    I remember 6abc in Philly tried to change it in the early 2000s, and so many pissed off people called the station that they changed it back.

      You don’t change things that work. It will always be part of WPVI.

      It was in 1996 and yes, it was a hot mess 😂😂. They changed it back in 3 days 😂. Philadelphians spoke and they listened!

      WNEP kept this, even though they're owned by Tegna since 2020

    In NYC, this was WPIX-TV Channel 11 (aka "11 Alive") Action News theme during the 1970s which evolved into the Independent Network News (aka "INN") in the 1980s. More recently, it's Kaity Tong's domain.

      Malpass and Murphy are now both retired. Williams and Tynan are still going strong at 11:00 pm.

    Jan Carson at KTRK?? That was a LONG time ago, pre-1985, because I always saw her on KPRC Channel 2, the NBC affiliate!

    WSM-TV (now WSMV) in Nashville used it, and so did WHAS-TV in Louisville. WHAS examples are available on RUclips.

      Also used in the early to mid 70’s during the WIIC years for NewsWatch and Instant News. It’d be nice to bring it back with the NBC chimes mixed in.

    This song belongs to 6abc, WPVI, Philadelphia and Jim Gardner. No one else should ever be able to use this song again.

      KFSN in Fresno was a Capital Cities Station, which was acquired by Disney. To this day, KFSN is a Disney O&O.

    The theme song should be retired as the official Jim Gardner song since it appears as if it has been associated with him the longest.

      Philly went bats in 1995 when WPVI-TV altered the theme. The rearranged theme lasted just 5 days. It would probably kill the ratings.

    I called WNEP’s talkback thing from Philly hoping that they eventually get rid of it. It’s annoying af and it’s been associated with Jim Gardner the longest. Basically in other words it gotta go.

      WPVI-TV still uses it. Gardner retired on December 21, 2022.
