This was great! Very relatable. It definitely made me feel better about how all my attempts to follow recipes all come out very different 😂. I'd love to see more of these
Yours looks so good! I tried this recipe with firm tofu as listed in the cookbook and I wish I had used super firm. My filets came out super soggy and bland. Definitely marinade for as long as possible! I served mine with a side of creamy polenta and mushrooms.
I have not watched the entire video yet but that salmon looks impeccable and I'm dying to try it. This is definitely a cookbook I'm buying at the first chance.
Literally just searched for a hot for food recipe on Google, then went on School Night Vegan's website directly afterwards, and right after that opened RUclips and this was the very first thing my eyes landed on. Crazy!
Fun video, thanks Lauren. Every once in a while I try to make a vegan fish fillet with several layers of seaweed alternating with the tofu. (Does that make sense?) I’ve got four or five different kinds of seaweed but I haven’t had luck keeping the structure together. Now I’ll have to try again lol
The Easy Vegan has a recipe for fish and chips where he uses this method! He holds the tofu and seaweed together with toothpicks before its held together by the batter. I think if you Lauren's recipe and made those slits partway through and stuffed in the seaweed, it would probably still hold! Toothpick method would be risky especially if serving to kids, but as long as you remember to double (or triple!) check, it would probably work great!
Yes! Nori between each layer makes it look like it's flaky. I've done this and was super impressed with the results. Kind of time consuming like making lasagna on a tiny scale, so I've only done it once. Lol
So fun! This looks like a great place to use Pink Tofu!
ok but what is PINK TOFU!!!!
oh yes, the red lentil tofu is the perfect color!
So fun to see a recipe developer follow someone else's recipe:) Not as smooth as I expected, but very relatable;)

Love this! 💜 What genius using rice paper to hold the Nori in place! I must get this cookbook! Thanks for sharing!
it's a great cookbook!

those sides sounds great!
How clever! Yes you are correct about the salt format in the location of the seasoning for the marinade.
I did buy Richard’s book already, but haven’t tried this yet. I definitely will, as I ❤ tofu & nori.
Hope you enjoy it!
Looks so good. What a fun recipe that I will try this Friday. Thanks Lauren.
You are so welcome!

yes there's alot of great recipes in his book! I added this recipe to my blog with his permission!
I love her honestly 😂

I've made vegan fish fillets with seaweed on one side and it doesn't shrink. I imagine it might have something to do with the rice paper maybe?
ya no idea, as Richard told me his didn't shrink LOL
Not at all of tofu fan, so I won’t be trying this, but it does look pretty incredible! Always good to see you, Lauren!💜
what how can you NOT like tofu! Like I always say, you probably just haven't had it made properly :D
I am sorry..we all know tofu absorbs all seasoning you soak it with….where are the sea food flavours in here…except for nori ???? Come one!!!!
