Had a ln106 with similar hd auto kit no intercooler thing ran 25 psi all day loved it went through 2022 floods in Lismore 2 metres under and still loved life after the thing still lives on 25psi still!
Wish you guys live streamed builds. Would be so sick to just watch you muck around in the shed and talk shit to us about things you've done in the past sheds
@TJANDMAC hi, I wanna build my dream hilux too but I'm not getting enough help. My pickup is in a country where not many skilled workers on technical knowhow. Could you please help and guide me ?
TJ #iwearglovesmorethananyoneelseworkingonmycar the gloves came oyt and then Macca jumped on board it's great see that you're wearing the Byron Bay safety boots, only Blake had the Crocs on he's thinking a head
You should really go with dual transfer cases. They're pretty big here in the states and a must have for rock crawling. Look up Marlin Crawler's adapter plates.
You can also cut a slit in your old bearing race (3-4mm) and put it in your hub backwards to knock your new races in. The slit will allow you to remove it easily.
Awesome video. I just fixed a leak on the rear of my LN65 diff. I heard you said you should have used a gasket instead of sealer while installing the front centre portion. I made a gasket from flexiod (product found in South Africa to make gaskets) and used sealer with it. Would you suggest the sealer, only the gasket, or both while rebuilding? I need to rebuild the front end when I have time...
I’ve always had good luck with using sealer! But gaskets can work just aswell. It would be unusual for a diff face to bend or twist but if it’s had lots of welding done it could happen. That’s when sealer will work better than a gasket!
Ive always had solid axle cars and i was told when you seat the front bearings to tighten that 54mm nut up to as tight as possible, turn the brake disc around, then tighten again and turn again 3 times. Once thats done, back it off loose, then tighten to 5nm. Check play and set to whats needed. Always worked well for me the last 15 years. Love the rest anyways guys. Top stuff.
Get yourself some of those needles that go on your grease gun. Handy for regreasing ungreasable ball joints but more importantly really nice for greasing bearings!
Stoked on this build, saw Big Mac in the cruiser today towing a s1* Silva painted a fresh colour won’t say any more about that 🤙 in other news gave him the limmy finger but he was to focused on the fences ahead and missed it… next time might hear the big girl on song 😉
Awesome build guys!! I seriously want a hilux now. Wife is still checking my browser history though! 🤣 How bad is it that she is looking for car sites and not porn 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wey was tj in Melbourne on the 25th coz I saw a nav identical to tjs one I was on the train and I'm like holy f no way that's tjs nav why does it look identical
Always do the wheel bearing tension and check for play with tyre on doing it by hand is not accurate better off with the tyre resistance on the wheel bearing and check for play as tightening
I hope you shimmed the king pin bearings off camera! You're supposed to use a drag scale to measure the resistance otherwise steering can feel shithouse. You can also use the pull scale on the wheel stud to measure the preload on the wheel bearing and get it just right on both sides.
Love your work fellas, keep it up 👌👌👌 On another note, with that entire wall of kincrome you have, i would have thought the boys would have thrown in k1705 (wheel bearing packer) for you. Seems a bit rough they didn't 😂😂😂🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Massive! Good to see some folks commenting from OS also. First the Sunny coast, tomorrow the world!!! My old n70 gets jealous watching this I'm gonna have to show it some lerve...✌️💪🔥
T.J. Making crocs cool since 99 The ep was sweet, why you apologising?? Was cool to see front end build. We'll appreciate how much dang work goes into this shit before you get to flog it up glassy hills
pretty sure mac wanted to build a bagged 2wd singlecab to sit next to it 😜 nice work lads
Haha not wrong 😅
Haha I wanted to park the Apache under it for a shot and forgot 😂
Great episode boys!!!
I got 1993 3.0L surf…. So good to watch this 🫶
Thanks !

Ah well that’s good to know ! Thanks
Hahaha sick!! Maybe we should crank it up a bit 😂
I saw a Mazda in town with a sticker that said no wasted weekends 😂😂
Good to see you have your safety crocs on TJ 😂
Haha surprisingly better then thongs anyway , no spanners to the toes 😅
Great job guys!! What are the name of those rims? I’ve been trying to find them everywhere 😭😂
Wish you guys live streamed builds. Would be so sick to just watch you muck around in the shed and talk shit to us about things you've done in the past sheds
Haha might end up getting 18+ rated if we did that 😂
@@macpreston so I hear, time for a second channel for all the uncut versions and car washing videos :D
You’s have done it again with a shit hot video, top job mate, cheers
Haha thanks as always !
sick vid, btw are the diffs the same width like the ln106 and surf rear diff, are they the same?
No it’s been corrected I think in the front
Great episode. Love the build. Thanks for the step by step guide. Alot of channels don't do this. You guys are great
Thanks Michael !
@TJANDMAC hi, I wanna build my dream hilux too but I'm not getting enough help. My pickup is in a country where not many skilled workers on technical knowhow. Could you please help and guide me ?
Yeah the Surf! Super popular over here in NZ, cool to see one getting some love over the ditch
Haha yeah loving it !
Sick video guys! Definitely giving this thing the makeover it deserved 🤙
Thanks mate 🤩
More quality viewing for us peasants to drool over...😂❤...that lux is looking spanky Boyz. Noice.😎🤘
Thanks mate !
Legends not peasants mate we’re all the same yeeehaaa 💪🏼💪🏼
Looking mint lads, as always great episode, keep ‘‘em coming, love ya work.
Might pay to check rear diff breather bro, being block causes vacuum in housing, front poured out consistently means breathers good 🤙🏽
I was thinking the same thing
Ahhh yeah that makes sense actually thanks mate ! Will do
Great spot guys will defs have a sus of that thanks!
Wednesdays with you lads is a weekly highlight 🥰
Thanks my dude 🤩
Love u long time boi 😘
Awesome lads, just bloody awesome. SHED LIFE!
Did you just replace the drag link etc just to make it look nicer under there? Can’t blame ya lol, mint
Na original parts had taken a hit , were bent
Choking your chicken has a different meaning on this side of the world.. But those "33.s" are looking sick! loving the build thus far
Haha thanks mate !
sick video boys, macca you should do mullets for mental health with the black dog institute
TJ #iwearglovesmorethananyoneelseworkingonmycar the gloves came oyt and then Macca jumped on board it's great see that you're wearing the Byron Bay safety boots, only Blake had the Crocs on he's thinking a head
😝
Blakey is a game changer 😂
I have a stock as ln130 with a 2l-te.
Is this a kit that HD Auto sell? 11:56
Yep sure is ! Hit them up
You should really go with dual transfer cases. They're pretty big here in the states and a must have for rock crawling. Look up Marlin Crawler's adapter plates.
Yeah been looking into it
Few people think the shorter wheel base won’t leave much of a tail shaft in the rear ..
Always good to get a notification for this channel!
You can also cut a slit in your old bearing race (3-4mm) and put it in your hub backwards to knock your new races in. The slit will allow you to remove it easily.
Can also run a bead of weld (migs better) on bearing race and cool shrink with water and it’ll fall out 🤙🏽
Great tips guys! Will remember!
This is a tuff rigggggg also like that it became a how to video cheers boys. Engine content next plz
Coming up soon !

I made a gasket from flexiod (product found in South Africa to make gaskets) and used sealer with it. Would you suggest the sealer, only the gasket, or both while rebuilding? I need to rebuild the front end when I have time...
Mac normally just uses the sealer but whatever works for you mate !
@TJ AND MAC cool. The only reason for my asking, obviously it is much faster just to use sealer...
I’ve always had good luck with using sealer! But gaskets can work just aswell.
It would be unusual for a diff face to bend or twist but if it’s had lots of welding done it could happen. That’s when sealer will work better than a gasket!

Thanks for the tip mate! Yeh I’ve always just cranked it up spin it than back off and nip up almost finger tight! Like u said 5nm!
Get yourself some of those needles that go on your grease gun. Handy for regreasing ungreasable ball joints but more importantly really nice for greasing bearings!
Thanks !
Need!!
Looking great nice work you both are doing on the Hilux so looking forward to seeing the finished product
Might be worth investing in a grease needle, less mess and way quicker for greasing up bearings 👌
Haha u might be rite! Never used one before I’ll defs investigate
Stoked on this build, saw Big Mac in the cruiser today towing a s1* Silva painted a fresh colour won’t say any more about that 🤙 in other news gave him the limmy finger but he was to focused on the fences ahead and missed it… next time might hear the big girl on song 😉
Haha he has a lot going on at the moment 😝
Hahaha I must have been in the zone defs next time 😂
You guys are making the sickest content at the moment. Cant wait to see and hear the Hilux when its done 😜🤙
Thanks mate ! Same !

Awesome build guys!! I seriously want a hilux now. Wife is still checking my browser history though! 🤣 How bad is it that she is looking for car sites and not porn 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Haha bloody love a good hilux find don’t blame ya !
😂😂😂😂
After watching the hilux videos, I'm thinking of selling my 90 series prado to buy a ln106 duel cab.
Me to haha
@Mac Preston I wonder if TJ would wanna do a swap once the hilux is done 😆
Get a bearing packer lads, makes greasing bearings lots cleaner 👌
For sure !
Get a mullet👍
💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Been looking forward to the follow up hilux episode. Absolutely love the early hiluxes from '79 to mid 80's. Edit: Mid nineties I mean

You are about to learn that building hilux diffs is an absolute waste of money.
Sounds like I’ll get good at it 😅
@@TJANDMAC every one who owns one of these goes through it, then realised should’ve went straight 80 series diffs
I’ve heard this haha 😂

Heaps of progress Lads, the bonnet cam was a cool way to view the work!
Thanks mate! Always trying to come up with weird and wonderful things to spice it up haha
@@macpreston That is why you Boys have the most enjoyable, entertaining and relevant content regarding builds and off roading. Cheers.

Thanks mate! Always happy to share my limited knowledge that could get someone out of a pickle!
i understood 3% of the content of the video, but loved 100% of every minute of it.
Haha thanks for sticking through it 😅
@@TJANDMAC can't get enough. It's the only way I get through my week.
Hahaha I sometimes gibber on 😂 glad u liked it mate 👊🏼
only suggestion would have been to dial in the correct pre load tension on the swivel hub bearings especially cause your running massive tyres.
Good point !
Solid !
love the video boys keep it up 🙏
Good progress, love the wheels!
Another absolutely killer episode lads. 🙌🙌
Thanks !
Frothing this build lads

I hope you shimmed the king pin bearings off camera! You're supposed to use a drag scale to measure the resistance otherwise steering can feel shithouse. You can also use the pull scale on the wheel stud to measure the preload on the wheel bearing and get it just right on both sides.

New sub. Love the videos. You guys would benefit greatly from some LAV mics. Really hard to hear the dialogue most of the time.
Hey mate what coils and rear shocks are in the hilux surf chassis please
Hey guys what rims are you running on the lux . Great content 👍🏻
Re e lockers being superior to air lockers, why do almost all Ultra 4 competitors run ARB air lockers?
I say you need to get TJ on the tools more always fun to watch him struggle haha
This is amazing and the tunes are bangin!
Thanks !
I think this is just called the "average" Aussie toyota.
Did you guys find a solution to using harrop lockers with a 70 series GXL?
What wheels are they? I shouldn't be this aroused
Good to see tj on the tools 😂.

Easy to do on the car, just undo the steel sandwich plates and grease, before they wear out!
Good ep boys, I really liked watching mac pack those wheel bearings to be honest. Man is good with his hands.
Haven’t seen big jamin for a while guys haha
