.... was no one else struck by a urge for strawberry cheesecake from looking at the thumbnail or just me?
P.S. or strawberry shortcake lol 😋
I thought that was cheesecake lol 😆 😂
100%
Yep salmon is more coral colored but cheesecake is the bomb
Personally, I just see that Mark tried a new thing, that I'll try too!
😂
Now you have to make vegan strawberry cheesecake because you made us all hungry for it
Got me fooled thinking this was a dessert in the thumbnail, dammit Mark!!
hahahaha it does have that kinda look to it hahah
Same here. I thought it was a raspberry cheesecake covered in ice-cream
I thought it was cheesecake too, I immediately thought well that’s odd I normally don’t see him make desserts.
I like the seasoning/ dehydrating hack with the paper towels ALSO love the beet pun - two thumbs up
hahahaha thank you!!!! Im trying to find better ways to work in that subscribe CTA hahaha
Merleeee please make this recipeeeee
If you can find them try using an orange coloured beet and a red one, or even yellow & orange beet to get a peachier colour which would look more like salmon. I think that’s what I’m going to try, if I can find the different coloured beets.
I don’t buy red beets any longer; I got tired of the mess. I don’t know if I’m missing out on a few nutrients by avoiding the red color, but it’s worth it to me to not have stains everywhere. And I think golden beets have a sweeter flavor, but it might just be my imagination.
This is awesome I can't wait to cook that for myself and I always love when you bring Monica out to see what she has to say keep up the good work❤
This is super similar to the tofu salmon recipe i use, so i KNOW it's gotta taste delicious! I use beet juice (or beet powder if i have some) for the color, I've even used red food dye in a pinch, lol. I also add a bit of vegan mayo to the marinade, and i cook the tofu salmon with some dijon mustard and it is DIVINE!
Monica Monica Monica!!!
I trust your description and explanation…thank you!!!
I’m going to try it.
Well Done!
I need to try this! All ingredients seem easy enough to get. I love how you care about what your wife thinks about the dish too ❤
I think I’d want a recipe that does something with the leftover marinade, and then I’d give it a ten.
Try polish beet soup very Yumi it think the fishy taste would go great with it!
I put the leftover marinade in a squeeze bottle and use it as salad dressing, kinda like pink Ceasars dressing
That air fryer is an absolute UNIT. The salmon looked great also ☺️
This looks amazing! Going to try the recipe soon. Thank you for presenting it.
I've had success slicing rice paper to size, and inserting the slices between the tofu at a 45⁰ angle. I went a little easier on the beets, and added dulce crystals in addition to the nori to punch up the ocean flavor.
amazing!!!
Violife is one of my favorite vegan cheese brands. Although Miyokos makes exceptional cultured vegan cheeses they are expensive and only get them as a treat. But Violefe are in that intermediate price range (presumably because they aren't cultured) and their parmesan, feta and cream cheese are really good. Was never a fan of cheese slices, but their range is better than the competition....and, as a Greek company, I gather they do Halloumi, the cheese I miss most, but haven't been able to source it.
I can't wait to try it! YUMMERS!
This is exciting. The plate looks amazing. The last thing I ate that was not plant based, was salmon so I will be making this for sure. Also I used to love gefilte fish with beet horseradish so when Monica mentioned this it got the wheels turning. Perhaps you could figure out a gefilte fish recipe.
Thanks for the awesome tutorial!
Living Life Simply has a vegan Gefilte Fish recipe here on RUclips.
Spotted the Adam Ragusea knife
It's a great knife!!
Please consider a breadmaker seitan video. It is so simple but there seems to be only one recipe on the whole world wide web for it and it definitely could use an uplift for flavors!
Also maybe create the cheesecake that so many of us got hungry for by the thumbnail because we looked immediately at it instead of the words! 😂 and are now hungry for it. . .
I mean c'mon... who else is jealous Monica gets to eat all these amazing creations?? Lol
Love this channel Mark! You keep inspiring my cooking. Every. Single. Day. ❤
The flavoring idea for this sounds absolutely brilliant! I just wouldn't bother with the beetroot tbh as it is just a fantastic way to make tofu (which I like anyways). But the cuts are for sure essential as they allow the marinade to penetrate much deeper too! Also, the plating was truly spectacular - great job!
Thank you Margarett!!!!! This came out really good, if you try it, enjoy!!!
I gotta stop watching these videos before lunch. I’m starving now. This looks sooooo good!
Love you’re high happy energy man it elevates my day
I originally skipped the video because of the thumbnail alone. Glad to be fooled by sauce stache!
Ngl, looked like a cake with grated white chocolate and raspberry sauce to me at first. 😮
I would love to see comedian Mo Amer review your _hummus,_ he gets quite passionate.
🤣
Wow!!!🥳🥳🥳 How much do I love these videos!!
Brilliant video! Can’t wait to try it myself!
can you teach us to how to make vegan caviar please?
Nina and Michael Shandler have a recipe for making clam chowder from wheat gluten. Probably I guess resulting in something similar to Chai Pow Yu (mock abalone) that the Cantonese do. Do you think this could serve as a basis for other types of seafood? I'd really like to find a way to do vegan lobsters or crabs for example. Or would it be more reasonable to use a gluten chicken recipe instead??
What an amazing meal. Do you think the hummus suffers because of the lack of tahini, or it doesn’t really need it?
Wow!
I make hummus with either great northern beans or cannelini beans. It’s funny, I started because I didn’t know hummus was made with chickpeas. I just thought it was white beans. 😂
you just say "not hummus" like "not steak" since hummus is the arabic word for chickpeas
This looks amazing! I'll be tryinng this soon! Though I'm not a mayo fan, I'll make a sunflower seed cream cheese +fresh dill & chives to go with it
Truly brilliant.
So creative and inspiring.
Thank you so much 😀
here for "but let's see what Monica has to say"
this looks so good!!
Oo this looks good, I can't wait to try this after trying other vegan salmon recipies, they are similar but the mayo and the parm cheese looks like it will reaaally be good
Well now we need a cheesecake recipe 😂❤
Trying this - looks so good
*_"Let's see what Monica says?"_*
I wonder if carrot juice would color the tofu?
Oo good idea. Maybe he can dry carrots in that new air fryer, grind to powder as well.
Not sure about juice. But I may try a bit of a mix of dehydrated carrot & beet powders!
yum--i WILL try this!!
Would dried beet powder give it a darker color?
I feel like beet powder might give it a slightly lighter color, I was originally planning on using dried powder but last minute at the grocery store I changed my mind haha
Looks great!
Thanks for sharing this looks gd👍🏽
Do have a recipe for making vegan breakfast sausage
Anyone else tried that airfryer? It looks amazing and I need one 😅
It is awesome
I thought it was just me when I said that looks like a slice of cake. 🍰😂
I thought this was a Russian dish. It’s called herring under a fur coat when translated.
Not gonna lie, that’s a pretty impressive dish!
P.S. Hoping you’ll have a humorous video for the 1st
Mark I'd dearly love to find a way to make oyster stew and clam cbowder, i thought pissible enoki musbrooms for clams?
try anatto for color next time
Can you try to recreate Gordon Ramsay spicy vegan dish it’s bang bang cauliflower please and give your opinion😭
I made tofu salmon this week already. I wonder how much difference the mayo makes
Could you post the recipe somewhere?!
Say, was that a Ragusea knife?
Yup!! its a great knife!!
Was there any beet flavor in the final dish? This looks fantastic, but I hesitate to try it since beets taste like dirt to me.
It looked like a piece of strawberry cheesecake to me lol
That’s what the first air fryers used look
Never though tofu taste like salmon
It doesn't, which is why I made a flavored marinade and let it rest overnight...
I don’t know; it might be a case of looks over taste here. I just don’t think I’d like those flavors combined together, nor would I like that texture. But I have not tried it, so I could be wrong. I’ve cooked for decades, though, and over time and with experience, you do get a sense of what you like and what will work for you. If you like it, I think that’s awesome and I applaud you for not contributing to the overfishing problem.
The air fryer looks amazing and I would love to own one, but I do not have a large kitchen. I have limited lower cabinet storage space and even more limited counter space, so I have no place to keep an appliance with such a large footprint. It’s too bad.
Erster 😋🥳
I shoulda made a comment about that especially with how this looks haha
@@SauceStache Yes, at first I thought it was a cake 😄 And then it's a tofu, beetroot cake on a bed of chickpeas and a parmesan coating!😄 I would still try it!😋👍🏼
This is just gonna taste like beets.
I made this because I was interested in how it tastes. I cannot in good faith say it tastes like salmon. It still tastes pretty good but in no way could I describe it as a fish-like taste in the slightest. I can’t even say it looks like realistic salmon either but it was an interesting recipe.
cheese??
abeg! make some more appropriate salmon gourmet meal! edgy veg and sweetpotatosoul paved the way so you could run!
People try to tell me that meat is a different type of protein I said no meat has protein and zinc so as a vegan how do you get your zinc. If I beat the subscribe button I might unsubscribe😅
Really?
There is more zinc in cashews than there is in beef per weight...
Zinc sources.
Chickpeas, tofu, oats, coco powder, lentils, hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds..... Lots of very good sources of zinc.
I'm sorry what? Cheesy salmon? Blasphemy!
No! Ya don't cook with mayo! 🤦♂️ #everyonessocreative 😂
hahah why not?
I was just thinking it was the star of the recipe, probably added the fattyness vegan salmon lacks sometimes :0
Clearly you dont what ya talking about and thats ok lol
nothing about mayonnaise makes it dangerous or inconvenient to cook. Clearly he enjoys what he cooked, so whatever you think is wrong with the mayo ended up being irrelevant. Keep it to yourself next time if you have a habit of being both wrong and nosy.
Why?
Oh no, sir. Oh no
Disgusting!!!
No offense, but just from the thumbnail picture, it does not look realistic. It looks gross.
This is not hummus ! Hummus literally means chickpeas !!! Why all purée beans with tahini care called hummus (chickpeas) 😂
The same reason we call it soy milk
Ah...come on!!. Since houmous became popular, it has been the base for a multitude of different types. Everything evolves, language, food and the language of food. Language evolves to fit people's understanding. I might have added tahini...but then I never follow recipes exactly.
If I have no chickpeas and want to make hummus I will substitute with beans (butter beans, northern etc.) and it’s pretty similar!
Wow you look very healthy! That vegan diet is truly helping! Congrats 👏
I thought this was a Russian dish. It’s called herring under a fur coat when translated.
