@@vaibhavjoshi9141 It's called ''coming from a solid jazz basis''. Then the limit is the sky and you're no longer a ''shredder'' but a master class guitarplayer.
I remember first hearing Frank with Chick Corea Elektric Band. I was flabbergasted. Then I went out and picked up "Thunder from Down Under". Instantly converted. Made so many of those heavy metal monsters look ridiculous with his vocabulary, technique and over-all musicianship. Not to mention he's a very passionate and modest cat. Put his time in; reaped the rewards. You go, Frank!
What the fuk? That's one of the best jazz /rock songs. And I've listened to everyone. That's a hidden gem. Thanx to God there's RUclips. So nothing is lost anymore.

Love seeing all these reviews from folks who "get it" when it comes to the virtuoso master that is Frank Gambale. He has never ceased to AMAZE me with everything that he does, all aspects of his playing: Phrasing, tone, tension and release, building solos, and all with such passion and fire! Also, trying to find a mistake or even a moment of sloppiness is harder than finding a needle in a haystack. Oh yeah, as someone else mentioned, I have met him and spoken with him a number of times and his classiness matches his playing, a real humble gentleman.
I have to agree. I've enjoyed his virtuosity over the years and from what I've witnessed, he's always been a gracious and grateful cat. How anyone who enjoys music finds fault with him is beyond me.
He's a real Down-to-Earth guy, too. I met him when he was playing with Chic Corea's Electric Band. Actually took the time to chat with me for a few minutes between sets.
What a great band, I really love your sense of energy build up during your solos Frank, young guys should listen more to this kind of music ...I think you must be the best fusion player I've heard, few guitarists can play so good live!
Frank is one of my all time favorites from the Great Shred era of the late 80's. No wonder he was Chick Corea's favorites... mine too! Jaw dropping licks from 4:03 on.
Groovy.. incredible dynamics & live-play interaction. Frank, hands down-you're an extremely rare gem to the guitar community (and music world, at large).. like virtuoso guitar's "best kept secret." I'm glad to see you engaging more on RUclips & Internet platforms. Hopefully it will get your name back into the mainstream again, where it should be, sir!
It was absolutely amazing. His guitar style is astonishing. I was there with good friend of mine Peter ( do you remember? ). We were only few yards from him (as close as possible) but I had no chance to understood his sweep guitar style :-) Today it's obvious to me why - always when I perform some song of him :-) One of my favourite guitar players. Thanks for this video!! And thanks for this music!!!!
Man, do I love watching FG when he gets his "sweep" on ! I remember having an Ibanez 540-S back in the day, but the jack went faulty... Then the FGM100 came out and I got that, only to suffer the same problem ! In 2009, I switched to Carvin guitars, which are phenominal and was delighted to see FG become a Carvin endorser. Keep on sweeping, Frank ! Dan.
Frank you are the Yngwie of jazz fusion or should I say Yngwie is the Frank of classical metal, lol. Love that yellow Ibanez too!! Your abilities on the axe are legendary.
What do you mean, "still"? He's in his late fifties. That is precisely the time to put people to shame -- he's strong both intellectually and physically, its peak years for a performing musician.
Damn you F. Gambale! Because of your vhs from 1989 the one with the yellow ibanez someone called me arpeggio man. Now everyting i play sounds arpeggiated ..i sweep my dog,my guitar the remote control. Everything. It all began with "and how about another variation..?" XD.
Props to the guy on keys. He adds more color to the color.

The melodic taste and cleanness of those sweeps are only found on Frank's galaxy....a million light years from earth.

I've never heard such cliche-free shredding. Also, Frank Gambale's dynamic range is amazing.
I like the term 'cliche-free' shredding; most guys out there are so banal.
I'd say it's all VITAL INFORMATION!
To me Frank and Alan Holdsworth sounded more like a horn player then any guitar players

diff tuning too
Not just a great shredder and sweeper - his gaps were lush. Fab phrasing.

Just noticed that's Steve Smith from Journey on the drums. Awesome band! Great arpeggios Frank!
Impressive phrasing and cleaning incredible
My favorite tone of Frank’s. Wish he still had it.

Not gonna lie, this stuff is way over my head. I just think, I have no idea what I'm hearing but it is glorious...
Totally agreed sir!!
Frank is a monster...still in wow mode on this clip...Good Lord what a savage he is

Fantastic song, Alfa Romeo logo is fantastic on his guitar!
Gambles got the keys to the Ferrari!

Love this Guitarist with all of my heart ;-)

Cool he is awesome.
He has a sincerity to his soulfulness, too, not just trying to play with soul, in addition to his tasteful shredding! Wow, what a treat!
I m definitively one of your biggest fan !
What a line up. These are the guys you young musicians should learn from. This Band sounded this good in 1992!!!!
Thanks boys for your musician ship.
Amazing! Everything he plays is so clean!
Quite a master!
🎶🎶👏👏👏👏
wow........pretty amazing. I could watch Frank play for hours
Gambale is a freak of nature. Amazing playing all around. And of course one of my drumming idols, Mr. Smith, killing it as always.
I love Frank's guitar playing.
He's puts everything together so intelligently and knows when to open up and when to be laid back!
True Genius!
kickass drummer! \m/
Theres a drummer? Sorry haven't noticed him

2:44 is where Frank kicks in the after burner and begins to melt faces. Frank is a legend and a nice fellow too.
Talk about some sweep picking shredness!!!!
Guitar God !
Frank, your contribution to guitar and music is astounding. Never get tired of hearing you. Thank you for sharing your gifts!
Simply the best ,man !
This is the most 90's song I've ever heard
Yet one of the best ever
Sounds more late 80's, the decade that taste forgot.
I need to go to the mall and buy some new balance shoes now.
I'm not sure, but I think it goes back further than that.
Frank is one of my all time favorites from the Great Shred era of the late 80's. No wonder he was Chick Corea's favorites... mine too! Jaw dropping licks from 4:03 on.
Probably the most advanced player who ever lived, alongside Holdsworth
And now to pick my jaw up from the floor...
Lol
That tone, that groove, that music!

Utterly brilliant solo and band!
This is why I have 1990's fusion CD's bouncing around in my truck.

At 4:13 I almost shit my pants. How incredible is this dude? Unbelievable.
No one builds up a solo like frank man!👌🔥🔥

Frank you are the Yngwie of jazz fusion or should I say Yngwie is the Frank of classical metal, lol. Love that yellow Ibanez too!! Your abilities on the axe are legendary.
frank much cleaner than yngwie and clearer tone. i think malmsteen even in prime was no where close
I love yngwie....but frank is another level...not only in playing guitar but also in the knowledge of music in General and theory.
Love that drummer,
Those 16th-triplet gospel drum fills give me life! And Tom Coster goes to town with his M1, I love his sound!
Fantástico músicos extraordinário Mr Frank Gambale e o maior de todos os guitarreiros
Thanks so much for sharing hope you are well God loves you deeply Shalom 🎸 🔊🏞️⛰️🏔️🎇🎆🎊🎉✨🐕🎈
This is the time when he played with his famous yellow guitar.
I've played with one of these for a short period of time,It was great!
C’est magnifique! 😍
with that Ibanez,he had his best sound ever !
Never the same when he dropped the Yamaha...
That was really awesome..
great!!!
That was pretty freaking awesome !!!!
He still puts shredders of today to shame
John Petrucci and Guthrie Govan included!
What do you mean, "still"? He's in his late fifties. That is precisely the time to put people to shame -- he's strong both intellectually and physically, its peak years for a performing musician.
And his haircut do the exact same thing for him ! 😁
Im SO ashamed
@@snuppssynthchannel ok... petrucci is from another planet, gambale its fusion how can you claim that? i like both of them its another genre
Unbelievable guitarist.
Show, grande guitarrista!!!
No wonder satriani didnt hire him for g3 yet, they will burst into tears!
Billbill80s Lol right! They’re not on his level. A G3 with Frank, Greg Howe , and Guthrie Govan would make more sense.
Cada um com suas virtudes.

Gambale is king!!!
That was so good!
WONDERFUL FRANK GAMBALE

what a player ! wow
I guess you could call that a CLEAN SWEEP. no? Okay.
Complex and interesting...thanks!
I've been working with frank for years- it looks like it paid off---- do the kick, do the kick I told him---
nice
Cacau SantosTV você por aqui... Hahahaha
Wowzers!!!
4:42-4:47 listen to that fantastic whammy bar phrasing
Visceral !!!!!!!! 💥💥💥
Was that my imagination or was the drummer getting some blast beats going toward the end?
Playing interesting lines separates the men from the boys, no matter what technique you use. Frank Gambale, great player.
The way he plays with accents is so controlled
Just awesome!!!!
I have a present for the future, great album. I believe that Alex masi steered me towards him
Good Lord that is outstanding
I wish there were more straight on shots of the fretboard
Easier Said than Done... The best album of VI to me...
Almost every time the drums hook, and the crazy fills happen, the camera pans over to the guitar :)
What a band! Gambale is a monster whos the drummer the key player im gettin their cd NOW!!
Frank Rules!!!
