Huell reappears for another episode of California Gold. The episode was taped in 1996 and sent to edit. However, it was never completed and ended up, incomplete, among his personal papers and tapes left to Chapman College in Chapman, California. This edit was complied by the College and taken from the original tapes. Once complied it was released to the public in 2016. No one knows why the original tape wasn't edited back when taped but, so far, at least one episode of Huell has materialized for us to enjoy.
Great episode, but not quite authentic without "this series is endorsed by the California Teachers Association, The California School Board Association, aaaaand the California Library Association..." Anyway, please make more!
+BurritoFueled Haha. True! It is very rare to find any unused footage from any of his shows. We got extremely lucky and worked quite hard to bring this one episode to light. Stay tuned though, we are constantly resurfacing episodes that we find from the Visiting series on RUclips, Roku and AppleTV as well as on air in Southern California.
+KCETOnline Was totally giving you a hard time about the endorsements, btw. Great job with the whole thing! Wonder why he never used the footage? The subject was quite interesting. Also, can you please upload more existing eps of Visiting? I'm in Northern California, so they're all new to me! ;)
@KCETOnline please put up the episode of the Grand Central Market in the 90's to remind people that there was a great community there before the gentry bout it out.

According the recording engineer in the wax cylinder recording segment, this was taped on July 13, 1998.
Love Huell Howser and California Gold. Visiting and photographing the Lummis house in 1961 is one of my earliest memories when I was 5.
So uplifting that young people can connect so beautifully with history.
What a Lovely Episode, 1998 i was 17 when this came out, very interesting Episode and wow that girl that did the Recording was Beautiful :)
That was so special. I've been on the property, but never inside the house. And the recording session was a treat.
I have never heard or seen anything like this. WoW!
Very cool house, I just happened to be biking by one day. Conveniently located across Figueroa from Taco Fiesta.
Thanks so much for sharing...!
RIP
Huell Howser

@@PBSSoCal I really want to know what happened on the Koko the gorilla shoot. Those tapes really destroyed?
what was the name of the song they recorded?
Both recordings of the same song "The Woman From Sinaloa" (English)
When was this recorded? I'm guessing late 90's - 2000?
+Steve Smith Probably late 90s based on his appearance and the aspect ratio. Our website editor is confident in saying 1998.
The recording guy says 1998 when they start the wax recording....
the 1880s .
July 13, 1998.

Hey I met Huell, hey I am going to be on Californias Gold!! LIAR!! 18 years later.... see!
He went to some very interesting places. However his presentation was so corny that it is almost unwatchable.
Weirdo, yr corny and a hater
Never in my life as an Angelino has anybody ever said a derogatory comment about Huel it was his quirkiness that made him special we truly miss him.
