Hi phil, you did very good job on this one! i would like to have an idea about how much money to ask for such awork you did in this terrass. thank you in advance.
Everyone has their own pricing structure. You charge whatever is a fair price for the work your doing. It all depends on your competitors pricing, how good your work is and generally what you feel you need to earn from it. Charge too little and you won't make much money, charge too much and you either won't get the job or won't get asked back in the future. You really need to find out hoe many competitors are in your area.
Hi Phil, Been quoted £4500 by qWashers for cold water set-up or £7000 for hot water professionally installed in van. Would the hot water come in useful for cleaning walls and for paving with poor mortar were too much pressure would cause damage? Cheers
Hot is only really needed of you need to sanitise stuff like barns etc. I've never felt the need to have a boiler as it just increases maintenance and running costs. If you wanna spend 7k on boiler system then that's fine but remember it needs kerosene or diesel to run and will take up most of the space in a van. You just wind the pressure down if you have bad mortar.
@@DirtyDriveAway Thanks for the advice Phil. How would you go about cleaning a filthy brick wall using low pressure? Would you rely on plenty of chemicals? Also is it true that a surface cleaner with hot water can cut through any grime without leaving swirls, but a surface cleaner with cold water will sometimes struggle when the paving is really filthy? Some people on the forum's use the comparison of how much better hot water is when washing the dishes compared to cold water, and think the same applies to pressure washing.
@@chrisa4882 just a bit of chem if needed and some low pressure. Hot water does have a place and yes can be beneficial. People who use hot water swear by it and won't ever go back. If your budget allows and you have the need for it then fine, but cold water for everyday cleaning is more than sufficient. Remember driveways and stones aren't greasy so hot water just means you can use lower pressure, but won't really mean a better clean. Residential stuff rarely requires hot water and chemical will usually always give the best result. Hot water is more costly to run and maintain and obviously setup in the 1st place. If you think you will need hot then go for it however cold will be just as good if your only doing residential. The space a hot water system takes up is quite a lot. Damian knows his stuff and his van builds are too notch. Go with your gut and budget, dont go for hot if your going to struggle financially. Bear in mind as the running costs are higher so will your pricing which may cut you out on some jobs. There's a line between using the hot to help pay for it or just keeping the customers price fair and using cold. Either way the extra outlay of a hot water system will need to be recompensed somewhere.
@@DirtyDriveAway Thanks very much for taking the time to reply. I will now definitely give it some serious thought as 7k is a big outlay on top of a Euro6 compliant van which will be about another 14k . Which van would you opt for out of those two on something like an 18 plate?
@@chrisa4882 I started with a LWB connect, nice van but a tad small if you was thinking boiler. Would be fine for a cold water setup. If your thinking boiler then a connect or berlingo will leave very little room inside, ideally then you'd want a vivaro or bigger. Even with my trafic it wouldn't leave me much room inside if I fitted a boiler.

I don't really want a transit size van as it will also be my everyday transport. Damien said he can work with medium sized vans like the LWB Connect and Berlingo.
Hi Phil, i like your rinse down sprayer what sort of components would i need to make 1 similar. save using the lance all the time. Cheers
I can make them and supply them. It's mainly a stainless 65degree nozzle with whatever connection you need to fit your hose.
Hi Phil, Is a 350L tank big enough for the back of the van? Thanks
Yeah should be, I run 400L bit 300-400l should work OK.
Hi Phil, You recommended a company called Q Washers but I've been phoning them now for around 2 month's without any success. The lady just keeps saying she'll get Damien to give me a call but he never does. I'm looking to get a van mounted set-up, and this company would have been ideal as it's within a reasonable drive from where I'm based. Also, more often than not nobody answers the phone which would be a concern with regards to repairs and advice etc..
Do you know of any other companies around the North West who could supply and fit me a van mounted set-up?
Cheers
I know they had issues as damian went In for an op on his knee so he's been out for a while. His van setups are top notch and I wouldn't recommend anybody else. Keep trying I promise you its worth it.
@@DirtyDriveAway Thanks Phil. Have you a rough idea what price a full van mounted set-up would be including all accessories/attachments and top quality surface cleaner?
@@chrisa4882 how longs a piece of string lol. All depends what you want to spend. If your looking at cold water with something like a GX390 200bar at 21lpm I would say with water tank and all the bits and bobs maybe £3000. If you want it professionally built into a van then maybe add another £500+, really depends how far you want to go. If you thinking of going hot water then you could probably add on another £1000+. Bigger washer will add on another £1000-£1500+. Ultimately it depends on your budget as to what's the best option.
