And you will never found one guy using distortion and making such tasty phrases and with a so clear sound like this.
Matteo Mancuso is good, huge technique and clear sound, but listening to his phrases choices... well... hum... He has a loooooooooong way to reach Gambale's level.
How is it, as a 53 year old Aussie that loves anything guitar, that I've never heard of this man??
I know jazz and it's variants aren't main stream but I feel Australian radio and Television have let the public down.

I appreciate very much FG because he is a musician not just a guitar player. He's a complete artist non just a player, because he's a very much talented composer with his own strong composing style (listen the oldest 80s album) and also incredible improviser.

I spoke to Chick's engineer when the Elektrik Band played Lincoln Center outdoors 10-15 years ago and Frank's solo was the absolute highlight.
I am guessing a great recording of that concert exists and hope that it becomes available.

@@FrankGambaleTV The first time I heard his solo on Time Track with CCEB live back in 1986 on NZ jazz radio station, just blew me away...wow! If you just hear the technique then you're missing the point of how he creates content in his solos....and I wanted to play like that....with freedom to create and not struggle to play ideas instantly. George Benson has that gift.

I love Frank! I always get something that when I grab my axe, my mind becomes infinitely bent as I attempt to push through into the uncharted seas just beyond my habits of muscle memory. Holdsworth does the same to me melon (as oddly enough does Joe Perry). Thanks Frank! Even at my advanced age on this planet, I always benefit from such--albeit rare--kicks to the stasis of my projected mental forms.

You can hear quite well at the end the hollow tone that the guitar is creating. People who poopoo the idea that body woods can alter the tone of the guitar will never get it. Why does it sound hollow? Because... wait for it... it IS HOLLOW. Structures make a difference. If that body was all filled in with wood, it wouldn't sound the same. I personally love the sound of hollow and semi-hollow guitars with distortion. Ted Nugent... Brian May... lots of tones were so twangy and hollow because they were literally a hollow or semi-hollow body. To me, it gives them a kind of older 50s feel. more organic and prone to feedback which I think is great. Frank Gambale. Trailblazer and no one sweeps better than Frank! Not even the janitor! hehe
Frank is the reason I bought my first hollow body years ago.

I've listened to you on and off since the 80'ies... First heard you with Chick (Got a match) and was blown away by your technique at that time, but now, as you've become an "adult" guitar player, I'm even more blown away by your musicality and not the technique! I thought I subd, if not I will now. Can't tell you how many times I jammed Natives are Restless on that Frank Gambale Live release.. At least in that one I got to rehearse the solo twice before playing with Frank as his solo is last.

Al glad you kept listening. It's staggering statistically that only 15% of viewers watch to the end and 2/3 drop off after 1 minute. People have short attention spans these days so applause to you for having the patience to wait and stay listening to the end.
