Love my 23 XL hybrid maverick. I didn't like the 16 month wait, but I'm averaging 45mpg consistently, and have had 900lbs in the bed multiple times with no problem. All for less than a new Honda civic. Pretty crazy.

@PaniKontrol Yes driving in traffic gets about twice the mpg of the hwy. 36.7 combined is my total based on driving a lot of highway miles per my videos.

They need to offer an e-AWD version with a small electric motor for the rear wheels! A Maverick hybrid with AWD would be the perfect setup for a fuel efficient truck!

I have to agree, interior space is actually very good. I'm coming in from a full-sized truck and don't feel cramped at all, and I'm 6'2" 275 lbs.. Your overall mileage matches my 2.0L Ecoboost on some trips at 34 mpg. My trips had also been in the southwest portion of NY, which isn't much different that riding through PA to Pittsburgh. It's been a good little vehicle so far, and after six months of ownership I'm still quite pleased. Just wish the seating surface felt better, that there was a bit more bolstering, and more bass to the stereo.
Awesome truck, more than enough for most truck owners. If my wife and I didn’t need the payload and tow capacity of an F150, we'd have one in an instant!
I appreciate TK videos on the maverick. As a big guy who was unable test drive one, it was nice to see them test and compare the size of the cabin and back seats.
Thanks for this..... nice to see videos coming out still about the Maverick for those of us who have tried to order but not been able to get. I've been paying close attention to the new Tacoma as well, obviously the Maverick will be a lot less $$ but if availability is still an issue it might have to go to the Tacoma.... time will tell. Would love to see a Toyota competitor to this that has a little more room than the Tacoma seems to be shaping up to have.
Jared, I bought 2 I show in my videos by ordering and waiting a few months. Your next opportunity is July 17. But dont delay because now that millions more know about the Mav, my bet is 2024MY capacity sells out in 1 day, not 1 week like last time.
We stumbled upon a perfectly optioned Maverick Hybrid Lariat. Our local Ford Dealer had this one sitting on their lot and we happened to spot it from the road. I said, “Did you see it too?” So we whipped around and found that it had the exact color (Cactus) with the blackout package, bed cover…basically the whole nine yards. Guy ordered it and got tired of waiting so he got a Ranger. This one had been on the lot for two days. And we got a great deal on two trade-ins to boot. We’re very happy. We got it last Tuesday then left for a vacation in our motorhome, so I’m eager to get back home and push ALL the buttons.😂
I’ve had my Maverick Lariat for 2 months now and absolutely love it! I choose turbo over the Hybrid just so I could have more towing power… The turbo too gets phenomenal fuel economy. Was it worth the wait? Absolutely! This truck is fantastic!
The thing that killed the Maverick for me had nothing to do with the truck- it's the dealers. I was shopping for a lariat hybrid (with upgraded audio, spray in liner, etc) but have come to the conclusion that I stand a better chance of hitting the lottery than finding one within 10k of MSRP. Dealers here (Texas) are tacking on thousands in "market adjustments" to every single one. Even when they are special ordered, they'll tack it on, and when the customer backs out, they demo it for a few weeks, title it, and sell it as "used" for 10k over sticker. Ford dealers are the reason you don't see more Mavericks on the road, and they are destroying the sales of what should've been a home run for Ford. My take is that if the dealerships are this unscrupulous when it comes to sales, the service/ warranty experience will likely be the same or worse, and has removed pretty much any Ford product from consideration for me. My hopes are that GM or Toyota produce something similar, because a small truck would work out perfectly for me (good MPG, and just enough capacity for the occasional junkyard run to get parts for my less sensible vehicles).
Adding a markup with a special order is very scummy. I've had mine for about two weeks now and had a great dealership experience. They agreed to MSRP and kept their word. It's worth finding a dealership like that.
Our dealers tell us u can't order any. Why do they advertise if u can't buy one. Sad they can't produce . Another friend just bought a used Colorado because he couldn't buy a maverick.
I've said that quite a few of the Ford Dealer franchises here in TX are, frankly, shady. My buddy got maverick hybrid by going up to OK and got a much better deal with a reputable dealer.. Also: I don't get why Chevy wont bring the Montana to the NA Market. It would be a suitable competitor to both the Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz.
Love my hybrid lariat. Mileage is as stated: avg 42-44 mostly city. The hybrid does pack a punch off the line for a brief moment with the electric and gas motors-great for city driving.
It’s fairly quiet unless u give it the beans to pass someone full throttle. The lariat has an acoustic windshield and some sound deadening in the fenders.
I remember seeing ads online for US Mavericks starting at $20K for the base XL hybrid. Not even close nowadays. I've been looking for an S-10 sized p/u (had a '95), so hopefully, Chevy brings one back. (Rumors that the 'world truck' Montana may be coming, but still rumors).
Those SR5's were sweet little trucks. Miss the old '83 S-10 we had with the V6. Watched my brother get his butt reamed by the police for taking some sharp S corners at over 130km/h in an 80 zone and 60km/h signs on the corners. LOL Those poor tires were screaming for dear life ... kind of like he was after getting the speeding ticket. Today it would have been a vehicle impound and license suspension on the spot. Other brother had a long string of early Rangers. Bodies kept rusting off of them, but they'd always run.
@@ChrisPollard I couldn't agree more. I should also have added that a truck channeling the size and looks of a GMC Sonoma GT or Syclone would be the dream come true. Imagine a truck that size with even any of the manufacturers' outgoing v6s. The sport suspension package on S10s was legitimately good too. I messed up so badly not to get one brand new in 2002.
@@Arkeo36 I ended up "settling" for a Hyundai Santa Cruz in 2021. 20 months and over 40,000 miles with it and I have ZERO regrets. For me, who doesn't off-road and does a ton of highway driving, I couldn't want much more. Performance-wise, the worst thing is a really bad launch. First gear is a slug, but once you get started the torque just doesn't quit. Even with the soft launch it'll do sub-6 second 0-60. Still not the 4.3 of the old Syclone, but that didn't give you 28mpg on the highway either. LOL Favorite vehicle I've ever owned, bar none. I'd get another in a heartbeat.
while on vacation in Turks last February, I DID see a mini dodge 1000 pick up truck and it was beautiful....i immediately called my Chrysler dealership buddy and asked what is up with the Dodge mini truck and he said they were working on an American version...I told him they are missing the boat on this one big time!!!....Colorado, Canyon, Ridgeline, Tacoma, Maverick.....what is their delay???....of course, it is big in europe and in foreign lands but not here in North America.....sometimes money ruins everything for car/truck owners
We need more of these vehicles and similar size from other car manufacturers. Lets face it, we all don't need a mid and full size truck, let alone we don't want such crappy gas mileage either. Can't wai tto see what comes down the line.
I've had my Lariat Hybrid for 1 year now, 21,700 miles. I commute 80 miles a day for work and I average 44 mpg which Is way over what the window sticker promised.
@@robertcunningham9626 Nope. I run it in normal mode. I try to be semi conscious of how heavy I accelerate but not trying hard. Its cold outside now so I've dipped down to like 42.8 mpg currently.
Just has the chance to actually watch the video after my first comment. I put 450 miles on a maverick hybrid with at least 380 of that being interstate at 75-105mph (mostly around 85) and in no way trying to conserve fuel. I also averaged the same fuel economy!
Wondering how much of that noise might be due to the moon roof? I have a F150 Lariat, with a moon roof and it is much noisier than similar trucks without the moon roof overhead. Also I think the Lariat version of the Maverick has an acoustic windshield. Well I'll see pretty soon for myself. My XL is due in a week, and the Lariat has a build date in August. So we will compare.
The trip computers are sometimes off as much as 1 litre per 100 km. You really have to figure out the mileage by hand to get a true reading. I'm sure the vehicle gets great mileage though.
As soon as I find a xl (preferably) or xlt maverick hybrid that doesn't have any stupid options at or below msrp, I'm buying it. Simply a want though, not a need by any stretch of the imagination. So, no way I'm paying over msrp for anything lol.
6.9L per 100km is ok for mostly highway speed+, self chagrin hybrids make more sense for urban duties not highways where the set up will be using petrol, and only getting regen back into the battery when using the brakes or coasting as the e-cvt allows for energy to be recouped but how much? small battery so the battery stays charged pretty much the whole time. According to ford fuel tank size for the Hybrid Maverick is 62L which is decent size considering the Escape Hybrid / PHEV has a small 45L tank (well in Europe and other markets like Australia), based on Truck King numbers where there was 146km worth of pure electric drive the range should be 730km which is 11.7km per 1L, sounds about right for this type of vehicle. The big help is the Attickson cycle and e-cvt for highway use, but again it would ot surprise me to see the turbo petrol be able to achieve surround the same fuel consumption targets at highway speeds., m own Ford Escape on the highway is able to get arond 7.5L per 100km and that is AWD 6-speed 2L turbo petrol OTTO cycle.
Nice truck, safety yellow will be nice for deer season but not sure it would be my color of choice. I'm guessing the payload is 1400-1600? which great for that size truck.
ecoboost is not the bigger engine it's the smaller 😊 now just to put things into perspective, my 2017 Kia Sorento V6 AWD is rated 25mpg but I have no problem getting 30-32mpg on highway at 80+mph with family and cargo despite being 290hp, three row and 450lbs heavier, not hybrid and rated to tow 5000lbs vs maverick hybrid 2000lbs, and payload is the same 1500lbs so the city mpg is impressive but highway mpg really not so much
Wow you get great mpg on that Kia! Yes, for road trips, hwy mpg is not much different on the Maverick engines. I just posted a video on this subject showing per a .gov website, the overall avg difference in monthly fuel cost is only $67. Hope my info helps.
50k CAD for this fwd thing is nuts. I paid 54k CAD after rebates for my ram 1500 level 2 bighorn 4x4 with a hemi back in 2019. I like the idea of a small truck, but the pricing doesn't seem to match.
This truck in the video has a base MSRP of $36,150 CAD but then also had $11,255 CAD worth of options on it. Adds up quick, and makes it less appealing for sure.
Me too. 24 Ranger will only come in Crew- not even Supercab. 24 F-150 only has regular cab in XL. Toyota doesn't offer regular cabs here. What I want is Reg cab Hilux offered in some countries. Regular cabs just look better.
@@amandahuginkiss4098 I've made similar comments in other threads, and nobody has agreed with me. I'm just going to accept that I'm a dinosaur and go extinct. The people have spoken, and they want 4-door, 2-foot bed trucks.
Wouldn't mind a Maverick XLT or Lariat FX4....the 4K tow capacity is double what my 87 4x2 Ranger can tow, but Ford derated their manual transmission equipped trucks back then it seemed like....the only huge negative, my Ranger has a 7 foot bed, its hard to give that up LOL. My Ranger gets mid 20's for fuel economy on the highway with the 2.9L V6, but its a bare bones basic work truck, which is really all I need....but if I had to get a "truck" now I'd settle for a Maverick as it would most likely do a lot of what I use my Ranger for which is DIY stuff around the house, picking up materials from the lumber yard, bags of mulch, that type of stuff....just don't care to have vehicle payments again LOL...everything I have now has long been paid off of course, and in the economy now, I don't care to take on more debt. If they come out with a Maverick hybrid AWD, it might be worth considering, if it can do better than mid 20's for fuel economy on the highway...don't see why it couldn't since the hybrid 2WD Maverick is getting in the mid 30's.
Im averaging 10 l per 100km in my PRO 4x . So at 1.3 a liter that dame trup would cost me 66 dollars extra.. any savings you make with a ford is negated with repairs and resale thats not so good. Short term savings on this vehicle is good only if you plan on leasing it
The sad part about the state of trucks is no more f150 diesel getting 30 mpg. By the time I was ready to get one it was cancelled. Maverick is just too small
Does You tube realize they show ads that feature ZERO appeal to me by using the stereotype actors that nobody watching these Ford Maverick videos are of that gender or race?
too bad the united states is full of scumbag dealers who are marking the shit outta these. the local dealership here in tx buys every new maverick themselves then sells them as used for 50% markups to technically follow the rules from ford.
For a truck it's excellent. It's actually better than awd SUV territory. And keep in mind hybrids make the most sense for city driving - not highway trips.
And you do relaize that Toyota stopped offering a V6 in Tacoma and are copying Ford with the turbo 4s? And they also will come out with hybrid Tacoma? Your comment makes sense. And I drive a Toyota.
It’s not loud at all. I’ve had mine for about a year and a half. I think it’s quiet. It probably depends on what vehicle you are coming from because it is far quieter than my Chevy Equinox.
That's honestly kind of poor fuel economy for a vehicle that size. I realize it's not a truck, but my Ford Focus gets about 40mpg on a trip like that, and has more space inside than the Maverick. When I've sat in it at a couple of auto shows, the Maverick feels more Fiesta-sized than Focus-sized. The Fiesta and Maverick are not comfortable for a larger person.

@JC Denton No, just a man married to a woman. JC, a lot of mid and full size trucks have less payload and only 6-12" more bed space than the Maverick. So spend twice the price on a body on frame per my video: 2 Maverick XLTs for the price of 1 F-150 XLT.

How’s the road noise on these mavericks?
I've had my Lariat Hybrid for 1 year now, 21,700 miles. I commute 80 miles a day for work and I average 44 mpg which Is way over what the window sticker promised.
Do you run in Eco mode?
@@robertcunningham9626 Nope. I run it in normal mode. I try to be semi conscious of how heavy I accelerate but not trying hard. Its cold outside now so I've dipped down to like 42.8 mpg currently.
Just has the chance to actually watch the video after my first comment. I put 450 miles on a maverick hybrid with at least 380 of that being interstate at 75-105mph (mostly around 85) and in no way trying to conserve fuel. I also averaged the same fuel economy!
Yes, I do not drive slowly or in eco mode and the dash readout on my videos shows combined 36.7 mpg.
Wow you will own 2 Mavericks like I show in my videos. Post some of your own I will sub!
The trip computers are sometimes off as much as 1 litre per 100 km. You really have to figure out the mileage by hand to get a true reading. I'm sure the vehicle gets great mileage though.
has the under hood fire hazard recall (150,000 units, pretty much all sold Mavericks)been fixed? is Ford still 'working on it'?
It great I just purchase a XLT hybrid Maverick
I only wish this truck existed 23 years ago
The big help is the Attickson cycle and e-cvt for highway use, but again it would ot surprise me to see the turbo petrol be able to achieve surround the same fuel consumption targets at highway speeds., m own Ford Escape on the highway is able to get arond 7.5L per 100km and that is AWD 6-speed 2L turbo petrol OTTO cycle.
it's almost June 2023...what is the availability of these small trucks now? We still have to order them and wait for the build?
I believe the new 2024 ranger will be much bigger and more comfortable on the inside right? I heard it has 38 inches in the rear seat
Any idea what that trip cost in fuel in Canadian $? I love this truck! It's about half what my Everglades gets lol
Nice truck, safety yellow will be nice for deer season but not sure it would be my color of choice. I'm guessing the payload is 1400-1600? which great for that size truck.
Apparently there is a know defect with the Ford Maverick hybrid clutch system malfunctioning causing a unsafe lurching when braking.
MAV brakes lurching. Dealer can do the TSB -fixes it.
same l/100 as my camry
It looks good, but I don't need any vehicles right now. Will be interest to see Toyota Stout next year.
Is a Tacoma quieter?
ecoboost is not the bigger engine it's the smaller 😊
now just to put things into perspective, my 2017 Kia Sorento V6 AWD is rated 25mpg but I have no problem getting 30-32mpg on highway at 80+mph with family and cargo despite being 290hp, three row and 450lbs heavier, not hybrid and rated to tow 5000lbs vs maverick hybrid 2000lbs, and payload is the same 1500lbs so the city mpg is impressive but highway mpg really not so much
Wow you get great mpg on that Kia!
Man…how did that msrp get up to 50k? Thought the hybrid was supposed to be the bargain of the lineup.
This truck in the video has a base MSRP of $36,150 CAD but then also had $11,255 CAD worth of options on it. Adds up quick, and makes it less appealing for sure.
Just don't get the options. Options are never worth it considering you still get a whole fricking car at the base model price.
@@TruckKing ok….makes sense. And an xlt or xl would be even less.
A HOME DEPOT/ LOWES grocery go getter.
I can't wait for Ram and Toyota to come out with her compact pickup trucks
As far as we know, Ram isn't bringing their compact truck here, and Toyota has said they aren't making a truck smaller than the Tacoma.
Sounds like Toyota is planning a small unibody pickup, maybe calling it the Stout
Its good mommy showed up! Somebody has to claim are big boy.
Since we’re recycling old model names, Chevy should reboot the Luv!
I say bring back the El Camino and related vehicles!
@@GKMess42 The Maverick may as well be a Ranchero.
@@garysarratt1 exactly, except the Ranchero looked cooler. That's sort of where I got the idea.
I'm looking at the '24 model in the Lariat trim, Seriously its a great road truck, would love to see an AWD version!!
They need affordable suvs or vans. I have 2 kids under 4 and no way i can use that thing with car seats. They make that for people without kids.
That sucks. The toyota prius platform pu is going to eat that. Plus it's bulletproof not like engines blowing up.
Whats the gas mileage on the Pinto and Mustang 2 trucks???
My only hesitancy is every Ford dealer slapping at least a $5K markup on every hybrid 😡
JS, you will avoid ADM by ordering a 2024MY July 17 from a dealer that charges msrp they are out there. Ask any questions on my videos.
A Toyota compact truck, with the prius/camry hybrid motor would perfect...and dominate
The cost is too high for the options
I wish they would offer this in a 2-door configuration. I hate crew cab "trucks."
Not everyone interested in a hybrid maverick lives in Canada. Miles per gallon information would be appreciated.
so for us non metrics 34 mpg
Heard something about Toyota Stout small truck
Short term savings on this vehicle is good only if you plan on leasing it
Toyota already announced the competitor the Stout.
Be non-hybrid EcoBoost is not a bigger engine.
I hope i can win the lottery so that I can afford this "cheap" truck
Rumours have been circulating that Toyota will be releasing the Stout in a few years.
Great truck until you have to sit in the back seat !!
The sad part about the state of trucks is no more f150 diesel getting 30 mpg. By the time I was ready to get one it was cancelled. Maverick is just too small
Yea not sure how the pirates fell off so quick lol
35mpg is nothing to crow about. My B2200 got that, in 1992....
With 50 horse power…
Id buy it as soon as they add AWD to it.
Its a hybrid I wouldn't expect anything less than over 30 mpg average for this still not gonna get one.
Why are you here?
Why in Kilos? We're in merica! Now I have to Google the conversion that's stupid!
Probably because they are a Canadian channel, and us Canucks (along with most everyone else) use the metric system.
they put the conversion on the video.. did you even watch?
Was that math hard for you?
wind noise???.....it's a Ford
Didn’t even get good fuel economy on the trip, kind of standard mid-size SUV fuel economy. Not sure why he’s calling this hood MPG?
For a truck it's excellent. It's actually better than awd SUV territory. And keep in mind hybrids make the most sense for city driving - not highway trips.
Front wheel drive truck is sacrilegious
its not a truck you clown its a utility also its unibody not body on frame but typical north american lameoids think they know better.
soooo boring, not for any kind of enthusiast
Fords jumping on the woke nonsense. Im waiting for toyotas truck.
And you do relaize that Toyota stopped offering a V6 in Tacoma and are copying Ford with the turbo 4s? And they also will come out with hybrid Tacoma?
Your comment makes sense. And I drive a Toyota.
Its a cheap truck of course it's gonna be loud inside
You can see my road trip videos driving over 700 miles. Very little road noise.
Straight up lying.
@@ClicktheMaverick says who? The guy with the biased username?
I've owned this Ford Focus for over 7 years. I can assure you what I said is true.
Judging by your recent comments, you're just trying to pick a fight.
@@GKMess42 interesting. I was thinking the same thing about your comment.
"Incredible MPG"
But you'd have to drive a girly Maverick. No thanks.
small penis syndrome u got?
I must really be girly, because I own 2 Mavericks I show in my videos.
Why are you here?
@@fordmaverickmaniac That or you're transsexual. I am of the opinion too that it's a girly pickup. The Maverick isn't even a truck it rides on the Ford C2 platform which underpins the Ford Focus. But hey at the end of the day if you're happy with the Maverick than that's ok.
@JC Denton No, just a man married to a woman.
JC, a lot of mid and full size trucks have less payload and only 6-12" more bed space than the Maverick. So spend twice the price on a body on frame per my video: 2 Maverick XLTs for the price of 1 F-150 XLT.
$50k!!
