this video popped up in my recommendations and i’m so glad it did because you are truly inspiring. after watching i feel less nervous to start my first year at university this september and i just want to thank you for that 💗
Love you Yvonne!! I was happy to be a floormate and supporter through your journey! Knowing you and seeing how you've grown throughout the years so far makes me so proud and I'm so glad I met you on the first day we moved in. Keep doing what you're doing and never stop!! Watching this again now is making me really miss first year HAHA 💕
I’m a little late to the party on this one but I go to UBC too in second year and this video is so so authentic, well thought-out, and great! You are so lucky to have found such an above and beyond support system 💘
Omg I just finished my first year of Ubc too in 2017winter...and your story is completely relatable! I’m an international student and I felt the exact same things in the first year too. I guess watching your video makes me realise that I’m not alone and I’m not the only one. Hope everything’s good now for you and all the best for the coming year!
i relate to this so much. I always end up doing my assignments last minute, like I try to do it on time but my brain never co operates and I end up panicking so much that I start to cry. I don't know if this is called anxiety but when i get called up for not passing up later on I never have the courage to tell my lecturer the reason and I always end up doing something stupid like crying or acting as if I passed it up and making it seem like it was the lecturer's fault for losing it.
September’s coming up so it’ll be another year. Let’s both try to make it the best year! I know it’s hard but I believe in you! Start with changing your mindset and believing that you can do it and then go do it!! :)
This is a nice story time kind of video! I'm attending UBC this year so this is very helpful :) Tho, I am kind of worried, I am currently thinking of taking 5 courses but I'm scared it might be a lot and that I might end up dropping out or not fulfilling credits or requirements but hopefully it won't be that bad :(
Nicole Chacon Hey! Don’t worry, I defiantly think you should stick with 5 courses right now then drop down if you need to. Honestly, 5 courses kept me more on task and I know many people were fine doing it. Don’t stress about it, you’ll be fine :)
Hii, I really love ur channel, keep doing videos for us and thanks to you I am sure that I'd rather to do university there (class '22) ur videos gave me motivation to keep improving my english and my grades .
You're so inspiring! I'm looking at different universities for film/journalism/media studies and your videos have made me so interested in UBC. Did you find that being in such a large student body was isolating at all or that your classes couldn't be personal?
Thank you so much, means alot & I’m so happy to hear!☺️ I personally like the big classes cuz you have your own independence and you get to meet lots of people!!
Was it hard to make friends? How did you find the community/social scene? I'm obsessed with UBC, but I've heard that it can be isolating and it's too big to have a community feeling. What do you think?
Charlotte Reed Hey Charlotte! When I first went to UBC, I was super shy. But not knowing anyone forced me to be social which really worked out in my favour. I met a good group of friends who gave me a line of connections to other friends which was nice:) I do agree that it’s huge but I also think it’s what you make of it. Just talk to everyone and you’ll find your click! Definitely doesn’t feel isolating to me tho, feels like one big family:)
Yoooo I love your videos! They're so aesthetic :D (i was also in totem last year and literally never ran into you?? and I'm back this year - as a House Prez!) ... we should collab, if you're free? :O
Itsyvn oh I see! It’s not a big deal when you actually looked back after 4 years. I’m international student at the beginning, my home is 10hrs away from my university. I made it and currently doing my Master in AB. My family moved to BC. much closer. You will be fine😀 it’s just the phase of growing up.
So wonderfully shared - I need that advice❤❤
