honestly I think Aaron Sterling is one of the best drummers for John Mayer: the level of intensity and control this man has over dynamics is just startlingly good.
albeit of course steve jordan is perfect for the trio stuff, while I think Sterling is great for all the other stuff

This is a killer performance, isn't it? So raw, so tender, so true, so screaming and weeping and ... Actually I am a classical opera singer (bass) and as an instrument I just play piano (mostly J.S. Bach). Usually I detest pop music. But not with John Mayer, and especially not with this very performance of Slow Dancing In A Burning Room. That guitar solo is an emotional eruption, and after 25 times it still transports me into space.

When I grew up everyone in my age group hated John Mayer and saw him as cliche girl pop music. Fast forward a year after high school I survived a serious car accident that almost killed me.
Still recovering from multiple fractures in my spine, a relative of mine convinced me to go see John Mayer in San Diego during the summer. They wanted to get me out of the house to boost my mood.
Mayer went on to put one of the best live performances I had ever seen. I was literally left speechless and had my mind blown by his guitar playing abilities.
Like the girl in this video I started to cry during his solo of Slow Dancing In A Burning Room. The climax of the song just reverberated throughput my entire body and made me emotional.
I was so grateful to be alive. To be a survivor. To be in that moment under the stars experiencing the raw expression of his musical talents.
I'm in my 30s now and every guy from my generation now reveres Mayer and is their favorite technical guitar player.
Sorry to ramble, I randomly stumbled on this video and it made me emotional. Wanted to just put my story out there and tell others that life is incredible and worth fighting for. As someone brought back from deaths door it truly gave me a new take on life. Even 15 years later. Hope everyone out there gets the love they deserve.

I have watched your family tribute over and over. THIS is the way life is meant to be spent on this earth. I KNOW that is makes it massively difficult when one of our tribe moves on to the eternal phase, but they ARE still there-just not here with us. We are the ones left w/ the loss, pain, hurt, loneliness, sadness, and misery of learning a different way to live. It is SO DIFFICULT. We can NEVER be prepared. You are in my heart and my prayers. Kathy

John just being John is extra. Then he goes and tops it off, making it a much more than over the top performance. It's not even on the planet or within its atmosphere. It's too good, and we are not worthy of his magnificence. After all, he is the King ❣❣👑

Am I the only who “hears” the guitar and get’s fancy about it? The solo at the end, not choices, tone, build up…like a heartbreaking story of an angry, heartbroken, sobbing piece of wood that scream and cries in vain. Straight to and through your heart.

He played soul for a bunch of college girls and now he plays dead for all the dead heads. What a world. I love John Mayer and all the music he puts out into the world. What a musician. What a man. He has changed ten fold. It’s a ride to see it all. I count myself lucky.

I think we are seeing a once in a lifetime musician right before our eyes ... not to take anything away from Hendrix, Clapton, etc but JM has mastered all their styles (and beyond) It’s mind boggling and a bit frustrating to know you will never come close to JM.
