I am 69, a lifelong Simon & Garfunkel fan and a stranger to Disturbed before today. This is amazing, I'm in tears. Thank you guys.
I love hearing this from someone who would be from my parents era. My parents have both passed and I thank them both for passing on their love of music to me. I love music across mostly all the genres and especially love that new bands are paying tribute to the greats of our time, exactly like this amazing performance. Keep on rocking!

I also cried the first time I heard it having been a lifelong S&G fan; some of my earliest memories are of listening to the Bridge Over Troubled Water album with my mum whilst doing the housework on a weekend morning... dusting along to Cecilia!! But the Disturbed covers of The Sound of Silence... are just incredible... give me goosebumps every time.

The Truth uhhhh no, no he’s not. Just because someone is popular does not mean overrated. The noted he can hit show a ton of discipline, he is very talented but also worked very hard to achieve that level of skill.

@David Bristow Hate is a strong word, but I don't prefer this over the original by far. It's not as bad as the cover by that Gold Rush guy, but it just misses the magic of the original.
Not entirely sure how many times I've watched this, but I'm always blown away by the fact that two men sound like a whole f*cking choir singing perfectly in synced layers. It's absolutely ridiculous and incredible.
Considering there was NO rehearsal, this is spectacular music and not just because I like the artists or the song. You obviously have an appreciation for vocal harmonies in songs. :)

Maddy, I’m 67 and think the same way as you about this song’s cover - EXCEPT for me David’s solo video version performance which is done in black and white, including the background scenery, is EVEN BETTER than this! If you have a chance, check it out - I guarantee you’ll be just as moved and touched by it like this one (if not more)! That’s the one I’m going to have played at my funeral, and I’m not kidding about this either!) Actually, I do listen and watch them both every day - at least once, if not more!

In fact (in case you didn’t read my original comments, THIS is the one that I’m going to have played at my funeral when the time comes that is (😆 lol, hopefully not for a while yet!). I think that everything about it is appropriate - the voice, lyrics, and even the video background. I find it amusing that so many of us ‘older’ people appear to be enjoying it more than the ‘younger’, and heavy metal music listeners, based solely on the # of their comments!

Myles Kennedy is next level. Disturbed's cover of this is good, this is amazing.
High School in 1962. Vietnam in 1967, and I came home. So you might say I've heard all the originals of what we now hear as covers. And yes, although I've put away the LPs and Cds etc, I still pull them out occassionally. Having said all that, this has to be the best cover of The Sound of Silence I have ever heard. And the music goes on, and it will.

The best way I can describe this is the cover that Disturbed originally did is a canvas, and they created a beautiful piece of art that had never been seen before. What Myles Kennedy did was take that flat canvas, and created a 3D object that no one had even thought of. It truly added a depth to this song that I did not believe was possible. Simply incredible.
This is how you sing the backup vocals to one of the best songs in recent memory. Myles comes in and absolutely kills it with the harmonizing, but lets David have the spotlight. He drops his voice and lets David have his more emotional lyrics, but still props up the whole performance and brings it to another level. Disturbed absolutely killed with this rendition of Sound of Silence and I have friends and family that never even heard of Disturbed absolutely enamored with this song. Every time this comes up on my playlist at work I stop everything and watch it.

Dude, check out Myle's band Alter Bridge. They're made up of former Creed members, but they're still fantastic. This is one of their best and most iconic songs, named Blackbird, which actually won the award for best guitar solo of all time by both critics and fans back in 2011. It was written after a friend of theirs passed away as a tribute to him, and it's a perfect example of both Myle's vocal ability as well as his and Mark Tremonti's guitar skills.

Please, I ask no hate responses, yes disturbed did it better and then tried to one up it but in my opinion and its just my observation as everyone is different but I thoughts the notes for miles Kennedy should have been slightly different....higher or lower during certain parts because there was parts that just didn't sound good at all but the rest and for 99% of the song he kicked ass....by the way did they just wing this with no prior practice?? I think I read that somewhere about this concert but can't remember the source, sorry.

As for Myles vocals: it does not sound "pure" (in lack of a better word) all the time, but I think it's because of the mixing. Perhaps that's it what was "annoying" you🤔 It probably would sound a little different as a studio version ... idk. But anyway, they did both a fantastic job!

I thought when I saw Myles come up oh man, I love that he made the duet a solo, why change it...then I heard, another just absurd vocalist with the same gritty energy. The fact that David's voice sounds practically the same here than in the studio version is the definite proof of what an amazing singer he is.

The harmony in this is insane and so totally difficult to do especially live - so impressive - two great voices and one of the best remade covers ever ..! The harmony they carry is so difficult and at least 5 pitch changes I counted - amazing !! Simply amazing .. Of course I've heard the original- Simon & Garfunkel are originators this changes the entire song to relate to 2016 not 1967-- talent, amazing and beautiful!

I grew up listening to Simon and Garfunkel perform thia song.Then I watchedI Disturbed sing this on Conan O'Brian's show and thinking that was the epitome of what this song could be, that this song could never be improved upon. And then there was this. And the hits just keep on coming.

I’m 70 but never appreciated the words of this song…it was just a pretty sound when it first came out. Disturbed & Myles have given me a new appreciation of this song. I listen to this version often & it brings tears every time. Thank you.
This is difficult to express. I'm over 70 and do remember Simon and Garfunkel and their version of the Sound of Silence. It was pretty but meant nothing to me... just another song. My daughter introduced me to "Disturbed" and their rendition. After all these years, this song just hits me to the soul. It says so much that I couldn't understand back then and couldn't really see. I have become addicted to the words and addicted to "Disturbed" . Now a playlist brings the synchrony with Myles Kennedy! At 72, I'm Blown Away! I remember what I could not see and I Feel the tears too. Thank you for what you've added to My Life!

Distrubed's version of this song was my favorite rendition until I heard this. Myles' addition made me shut up and listen. His counterpoint is on fucking fire and gave another depth to a Marianas trench cover to a deep sea song. Dio was waiting in the midnight seas for this particular cover. Great damned performance from everyone and thank you to Myles for joining this. By all the gods above and below, that alone made a change that was needed, but not known.
