Very good and detailed video! I think that you should have mentioned the cases that someone is allergic to amoxicillin and the alternative scenario. What about clindamycin or clarythromycin?
Very informative, what in case of penicillin allery patients which do you prefer dr, please make a video on drugs used in dentistry during pregnancy and lactation thanks
Tetracyclines (e.g. doxycycline), quinolones (e.g. ciprofloxacin), macrolides (e.g. clarithromycin), aminoglycosides (e.g. gentamicin) and glycopeptides (e.g. vancomycin) are all unrelated to penicillins and are safe to use in the penicillin allergic patient.
Thank you sir. It was very informative 🤝🤝 . Sir I have some doubts. 1)Why we are prescribing h2 blocker along with an antibiotic? Is it really for counter acting the gastric irritation caused by inhibiting cyclo oxygenase enzyme which actually helps to produce PG E2 for reducing HCL production
And gastric irritation is common side effect. Its not necessary to give Ranitidine with all the antibiotics. Its optional. It's given beforehand because any drug you take has some issue with gastritis and patient feels that the doctor has given some wrong treatment. So to prevent this most of the doctors prescribe these medications before hand.
Sir, if we give pain killer as sos in reversible or irreversible pulpitis or in apical periodontitis..it may cause resistant to that particular drug if patient taken occasionally..? My second question is why pain killer taken in full dosage form in infection cases like abscess ..?
First thing pain killers work in different mechanism. NSAIDs work by blocking (inhibiting) the effect of chemicals (enzymes) called cyclo-oxygenase (COX) enzymes. COX enzymes help to make other chemicals called prostaglandins. Some prostaglandins are involved in the production of pain and inflammation at sites of injury or damage. So there wont be any resistance. Resistance happens with antibiotics where bacteria will become resistant if antibiotics used improperly and freequently.
Pain killer or any drug is given as per the body weight of the person. Tats how its calculated and set as child and adult dose by the standardised formula.

Sir instead of 1__1_1 we can write TID right? No need to right TID and 1_1_1 at the same time??
Yes. Its good to write 1-1-1 instead of TID. Patient can easily understand the frequency.
