i went from a 2:02 to a 1:59 within 3 attempts after watching this video. phenomenal stuff thank you so much for making this (also this is danalaman, former electrodrome and current hyrule circuit skill issue on the wrong account lmao)
For those of us just trying to beat the staff ghost: Use the recc'd build, take the shortcut, and you'll be fine against Luigi so long as you don't crash into anything.
Did 1:59.735 without the glider strat nor getting any UMT on the whole track (and MTs instead of your SMTs most of the time). I just used a heavier combo with leaf tires (wario + wiggler). I'm not too good at soft drifting, but you could probably do much better if you pulled that out with this setup imo. (I'm aware the WR uses roller wheels, i feel faster with the leaves though)
I’m still trying to beat the 2:14 ghost at 150cc and am in no way a super runner with mad strat skilz (yet!), but I do sometimes try the graveyard mushie shortcut-unfortunately, I usually bonk into a tree or one of the walkway signs. I noticed at the end of this Twisted Mansion vid, there’s a brief moment where Waluigi begins that shortcut, but it’s neither completed nor addressed. Is there video demonstrating a recommended mushie path for that, should one wish to try it? Thanks for your instructive videos!
Yeah I didn't address it mostly cause it's a lot slower than using mushrooms to go through the library at the start of the lap. I don't have anything specifically addressing a good path, but as long as you go to the right of the second tree and aim for the gap in the signs you should be able to get through the shortcut before your mushroom runs out
i want to thank you for helping me improve so much, but i don't get what i doing wrong i follow your lines as close as i can, use your recommended builds and for some reason i cant seem to be faster just on this track my goal was to hit at least a 2:01 my current fastest time is 2:03:338 (my fastest time original was 2:06 so improvement have to thank you on that part) but CRAP I'm more so mad at myself for not being faster either way looking forward to the new guide(s) keep up the great work, lets see what track is next *sees Shy Guy Falls* AH S*** HERE WE GO AGAIN
Hi! While vectoring do I have to repress R or hold it all the way? I mean if you dont want low glider and turbo goes off automatically, when do you release R? Thanks.
You can release it after your mini turbo gets automatically released. If you’re not going for low glider than you don’t need to press it again until you’re getting ready to land (just so that you can start a drift as soon as you land)
Hey Bayesic, nice video! I'm a happy watcher from Germany and improved alot by watching this channel alone. ^^ I was wondering if you could help me with mastering the soft drift, because no matter in which way I try it, I can't pull it off.. I know how the technique works with the angle of the joystick being a clock-two (or 10 for left drifts), right on the edge of the fast charging area. But if I try it it either stops the fast charging or I am bonking right into the wall or muck.. I am not even sure if I did the soft drift correctly even once. So long story short, I suck at soft drifting but want to improve at the game, so I won't give up. If you could help me with this topic that would be great. I also watched your "everything you need to know about drifting video", which introduced me to the technique. For example, how do I notice if I am doing it right and it isn't just the normal drift angle How can I pull it off consistently / how can I practice it? (the sweet sweet canyon spot didn't quite work for me). And how to use it online and in time trials properly? If you could help me out by answering or making another video on this topic, that would be awesome. Thank you and keep up the good work. :)
This might not be useful but if you use a 3rd party controller with notches like the GCN controller it’s much easier to soft drift, you just put the stick into one of the notches
Yeah honestly it's kind of tough to explain, and unfortunately at some point, you kind of just have to get a feel for it. I don't have much advice beyond trying to just find spots where a soft drift is optimal, and just practicing taking those turns over and over again until you don't need to move your joystick at all Mario Circuit 200cc is another good spot to practice on, since basically every turn on that course can be entirely soft drifted while hanging out on the red / white barrier. And honestly regarding the question of "For example, how do I notice if I am doing it right and it isn't just the normal drift angle How can I pull it off consistently," I wouldn't think about it in this way. Like I mentioned in the "everything you need to know about drifting video", the goal is not to think about it in terms of "am I holding the joystick at the proper angle," but more along the lines of "Am I able to take this turn without wiggling the joystick back and forth." If you're doing that, and building up mini turbos quickly, then you're most likely on the right track. Hope that helps
if there is a course im going to TT it will either be this or Phiranha plant pipeway, This track seems alot easier on inside drift than ALL this PAIN!!! though I dont know if the vectoring is possible to save time on inside.
2:09 LOL THATS THE BUILD I USE ANYWAYS SINCE ITS MY FAVORITE I LOVE KING BOO BUT NICE I GOT MY PB WITH A GOOD ONE IM GAMING UNINTENTIONALLY (i do it on 200cc though)
It’s really dumb and I’ve since stopped messing with it lol. The amount of time it saves relative to how precise the timing is just makes it not worth it. Now I just do a single right hop into left drift
You could use Roy or DK too, they all have the same stats. If you want to know why those three characters, it’s basically cause they’re the “best”. To explain why is kinda complicated and I’m actually working on a video about that, but long story short it’s cause they optimally balance speed and mini turbos

You're the best MK channel on YT, great stuff
Really appreciate this series. Thanks!
Glad to hear it!

Had a 2:00.249 but switched to baby strats and got a 1:58.513. Hoping to get a 1:57, which is possible with my best splits.

I have a question on a different track. Why is the world record to moo moo meadows done with the sneaker and slim wheels?
Highest ground speed

8:40 what do you mean by holding down?2 o'clock or 4 o'clock?
It’s down + right, kind of like the direction of a 4 on a clock face
