    Thanks for another amazing video, Lee!! I started flying JR radios 30+ years ago and was a Team JR guy up until we made the switch over to Spektrum and have flown those radios for many years as a Team HH guy. I've been playing with ELRS and the AMAZING TX16S MKII Max for a few weeks now and your channel KEEPS coming up in my quest for information!! Thanks so much for all you do and the knowledge you have imparted into my pea brain!! 😂😅

    Wow! Tha is Lee. I mainly have slope soarer with ELRS and never added Ch5 on the mixers. I don't need arm, so I have set ch5 to MAX. Thanks for the tip!

      If you are not flying too far away from yourself then you've probably not bumped into the lower power setting range issues. CH5 high will ensure that it is all of the features are 'active'. It is used to enable safeguards and performance settings in the software and hardware. See www.expresslrs.org/software/switch-config/

    I had no idea all of this went into the PWM receiver setup. On my model, I used a serial receiver with iNav, and it set up like everything else did. Will definitely come back when I do a smaller, cheaper plane.

      Yep, with INAV you use the same stuff as ExpressLRS was designed to do with Betaflight - four main control channels, a arming switch and a few other channels for modes and settings.. Happy flying!

    I used the radiomaster 4ch micro elrs rx on my jta slick 3d plane with some really fast servos and holy crap can you feel the lower latency. Never had such a responsive plane. It was really wasy to bind as well. Looking forward to using elrs more on my fixed wings.

    Ha , I haven't played much in the shop lately, I think losing flying space, upset me, what am i to do without a place to crash. Why build . Tinker with new technologies... you have found my weakness. A motivation I built planes for many of my grandkids ...none want to fly, shame many of those planes are flyable add one of several transmitters and a battery . No they live with their nose stuck in a phone or tablet ... even bought flight Sim for their game console... if their not going to use it send it back, have input on 75 inch screen for game, something to do while awaiting a new season of ? I shall build a new gadget just to try out these new ELRS tricks winter use to be build time, spring maiden a whole summer to crash ...darn pandemic lock down building planes and watching ever season of Midsommer murders, grew fond of Barnaby, he got old and retired. Well time to go pumpkin pie and coffee awaits. Have a wonderful new year , my friend .

    WHAT IS WRONG with various receivers that when they go into blinking WiFi mode my laptop will either not see the WiFi signal or see it and vanish once you have tried to connect or it allows you to connect and then only goes to the Edge browser and a microsoft page not the ELRS Page. Thanks for all your efforts there really helpful.

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  8 месяцев назад

      I've never seen that on any of the current generation of ELRS receivers. I'd try another device to connect to the Rx or try it away from all of the other WiFi devices in your house/office. Best of luck!

    People on reddit rcplanes always seem to hate on ELRS for some reason. Is the main drawback related to flight controller compatability? I dove into the hobby 6 months ago and have elrs on my two planes and i'm just not educated on the drawbacks. But it seems like a very modern, inexpensive, and capable platform otherwise.

    • @Painless360

      Issues with CH5 being only two position and all the other things covered in the video. ExpressLRS was designed for Betaflight quads and is evolving into a more rounded system... Happy flying

    Since they are open to alternating the packets, I do hope in the future they start adding some basic telemetry information to the packets at a lower rate (lat/lon/speed/alt etc, enough to fly home).
    I was disappointed when I realised the many switches on the TX16S could not be used with ELRS due to the limited channels. Based on your video the other day with 6 flight modes, and the 6 lit buttons on the TX16S, I assume similar mapping can be used to make those 6 buttons ardupilot flight modes? Not sure if I would prefer it to SA/SB but certainly easier to visualise.

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  8 месяцев назад

      Not sure what you mean by limited channels as you can have up to 16 easily in the model... Happy flying!

    • @sparkequinox
      @sparkequinox 8 месяцев назад

      @@Painless360 Hmm, I think whatever mode I had was limited to 12 + RSS + LQ, so maybe I missed a 16+2 config. 12 was not enough for my larger ranger with camera switching/flaps etc. I wanted to add head tracking so those extra 4 would help a bunch. I will have a look, thank you.

    • @sparkequinox
      @sparkequinox 8 месяцев назад +2

      After reading the spec again and checking my config I was on wide. I assume if I switch to "Full res 16 ch rate/2", then I would expect all channels to be usable its just the packets sent are alternated. I take it aux1/channel5 is encoded into each packet for armed too.
      Edit: I see why I was confused previously, I needed to change the rate first to either 100/333hz to gain access to the other modes.

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  7 месяцев назад

      For me, the safest and strongest connection is still TBS Crossfire. All 2.4 radios have similar performance due to the propagation and power levels... Happy flying

    I wanted to get into the hobby, and I thought id start off with an elrs radio, cause it sort of seems like the most modern thing.

    Can anyone tell me why SBUS does not work for the ZoHD Kopikot for the radio master er8gv however CRSF does when configuring the receiver via the WebUI?
    With sbus AETR works but not the mode switch, however on CRSF everything works as it was intended to. Is there an explanation for that?

    Hello Lee, I fly ELRS long range and sometimes my telemetry just cuts out or certain data isnt transmitted correctly by my receiver. Is there any way to get better telemetry at a higher wattage? I think with the new ELRS 900mhz system from Radiomaster you can use the actual transmitter module to transmit telemetry back. Does something like that exist for 2.4ghz ELRS? Thanks.

      No, Crossfire is far superior for telemetry and PWM systems at the moment. Long range, robust telemetry, and full speed channels. ELRS is catching up as it moves away from the Betaflight-Quad only style of signals and control...
