6000 years, Belgrade was Razed to the Ground and Rebuild 44 times in it Shitstory, And has been fought over in approximately

Starbucks is new and has plans to expand as far as I know. But yes, a lot of Serbs don't like it that much, we think our own coffee is better ;)

I also think that your coffee is better. Actually, I usually buy Grand kafa in a shop here in Sweden. Next time in Serbia I will get myself a nice džezva.

Guys love that you did a spot on street food in Serbia, butttt wish you had tried their real traditional food, it is fantastic! have visited Belgrade through work a few times, amazing & beautiful city, the ppl are awesome. Then this drink they call 'rakia' it's like rocket fuel ! :) Thx guys, Serbia definitely thumbs up

Yes, those are cheese crumbs in proja. When I saw corn bread in USA, I was delighted and jump into it, but then almost puked as it was sweet and did not taste anything like proja. Proja rocks! (Especially when paired with sarma or podvarak). 👍

Also visit Kopaonik in Serbia, its the tallest mountain in Serbia and its really fun there.
Starbucks is not liked because a lot of us are used to places like Greenet and other local cafes that sell coffee that is much more to our taste.

Its called New Year to us we have christmas in january a long with other orthodox.
I love how we here in Serbia have similar concepts in terms of food, but excecuted very differently. The Proja you tried is basically corn bread, but with cheese, as you said, and depending on how its made it can be dry and grainy (like the one you had) which some people like, or like my mom makes it, warm moist and fluffy, and its much better. The hot dog you had was very similar to a brittish sausage roll, but with hot dogs instead of sausage, and sometimes with mustard inside. Again there are dry pastries, but the absolute best ones are the fluffy, buttery, melt in your mouth pastry hot dogs (Rol Viršla we call them btw). And with the apple pie, we have the same flavour combinations with the apple, cinnamon and vanilla, the only difference being we use filo pastry instead of pie dough, or we put it in a cakey pie we call Lenja Pita (lazy pie).
But with all that, I really advise you try the cuisine, the traditional dishes in Serbia are meaty, hearty, rich, and all in all to die for!

I mean i know little bit chines but imas u njemu dosta tih tonskih komplikacija gdje isti izrazaj sa drugacijim akcenotm i duzinom trajanja rijeci promjeni smisao izgovorenog, kineski je previse ali kad bi imali nekog stvarno da zna dobro i kineski i srpski naucio bi ga kroz 1godinu, mislim stvari koje se uglavnom upotrebljuju jer jezik ucis zbog potrebe prva potreba je im hungru xD thats how all is start :'D

You had to find kaymak, ayvar, slanina and to eat pljeskavica! Regarding bakery, try next time oily burek with cheese and all sorts of pies, or strudla! These are true Serbian junk food and I believe you would like it much more!

In Užice you can find something called "komplet lepinja" and its something really good to eat. Not everyday cuz it have so much calories.
Hardly any ex-Yugoslavian country even *has* Starbucks, because coffee isn’t just something you have quickly in only a few minutes time here. Coffee is a way to socialize and meet up with friends here. We don’t just spend half an hour at a café, we spend whole afternoons in cafés sometimes. The staff also doesn’t try to kick us out or suggest that it’s time for us to leave, no matter how long we’ve been there. That, and we also don’t really like coffee that doesn’t taste like coffee, unless it’s, like, instant cappuccino. All we need is the coffee, some milk and some sugar. We don’t need all the shit Starbucks puts in their “coffee.” And Starbucks’ prices are also *way* too expensive for what they give you. Coffee really means something to us; most people from ex-Yugoslavian countries don’t even have coffee makers at home. We use special coffee pots called ‘džezva’ to make it at home. The only place you’ll really frequently see coffee makers are cafés. We just treat and see coffee very differently from how Americans see and treat it.
