      @@allisonmerino2924 sorry I missed this one. I don’t recommend or use elimination communication. If parents want to do it then that is great. Elimination communication is essentially toilet timing. When I refer to toilet training I mean the child should indicate and go to the toilet independently. I do find waiting until the child is older means that the toilet training process can be done within a few days.

    I thank God this video showed up on my feed. Oh wow. My 2-year-old was doing pretty well, telling me he needs to pee. All of a sudden he stopped and now pees in his diapers. I now realized what was wrong. One day he had a very bad accident and I yelled at him so bad. Even though I apologized to him, I now realized I got him scared. The other mistake is asking him if he needs to pee. Like the video says, his response is always no, even though he clearly needs to go. This momma has learned her lesson. Thank you

      Same here! My 18mo was telling me he needed to pee and was doing very well. All of a sudden he started to have accidents and stopped telling me he had to pee. I realized that I was getting visibly frustrated at him when he would have an accident, mostly due to the lack of sleep since I also have a newborn. Not his fault, that's totally my problem. Today I really made sure not to get overly frustrated and thankfully he is back at telling me he wants to pee.
      I wasnt sure though that this was the problem until I watched this video. So glad it got recommended.

      @thegodinezfamilyy1617 I was the same way. My nephew had issues until he was 9. His mom took him to the doctor and found he had a retention bladder issue and did some form of therapy, and he was good from there on.

      @TheGodinezFamilyy most children will outgrow werting the bed max before they’re 18, however there is a 1% who continue into adulthood.
      Unfortunately I am one of those adults. I am 29 a mother of 2 and I suffer nocturnal enuresis aka bed wetting at night mostly (extremely rarely during the day).
      You can take your child to the doctor to see if there is nothing wrong and if not, start sleep and bladder training.
      Unfortunately nothing has worked for me so I just wear a diaper at night time. 😁

    I started potty training my son on a Thursday, he was fully potty trained by Saturday. It has now been a month and he has only had one accident in the past three weeks. I’m so proud of him. Just letting him be naked, talking to him about being a big boy going on the toilet, constant praise and ignoring the accidents, worked for him.
    The only issue I have now is that he has figured out he can get out of a non preferred task by saying he needs to use the restroom. Oh well, I have 2nd graders that do this too. He will learn.

When I put underwear on her she treats it like a pull up and pees in it and still rarely asks. It’s very frustrating when you think they got it and you have to keep starting over

    Make potty training part of family routine. As a older 68 year old I've had to go back to bladder training and realize that it should just be part of our daily routine. All of us should empty our bladder before we leave the house, before nap and bed times and first thing in the morning. I just always made it a family then, "Every one empty your bladder". I now have had to start again making it a point of toilet routine, I do try to empty my bladder on every hour since I've lost the control factor. This was a great toilet training vlog.

    The pooing is such a big thing. I'm a foster carer and child protection sends me the really hard kids. These kids often have continence issues. Had a 8 year old who wet his pants all the time and a 9 year old who would only poo in his pants. 9 year is state champion cross country runner and in the talented and gifted program. Both clever kids so no intellectual issues to get in the way.
    First kid I got the doctor to x-ray him and he was chronically constipated. Cleared the blockage and now he only wets the bed.
    Second we cleared his constipation but he still wouldn't sit on the toilet or even squat outside. Would only use his pants. I rewarded him for wearing a nappy after dinner and then praised him for pooing in his nappy. After 6 months of getting praise for pooing his nappy he would happily do it while talking to me rather than hiding. He wasn't scared of his accidents any more. We then got him to do it in one spot that we marked with a dot. Over 4 months we moved that dot slowly down the house till it was in the bathroom. Final step was getting him to poo in his nappy on the toilet, then slowly with a looser and looser nappy. Took a year but he now goes in the toilet with no issues. Had his first sleepover two weeks ago.
    So yeah... Follow those tips or you can spend a year cheering a 9/10 year old for pooping in his nappy.

But he pretty much went straight from pooping while standing next to the toilet while chatting, to me to sitting on the toilet in his nappy.
      Because he was 10 he didn't have any real fear or discomfort from sitting on the toilet.
      Another idea if it's a younger kid who is scared is to sit on the toilet lid. Even if they aren't able to poo while sitting on something solid maybe they can play some fun game while there.

    I'm about to start potty training my 4th child (she's 1) and honestly the best advice I've gotten in a loooong time is to start EARLY. I mean before age 1. No pressure, just sit them on the potty first thing in the morning, and a couple times throughout the day to get them used to the act.
    I NEVER used pullups.....I always thought they were way too expensive and didn't really accomplish what they're made to do. I just let my kids run around the house (just underware on, sometimes bare butt) and yeah- accidents happened! But don't freak out....its how they LEARN. Sure it's gross, but what's worse, a few weeks of accidents- or months(years) of changing diapers? You do the math LOL! Thank you for the refresher course!

    When it comes to reacting to an accident, of course you don't want to react angrily, but you also don't want to say, "That's okay!" Because nobody likes an accident. What I've arrived at is, "Oh, that's too bad. I'm sorry you had an accident. Let's take care of it." Then they learn it's an unfortunate event that has to be dealt with, even if they're not "in trouble" for it.

    I know that this is kinda an old video, but I can see why parents would do these and how they could backfire! Our LO is going on 3, so we started potty training him on Saturday using that "3-day" method. Today is Wednesday, and both times that he went pee so far today, it was on the potty. None on the floor. However, he pooped in his underwear 😆 he is still a bit unsure about the potty, and I'm finding out that it's better to get him to the bathroom only when he starts doing his Irish jig with his legs! Taking him to the bathroom and trying to force him to sit on the potty only backfired on me on Monday. Oh well. I'm still learning too!

    You are giving very good advice, I find all your points to be true.
    However, I have not found it to be necessary to potty train two of my sons. There was a time when they were just ready, and they knew that they have to go to the toilet. Then motivation was key
    My firstborn son got motivated by his same age friend and neighbor. Within 2 days, he didn't need a diaper in the day or night.
    My second one was trickier. I got him to use the toilet by forbidding him to do so. He loves doing the opposite of what he's told.
    Now my 3rd son is the trickiest and I will try your advices on him.

    My son was internet in the potty since 6 months old , we bought one, he never sat on it, only took it apart and only wanted to use the big toilet so i had to hold him up to pee and poo. He didn’t want any attachment seat on top either. By age 2 he was able to use the step chair by himself and peed and pood in it successfully for a few months. But then one day we were at the mall and my husband set off the automatic hand dryer in the bathroom and it was extremely loud. He screamed and since then he stopped pooing on the toilet. Then i made the mistake of forcing him to sit when I realized os busy pushing. He screamed again. Even though it came out and all was okay. From now on when he wants to poo he asks me to put a diaper on for him which i am doing because I don’t want the stress of getting him to sit. Howcome trained toddlers then go against what they already know? It’s so frustrating as i put months into it to start with.

    Suggestions to every mom and dad, show them the song "potty training" from cocomelon. My daughter started her pee potty training at 2.2 years old and what helped us was giving a routine "one pee in the morning, one before nap and one before sleep" while signing "you got a funny feeling way down low". I would put at home training pants from walmart and when we are out, pullups. Then at 2.6 she started having diarrhea and we sang the cocomelon song and I would hug her while she poos, so we removed the pullups during the day as she would tell us what she needs. Then at 2.8 she asked to remove the pullup at night because she is like JJ from cocomelon. She is now 2.10 and is fully potty trained even at night. She will wake up once at night to pee. The only issue I have is that she always wants a hug while pooping but oh well I am working on that. 🤣 Thank you cocomelon 🤣🤣

    I’ve learned having a child practice all the steps of going potty after an accident. With wet undies have them run to potty a few times and pull them down, sit and reinforce the right behavior helps them know what to do and because they have wet undies they are uncomfortable so they do avoid wetting accidents because they don’t want to practice.
    Also make a huge deal of success. FaceTime dad or grandma or mom or cousins etc. right after (ask them beforehand if you can do this a few times in the first few days so they know to exaggerate excitement.) have siblings in on it. Give potty treats to everyone (even if it’s just a couple raisins add the family to the celebration)!

      Advertisements for disposable diapers boast about how dry and comfortable the baby feels. When they feature toddlers, I think . It works absolutely fine and after about 4-8 weeks that are a bit tough it becomes less work than regular diaper changes. I have trained 6 children, none of them before 3 1/2. That way I could explain and they understood. All 6 of them were trained for day and night within 2 weeks. What’s the deal with training so young????

    • @Kingatje
      @Kingatje 2 года назад +2

      There are several downsides, one is that by age 3 bladder control should be there, it shouldn't be when they start to train it (it gets harder to train the later you start). Secondly some children develop shame from having to poop their diapers or they actually stop caring about it which might be worse. Thirdly, you end up using a lot of diapers if you do so up to that age... gets expensive and creates that much more garbage.
      The ideal training window is between 24-36 months. My 24 month old got it in 3 days time (note - not night time training, he still sleeps 12hrs per night, impossible to keep dry that long), and now a month later only has very few accidents and only in extreme situations. He has visibly grown with a sense of pride. It can and should be done "early".

    • @belindaransby2357
      @belindaransby2357 2 года назад

      You are absolutely right. So many parents push and push to train too early. I left my two until they were nearly 3 and were fully trained in a matter of days. Like you say they are old enough at 3 to understand what's happening. I get so angry when I see mothers putting a 6 month old on a potty. Complete waste of time and quite frankly I think it can be damaging to the child.

    • @roar44879
      @roar44879 2 года назад +1

      @@belindaransby2357 Why? Babies are smart. If you put them on the potty young (even just occasionally), they make the connection to pee and poo in the potty. Mine always pees in the potty after waking up in the morning and from naps, after coming back in the house from errands or walks, and has a poo 10-20 after breakfast and lunch; I am not forcing it, I just know when he needs to go and offer the potty instead of letting him soil himself. Half the babies around the world are trained around their first birthday. It doesn't damage them. It's tuning into your babies' needs and offering relief instead of forcing them to soil themselves.

    I have twins, and they are 4 and have a speech delay. They still can't hold their pee for 2 hours. This is really worrying. I am having sleepless nights if I am already too late training them and about their bladder capacity. Any pointers or advice at all? Would be really grateful!

    Any tips for teaching a non verbal toddler to get pants down? Mine has no interest and gets upset when I try to practice with him. But, as far as going #1 and #2 in the potty, he's got it down. He's also dry through naps and only pees a little in his diaper overnight (used to be soaked).

    So if there's resistance or a regression to pooping on potty due to my anger reactions, how do I go about repairing that? Do we take a break (like a week or so) and try again with a fresh start?
