I’ve seen people use templates, I use strip and box mitres for speed but I would make templates for bays and 45s and then using this for anything in between. Great video thank you!
Thanks for all the videos you put out for gutters, as I just bought a used gutter machine and am looking to start building a gutter business. So I appreciate everything you put out.
I think after all the years the gutter industry has been around it seems there would be a better fastener then a sheet metal screw. Kinda counter productive when sticking up through a water and debris trench. Screws serve as a hang up point for leaves and other stuff that run into the gutter. I guess a precise sized rivet would be a little better but more labor to pre drill first. Just seems that the goal would be to provide as little resistance as possible on the slope to the downspout.
Is it possible to T into a gutter? I have a roof that overlaps by 8 inches and I'm considering doing a custom T like this rather than a huge kickout to 90 degree.
Hey Cameron! Thank you for your comment. We stick with strip miters (for 90° angles) and handmade corners (for weird angles) for the sake of durability. Some jobs require a box miter, we'll get you a video about it!
Great video, first video i came across for a custom corner. You forgot to mention cut to desire water flow direction, other than that its informative. Thanks
Midwest snips. You can buy them on Amazon but make sure you don't overpay because some parties will sell it for alot I bought mine for $45 for a left and right
Hey you could just actually use math to draw out the angle or trace it out to find the intercept instead of wasting a bunch of time eyeballing it or using a chopsaw
Thank you, probably the best tutorial on joining miter cuts

Great stuff ! Been doing gutters for the past 3 years, and loving it. Any chance you can put out a diagram for the cuts and tabs please ?
We'll see what we can come up with. Thanks for watching
I found a 12 inch chopsaw is the gutter installers best friend next to the double cut tin snips.
Fantastic content, thanks so much Josh. Sending you good energy from Vancouver BC Canada
Much appreciated!

Another way to think about it is the top and bottom of the gutter are your real reference points. Good pointers here specially using snips.
Am about to start a gutter biz.
We are excited for you!! Hopefully we can be of value. We are just getting back into a weekly upload schedule so if you have any questions let us know

heck yeah!
Thanks, good stuff!
Thanks Josiah - You should start a rain gutter business!!!!!
Thank you so much! This is next-level stuff. Do you have any tips for working with box miters or do you do all your corners like this?

What is the thing with going from Left to Right and Not from Right to Left when doing gutters?
We try to work from the uphill to downhill gutter. So in this case tabs on the higher gutter.
Made it look easy. I’m sure I will waste a few sticks before I am satisfied with my work

where can i buy those gutter brackets with the clip on the back???????????? b$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I hear a lot of companies use miter strips on older house and will only make the corners on new builds. Is that right?
we use strip miters for pretty much everything. It is a lot easier to train someone to install a strip miter
We’re did u get those snips at

I've actually switched to Milwaukee snips. They are available local to me and seem to last longer
why zip screws over rivets?
we used to use rivets! They look awesome, just not as serviceable for the average person. never had anyone complain about screws
whats that angle tool called?
Most construction protractors work well. We use a starett angle finder
Outside angles are easy, how about the inside angles? The K-style curves are a BITCH to mate well!
In california we call this a bastard miter
That is a really fitting name!
But have fun doing a harder and less effective way

Hi, is there any way to show us math draw, I'm sure it would be even more accurate then eyeballing! Thanks
Rather than do all this use a chop saw! Save time and money.
We used to use chop saws. Guillotines are less maintenance and noise. They both have pros and cons
