I always wanted to be a singer, Carly Simon and Carol King were my mentors. The way that my life was.....it just never happened. Seventy years.....I can still sing.
But I love those two women because of what they gave me.
the singer songwriter women in the 70's paved the path. Karla Bonhoff too. This song by Carly and the so you say we're gonna move in together, marry and raise a whole fam-i-lie - well that's the way I always heard it should be. Love her.
It's hard for me to pick a favorite song from Carly Simon's collection. But this one is right up there. It gets me every time 😪
Thanks Carly 💝
'well you walked into the party, like you were walking onto a yacht...." her biggest hit and brilliant song, and all the carly fans love the ones that came afterwards even more.
how authentic is Carly? this song is fantastic, and seeing her sing it like this acoustically is such a treat. thank you for posting!
You should see her on SNL playing your so vain in the 70's
This is one of my al time Carly favorites!!! And her voice is so smooth and sublime like an incredibly expensive and tenderly cared for bourban.
Sublime. Memories.......just hit's the spot somtimes. Gorgeous.
Carly Simon....That voice! Storyteller extroaordinaire.....and the MockingBird once again, heh,heh.....Thanks for sharing!!!!!
To me Carly is like the colors in a kaleidoscope surrounding it's insides, opposing the ocean and altering the tides!!!
I Know That You're So Vain gets most of the glory, but this is straight up my favorite Carly Simon song. On the original studio version, the fade out haunts me to my core.
I hear you, Andrew. The album version is still one of my all-time favorite Carly tracks.... 'haunting' is a great way to describe the fade out....
Beautiful high and low notes 💗
Such a wonderful singer and musician, and although I have never spoken to her I consider her a friend because I listen to her sing whenever I am feeling down. Fun fact- I had never heard Vengeance until 2021. Don’t know how I missed it!
I love this!!! And the backup singers!!! 🤗✨💕
Nothing short of excellent!
So Beautiful is this song , and Carly of Course.....

That's exactly how I feel. It would be a dream come true.
Pure talent.. Nothing to mask the incredible gift Carly has. Simple and real. Take note, garbage artists of today...
Allyson Russell no shit..
Worked with Carly briefly for Arista back in 1989. Those were the days! Who is guy playing the beautiful Taylor 814ce??
I dying to find an instrumental version and trying to do a vocal cover of this masterpiece

@@MrDiddyDee Ok, will take a look.
In this song She's referring to her time the story and the life of Cat Stevens believe it or not. !
Actually I don't believe it. lol I'm listening to her read Boys in the Trees right now. Now Anticipation was definitely written about waiting on Cat Stevens to arrive for a date, but I'm pretty sure she mentions she wrote this about James Taylor long before she actually ever met him based on seeing his Time magazine cover, to which she exclaimed to a friend, "I'm going to marry that guy."
It is about Cat Stevens
thought it was about james. his dad was a doctor. she knew james as a young guy in martha's vineyard even tho they didnt officially meet til the troubadour
Carly!💕
I agree with the prior post, no synthesizers there. I would like to learn that song on guitar, does anyone know the chords that she is playing?
Who played guitar?
I have watched this video many times and I'm just seeing that there aren't vibrations from her guitar strings.
For Cat Stevens 💗
eek. heard this before but hadnt noticed sally's voice seems off. it takes the polish off of this performance. better w professional backup singers.
one of my favorite carly songs.
I love Carly Simon, and I really love this song, but I’m hearing a lot of flat notes from everyone! 😬
