Thank you for the test. Well... I do like the electric sound of my Macan 4! 22 inches wheels are less comfortable and more noisy... I had the chance to drive an ICE Macan (the base 2L turbo). It is like day and night. From all the aspects.
I think part of the Taycan depreciation problem is RHD in the UK. They were leased left and right, and when the leases are up nobody wants a car that's still relatively expensive, but out of warranty (or soon to be) with unproven tech.
@@MarekDrivesENG and the Tycan Turbo 2 is also out now so that drives depreciation of the first generation even further. mind you, if you want a bargain sports car. this is the one to go for
If you're of a similar vintage to myself you might recall that computers once had a turbo button - both the Macan and the Taycan Turbo remind me of those days :) I'm pretty sure that this will sell despite it now being an EV, given the Porsche badge and it being a SUV. It'll probably be perfect for someone that already has a 911 GT3 in the garage. I like that they're now introducing rear steer at the 'bottom' end of the Porsche range as well.
New owner of the Macan 4. We have started seeing bugs after 2500kms, we got a warning about the batterie system. (The same that led to a massive recall of Tycans due to fire hazard ) The Porsche call center wasnt very helpfull A couple of bugs in the systems with more warnings that disappeared after restart. Yes there is Windsound but road noise isnt so bad(would have preferred to have less considering the double isolated windows which costs more) Ride is good, we owned a Q6 before this. A little disappointed with the milage.
Great and insightful test. I’ve noticed quite noticeable noise level coming from the wheels when driving this car even compared to cars on the Volkswagen MEB platform. However the Macan 4’s I drove unfortunately were not equipped with the optional sound insulation glass. I understand your test car was? Please confirm. Thx in advance!
16:52 My car was so cheap that it did not include a psss psss cleaning device. It seems like on the Porsche you get one in the trunk. I'm starting to like this car.
Nothing about this gives me a porsche feeling. It's like sticking m sport on a regular bmw or an amg badge on a regular merc. If you want an EV, there are many better options.
Strange review tbh. You mock the sport sound multiple times - why talk so much about a feature that is completely optional. Felt a bit like you want to hate for the sake of hating
I think that Porsche dropped the ball with the styling of the model compared to the previous generation Macan. There is something strange about both the front and especially the rear. The new electric Macan is also objectively too expensive for what it delivers. Subjectively, however, the car can certainly be worth the money. Porsche's image is unmatched and the quality seems to be very good.
@@MarekDrivesENG I think that's the real issue with ALL eclectic cars. They all just feel the same to drive but with a different badge. Previously all car manufacturers had their own engines with their own characteristics. An electric motor is an electric motor, whether its in a Porsche or a BYD. So why would you spend a fortune on this when you can buy a BYD for loads less? Its a lot of money for a badge. I bet if you sat in the back of the Macan EV with your eyes closed there is no way you'd tell you were in a Porsche.
I haven't driven the Q6, but I assume Porsche retains some of the brand's ride and handling characteristics. If the main objective is getting from A to B, and an electric powertrain is the preferred option, then yes, a BYD will do just as good a job, as a Porsche or an Audi. However - as much as I don't like the person behind it - if I really wanted an EV, I'd probably get a Tesla Model Y, and call it a day.
@@MarekDrivesENGi’m the same. The Model 3 is a perfectly “acceptable’ car, but I couldn’t bring myself to line Elon’s pockets. That said, a BYD is probably better bolted together.
Its probably a good car But you need to pay extra for many things. Like heated seats, viper on the rear window, badge, its go on and on. Nothing included compare to many other brands.
I hope they've fixed the awful transfer box issues and the leaky sunroof. I had two Macans that had these issues. I'll be unlikely to have another one.
Jealous ! Macan EV won't join press fleet here till next year so have to rely on dealers to provide test cars ..its priced a full 500e above its gas version here though!
I guess they need the production capacity for Europe, where they have to prove they're cutting emissions, so they'll do everything to push those ICE variants everywhere else.
How much does Porsche charge for the potato peeler option? Love the look of this but the price... my god it's expensive. Starts at 101k CAD with the petrol Macan S at 86k CAD. X3 M50 78k.
great to see a more realistic review that isn't just fawning
I try
An excellent, highly informative, interesting video. Well done!😊
Thank you!

I bet this will depreciate as bad as a Tycan Turbo S

I think I'd stick to petrol 911 or at least Cayman/Boxster.
yaaaawn
First comment on any Macan EV video is "depreciation".
Piss off, all of you, no one cares.

Yes, I had to turn turbo off on my 386 SX to play Test Drive :)

If you want a good quality electric car, Premium Chinese brands have good products
Refinement seems to be a question mark on this new platform, other reviews of the Audi Q6 E-tron mention similar NVH issues.

Cool video

It's for demo purposes only. Part of my car cleaning kit :)
Also, when I ask my partner to hand me that product, I ask for psik psik 🤣

No rear wiper. No sale. And my wife is looking to upgrade her aging Macan (which has been great).
It’s an option but you can’t acoustic glass and the wiper
You know when you get an expensive VAG group car when you get a gas struts on the front trunk :D
That's a car I could put up with. Now to rob a bank!
Just make sure this is not your getaway car, because even the fastest chargers may slow you down considerably :)
Great, finally an honest unbiased review👍
While the 22” wheels look great, they make the ride worse and usually tend to emit more noise into the cabin. Not to mention affecting range!
The only time you could convince me to buy an electric Porsche is if it was a hybrid. This is a great looking car but such a shame at the same time.
Strange review tbh. You mock the sport sound multiple times - why talk so much about a feature that is completely optional. Felt a bit like you want to hate for the sake of hating
Those wheels look ridiculous. Need to be at least 3" smaller

First and foremost it's pretty much an Audi Q6 e-tron Sportback, which is not a looker. The Macan is just a more expensive Q6 here, unfortunately.

Fantastic, another soulless EV. There are new models at my local dealer priced above $90K USD. These are going to sell like hotcakes.
Is this only upgraded Q4 etron?
Q6 e-tron sportback, to be precise.
What colour is that?
Copper Ruby Metallic (I7)

yeah, i think the sound should be included for free. and able to be disabled
It can be disabled, and it’s “free” on the top end model 😂
Very late to the party. VAG is in deep doodoo
A nope from me. Nothing special.
Price is special 😂
Looks good. Price too high.

Customer in Porsche showroom: How much is this option?
Porsche salesperson: Yes.

I like the colour but unless you really want a Porsche, I think there’s better cars just as stylish and more refined for less money.
As someone commented here, it's everyday driver for someone, who already has a 911 GT3 in their garage.
No. Just No. I'll keep my Macan GTS thanks.
you have lost weight, did you?
Yes.
Porsche is done. This won't sell.
😂😂😂
This thing is horrid looks like a frog
Because the 911 looks like a swan?
