull it straight on out,
It’s even funnier for me, my dash lights don’t work properly so I have to hit the dash a certain way for them to come on. Most of the time at night, I can’t even see how fast I’m going
Common issue on 90s Hondas. I bought my 94 Accord wagon that way. Every now and then it would work for a couple minutes then go back, mine was stuck at 20 mph, and the odo is in the same cluster so the mileage wasn't accurate either.
Honda speedo cables suck to repair... the older ones are cable driven and hook up to the transmission manually. Either the cable snapped, disconnected or has seized up. You will have to pull the cluster out and disconnect the cable off the back but ut wont have mych play to get in there. Only use powdered graphite to lubricate the cable and door locks. Hope this helps someone in the future
VSS " Vehicle Speed Sensor " on your transmission went bad, its a black Sensor on the top backside of your transmission. They sometimes go bad but very cheap to replace.
I would love to see civic drivers driving a C6 Z06 😂 they aren’t the fastest of cars but going from a 1.8 or smaller to a 7.0L V8 would probably be pretty damn crazy
As a former civic owner I had that issue. Full throttle, filled with premium, autozone intake and mixed in with chevron additive and yet mph won’t even go to 1.
The actual truth behind this vid, some cars back in the day (usually diesel) have a speedo on and off switch due to the fact diesel vehicle have to pay road user for “being to heavy and wrecking the roads” so people installed these so the miles wouldn’t clock up that way when they got it serviced, the road user charge would be vertically non existent since they didn’t do any miles because the switch was off.
Probably when you got a new clutch installed, there’s this speedo gear that wasn’t screwed in all the way. That happened to me once. The speedo gear is on the passenger side of the engine towards the bottom.
To fix this, you need to check your vtec sticker. It might be peeling.

I had this happen to me in my del sol
Only a real civic driver knows that you have to gently caress the top of the dash with a firm but respectful slap to get her to cooperate.
Exactly 😂

Once the speedometer is repaired…the Civic will most likely get another 100000 miles.
Actually that’s either your speed sensor or the blow speed sensor/ alternator fuse in the under dash.
This was a problem in my 1990 Honda accord got into a fender bump and the needle came out 💀
people do this to not add mileage on the odometer.
