Glad you enjoyed the trip around the arcades of your "home town" Pat... Thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
Glorious architecture. Very posh shops. 😀 Thank you Phil and Caroline. Very enjoyable 💜
Yes Annette, very posh shops indeed... Glad you liked the architecture, thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
Wow I could walk around there for days just looking at the grand architectures of the buildings! Beautiful!
So glad you liked the architecture Debra... Thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
In my younger days in the 70,s I would go Cardiff on a Saturday night and have a couple of pints of brains dark in the old arcade pub. Me and my mate would then go to a club and walk home from town to our homes on the Llanrumney estate. Their used to be a friendly atmosphere in Cardiff. We always felt safe and never had any trouble
Also lived in Llanrumney in the 70's though as I am probably a few years the younger I'd probably have a few milkshakes or some Corona pop.
@@edtuckerartist
I remember those corona bottles, with the white metal cap with 10p on them, that was our money for sweets as kids.
I always preferred corona before lowes, if you remember lowes. 👍
Great to know that the video brought back good memories Ronald. It's a great city, thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
Great fun! Love your tie Phil!
Thanks Adam 🐲 🙂😎🐼 🐲
Hands and eyes free traveling that’s wonderful ⭐️⭐️⭐️Love the buildings in Cardiff and the shops! Gorgeous Church of John the Baptist! The history is fascinating of all the old buildings! 😮 Manky is having fun too! Phil you look dapper in your suit, I only had a glimpse of Caroline in a blue blouse but she always looks stunning 🤩
Thank you so much Susan, you always say such nice things... We're so pleased to hear how much you enjoyed our day in Cardiff, thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
Looks like you had a wonderful time ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yes we did, thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
WOW , more beautiful then any Shopping center I,v ever seen in the USA.
Those Victorians did build some beautiful places Barbara, thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
I do love a train journey and it looks as if Manky does too! The Victorians knew a thing or two and it's fabulous that these arcades have survived in Cardiff. I have a feeling that these may turn out to be the sort of businesses which are going to survive the changes in retail that are killing off lots of other town and city centres. Even with the empty units, there still seems to be lots that's worth visiting. We can buy our everyday needs easily online, but there's always a place for small individual shops where we can browse, and then rest and revive when the shopping's done. And the architecture of these arcades makes you really want to linger. This has definitely whetted my appetite for a long weekend in Cardiff! Loved the tie Phil and a belated happy St. David's day to you both! A lovely outing!
I think your right, the arcades have survived all sorts and they do seem to have what it takes to survive the high street downturn caused by online business. So glad to hear we've tempted you to visit Cardiff for a long weekend. Thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
Love the architecture and variety of shops and arcades. The mixture of ancient and modern I wonder how many 'modern; buildings will be around in 500 years!!!!!
We've seen buildings go up and be demolished during our lifetime Rachel, and the arcades are still standing and open for business! 🙂😎🐼
Thanks for the new adventure, we love the arcades. We can see you enjoyed St David’s Day
Best wishes ⭐️👍😊

What a wonderful day you had, Caroline and Phil ❤️
We did Kristina, and it's great that you could come with us, thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
Interesting that an arcade in Canada is a place to go play games, so at the beginning of the video I thought for a second how can arcades go back that far in time. Have a great week.
Used to be a few (gaming) arcades dotted around the city but the more popular ones were the arcades at Barry island, Penarth and Porthcawl beach fronts.
Yes Michelanne, it all started with the shopping arcades in the victorian times and then the Edwardian's began to build the penny arcades with all the gaming machines. Thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
At first I thought you were talking about game rooms which are called arcades here in the USA. Lol. They were all beautiful. Thank you for the tour!
Me too
Yes Carol, we have penny arcades with games in too, but these were earlier and where the idea originated. So glad you enjoyed the tour, thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
Lovely.
Oh and that big red dragon in the window was magnificent, I loved it ❤ thank you Caroline and Phil 😊
Yes, that was a cracking dragon Deb. As always it's great that you were able to join us. 🙂😎🐼🐼

Positive, informative & FUN... those are our 3 priorities when making a video Cheryl and your beautiful city of Cardiff made that easy. A young modern waterfront capital city with a wealth of history... What's not to like... And we will be back 🙂😎🐼🐼
Very dapper Phil and your outfit Caroline is beautiful. Your right about the last arcade being the best it was a stunner. Beautiful architecture history too. Take care and thank you for sharing Walk around Cardiff 👍🙏❤️
Thank you Chris. Glad you liked the architecture in that last arcade too. You take care too, and as always thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
Stunning architecture so beautiful. Wonderful to think this could have been a place my ancestors visited and how lovely to see a shop with our family name on. Thank you 🙂

I love Cardiff, absolutely beautiful city.
It certainly is 😎🐼🙂🐼
Phil you may start a new trend of combining pizza with chips, that’s a meal I’ve never seen in the U.S. !
Yes Hazel, I order a pizza, but then I help Caroline by eating her chips 😄😂
@@LetsgowithTheJohnsons Phil, I’m sure my grandsons would do the same!
Oh I just love this!!!❤
That's wonderful KKrystal, thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
These are all interesting places but could you go back to mudlarking please.
We're so sorry Cathy, but we've had to reduce the mudlarking content, due to health issues and safety concerns 🙂😎🐼
Ok, I understand, these things just happen as we get older.
Remembers the old arcade where the more modern Queens arcade now stands and that is also now in danger of being replaced. I guess it's not the best location for permanence.
Of course there are more modern arcades/shopping malls in the city centre, St Davids, St Davids 2 and the Capital shopping centre, there is also a small arcade not far from the city centre in Albany road.
Yes Ed, I think the original Queen's Arcade is where the Spillers Record shop started business. But with online stores and Amazon it may be a difficult time ahead for all the high street shops and the arcades
The Cottage sadly now closed used to be a regular of my late father.
So many changes in the city now Ed, but it's nice that the building exterior has been preserved. Thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
🙋♀️❤
Thanks for watching Margaret 🙂😎🐼
Can the pigeons get out?
Yes Laura, the arcades are open at both ends and they fly through 🐦 thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
