Myles Kennedy performs "Hallelujah" with Jeff Buckley's Fender Telecaster.

- On December 9th 2019 Alter Bridge performed at L'Olympia in Paris, a venue very near to their hearts due to it being the location of Jeff Buckley's historic live album. Our dear friends from Matt's Guitar Shop were able to help supply a truly amazing experience for everyone in the room - Jeff Buckley's famous Fender Telecaster. This is the first time this song was played on this guitar in public since Jeff.
This venue, this song, this guitar... it was a moment we will never forget.

He was so nervous and moved. You can see it on his face, his hands. Myles is an extraordinary artist not only because of his skills. He feels the music deep in his soul. He is still the guy who listened to Jeff Buckley in wonder and dreamed of singing like him. This performance meant the world to him. Not a rockstar on a stage, but a fragile, soulful human with a huge talent. That's where the beauty comes from. Thank you, Mr. Myles Kennedy.
Noname he wasn’t nervous at all
Whether or not he was nervous, I think you are overall right & what you said, you said beautifully!!
@@ImPERiumCasts Thank you so much.

He really grew as an Artist over the years, I saw him live for the first time 4 years ago and I saw him live with Alter Bridge, Solo, and with Slash. It was amazing every single time. And everytime he seemed a little Bit more relaxed. Long Story short, I totally agree.
It's so rare to see Myles perform Hallelujah, and to have seen him perform it with Buckley's guitar will have been a once in a lifetime experience. Goosebumps all the way through!
Theres 3-4 + acoustic renditions of him doing it on YT!! Check them out
I saw him do it with Living Colours singer around the time when Leonard Cohen died. Special moment
It would be even better if he played something other than 2 chords every twelve year old knows how to play.
Rendition of the song is not bad, but why the hell did he take his guitar to play 2 chords over and over again, is far beyond me.
No intro, no solo, no nothing, just G,D. Such a shame.

I wonder how Myles would sound singing Grace

I was thinking of the same thing the last time I've listened to Grace! I'm sure he would be amazing, honestly he has everything needed to sing Jeff's songs, doesn't he?
Nathalie Tz listen to his Mayfield Four stuff Myles sounds very similar at times
Nathalie Tz I believe so as well. He may just hold back on more Buckley covers out of respect and humility.
If you think about it, the final part of.words darker than their wings is a sort of tribute to Grace's Jeff Buckley.

The singing of Myles Kennedy is the one of the most honest singing that I heard in my entire life. Bravo.
I thought this was gonna be a crowd cam or anything low quality take and then realized this on official AB channel. Couldn't be more happier.
Myles Kennedy with a Telecaster makes so much sense. I don't know why it didn't happen sooner.
I think he played a telecaster fairly regularly with the Mayfield Four.
Mihai Romano its jeff’s guitar
@@outrageousgamer315 He's also playing a Tele during this year's tour.
Oh wow that's a very true statement. His voice compliments the tele twang so beautifully. Thanks for that.
Yeah saw them at LA and he mostly played a relic black Telecaster with some kind of rail pickup. The tone really stood out and contrasted well to Mark's super muscular tone too.
I've long believed that nobody but Jeff Buckley could perform the Jeff Buckley version of Hallelujah. I have heard many attempts at covering it - and honestly nobody else could do it this well. Myles is probably the best rock vocalist in the world right now. This is a beautiful rendition, and a wonderful tribute to Jeff. I had goosebumps and spine shivers all through the performance.
If i'd been in the room, I would remember this moment not only for the rest of my life, but probably in my future lives as well.
love you for that Myles
Omg lol listen to version of miljenko matijevic
His vocals are much powerful
👍 I agree that Myles does a 💖 🎤 (and 🎸) ‘cover’ of this original Cohen song! BUT, imho, Bon Jovi also did an outstanding one of it too! I never would have expected that either of them could do it the justice it deserves - 👏 to both! It’s such a touching, ‘classic’ from years ago. Too bad that so much of our current music isn’t as good as it used to be - for the most part that is.
I was there with my 8yo son. It was his first concert - his favorite band - my Xmas gift for him.
We were at the first row on the balcony. Miles saluted him from the scene at the end of the show.
When we went out, I bought him a T-shirt of the tour and he told me it was the best day of his life. Saying this, he made mine.
Thanks AB for this moment !

Love that the crowd has so much respect to just live the moment...
Ben Martin we were spellbound and, frankly, crying
One of the most beautiful voices from this century.
I think what I really appreciate about Myles Kennedy, as a vocalist, is his willingness to be vulnerable. Lower-voiced vocalists we hear hitting strong high notes are always people who are willing to take risks, because that's an unavoidable part of what it takes to do that with those voices. But I love the very open sincerity Myles Kennedy responds with when his voice does something other than what he intended. He's exceptionally brave and unguarded about the way he faces his fears, and it's hard not to be drawn into a kind of strange connection as someone watching him, because he allows it to be so personal. I guess that's the point though, right?
Long live the poet Leonard Cohen.
When Bon Jovi covered this he thought Buckley wrote but found out it was Cohen and corrected himself. Hilarious. 🤣. My all time favorite version was some Japanese girl I never heard of who goes by GEM? 🤷🏻♂️ It's on RUclips somewhere. Beautiful cover. 👍
You forgot the word GREAT...THE GREAT MR. COHEN
Mr Cohen - an amazing poet.
My dream- I want to go your concert
Неделю назад были.. Божественно
There were parts where his voice sounded exactly like Jeff's voice, especially the long note he held towards the end of the song, the vibrato, the emotion. This is a guy who knew exactly what Jeff Buckley was all about.
Closest I've heard is an amateur called Joe Garvey here on youtube, he's been inactive for years.
I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT IT IS LEONARD COHAN WHO WROTE THIS SONG..ONE OF CANADA'S GREATEST WRITER-PERFORMERS
THIS MAN IS A ROCK + MUSIC LEGEND. Take it in people. You say you were alive to witness a man with music in depths of his SOUL.

The best cover in terms of a testament to Jeff Buckley's greatness that I've ever heard or seen performed. Myles is truly one of the best vocalist | guitarists of this generation and sadly unknown in most circles. The greatest thing is he wouldn't give a rip and that is beautiful.
I know few balms for sadness like Jeff Buckley and his "Grace." Myles has that talent to penetrate hearts and spread that feeling of melancholy.
Jeff Buckley: esa celestial creencia ❤
Esta versión me llega al corazón y al alma tanto como la versión del querido y entrañable y hermoso Jeff!
Imagine actually getting to put your hands on the guitar that once belonged to an incredibly talented legend. Personally, I could never. It'd be borderline sacrilegious. Staring at it face-to-face would be enough to take my breath away. But who else to trust but Myles. Tearjerking, raw, and soulful. 👏🏻
The guitar shop he thanks at the end called " Matt's guitars" is probably one of the best stores to find guitars that belonged to legends. It's in Paris if you ever wish to look it up.
It’s very rare music makes me shed a tear, my god myles has such a beautiful voice, it’s not just his soft vocals but it’s his range and control he has, he truly is one of a kind
Fuck man, I literally never cry about anything, I've wondered if I even can, but this song always gets me. The greatest song ever written in my opinion.
He is so stressed, but still so extraordinary and professional. See at 5:28 as he sings hallelujah , he unconsciously dropped the larynx too low, (that's why the sound came out distorted) then he immediately understands it and sings "ooooh" to bring his larynx to a neutral position. What a singer!
Nice catch
This is a rare mythological moment. Rest in power Jeff.

Now I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you dont really care for music, do you?
It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth
The minor falls, the major lifts
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew her
She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Well, maybe there's a God above
As for me all I've ever learned from love
Is how to shoot somebody who outdrew you
But it's not a crime that you're hear tonight
It's not some pilgrim who claims to have seen the Light
No, it's a cold and it's a very broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Instrumental
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Well people I've been here before
I know this room and I've walked this floor
You see I used to live alone before I knew ya
And I've seen your flag on the marble arch
But listen love, love is not some kind of victory march, no
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
There was a time you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show it to me, do you?
And I remember when I moved in you
And the holy dove she was moving too
And every single breath we drew was Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Now I've done my best, I know it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didnt come here to London just to fool you
And even though it all went wrong
I'll stand right here before the Lord of song
With nothing, nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah
