  • We tear down the ebay turbo CRX to refresh it for it's next big step up in power. The ebay turbo broke apart so we've replaced it with a Precision 6262 and a new manifold. Stay tuned fo this epic build!

    I have made 220 WHP (~9psi) on my 100% bone stock D16Z6 for the last 12 years, absolutely nothing broken.

      @@vtec3070 most people don't tune with 2 separate cam profiles, basically VTEC is always "on". Makes it easier

      230whp is attainable on a stock z6 single cam with a bigger turbo.
      I used to run my stock ZC dual cam D series on 15 psi lol. Only mods were 450cc injectors, 6 puck clutch, turboedit, and proper crankcase ventilation routing. Made my own manifold out of HF manifold and adapter plate. Hardest part was downpipe and getting a bung put on the oil pan lol. I actually just went to the industrial area in my city and asked people to help me make the stuff for $20 bucks lol.

    That's a perfect combo for the street. My dream build right there. Maybe a little less power like 400 or 450. Awesome cars guys.

    10 years ago me and my brother built a vitara piston and eagle rod d16 had it tuned at speed factory. Back then us and the shop was not sure about the cast pistons. James tuned it to 15psi and it held great. Now its crazy to see how hard people push them.

    Love the D16.
    Throw in some suzuki vitara pistons and rods, got you a strong bottom end for cheap.
    So underestimated. Great motor.

      D'z Garage for this power I would recommend drilling and taping to accommodate larger Studs. Keeping a gasket sealed in anything over 25 psi is problematic. You can use different gaskets, but real additional clamping power is what you need.

      Okay, I know this is old but why go from a dohc very sought after engine to a single cam? Because they're easier to find? Because I know that h22's can make power easier!

    I'm curious about what transmission this build is running and how it holds up to this much power. I'm guessing it runs on stock axles? Which clutch is holding that much power?

    Guys what solutions do you have for preventing head lifting on the D series I have a build d16y8 arias forged pistons Manley rods no block guard.. Arp head studs torqued to 60ft/lb car made 340hp/277trq @18psi @20psi I suspect the head started to lift as it started pushing coolant timing was also very conservative... Any solutions? How much trq do u guys apply to the arp bolts? Should I retorque the head or change the gasket.. Car never over heated either.. Any an all help appreciated

    Should I swap my z6 from my daily into my wagon or buy a d15b non VTEC? The d15b I can get for 600 and if I swap the z6 I can get a custom harness plug and play for 390. Also the z6 was just rebuilt less than 10k on it.

    The reason you don't want to use a single cam for a high boost application is because if you put all that pressure to 1 cam instead of dividing the job into two cams you can snap that camshaft in two parts or more specifically to small camshaft that only one rotate and that's why I do cam is more efficient because you're not putting all the stress on One cam you can make more power without worry that you're going to snap a cam in half it takes some strong metal to do one cam

      Adam Honda98 not sure what your idea of high boost is, but my single cam non VTEC motor is on 25 psi on E85 and it's not snapping anything but the necks of V8 guys and Porsche guys and BMW guys and Corvette guys when I blow their doors off.

      Wtf? I’ve built plenty of D-series engines and never had a camshaft break. Sounds like you need to go back to engine class.

    I have a turbo d16z6 in my CRX, with upgraded internals, and the only thing left stock, are the ‘rocker arms’. (Not sure if that’s the correct term?) But the contact pads were worn, and I replaced them with oem parts.Did you guys use upgraded rocker arms? If so, I’d like to know who sells those after market rocker arms.

    Can you roll in fresh bearings while it's in the car on a d16? How often do you freshen it at this power level?

    chamfer the main bearings so it doesn't lose oil pressure that's why the single cams spin main bearings when you turbo them lol

    thanks for motivation im starting to build d16 turbo but i was thinkin about b series too but i think i cant afford it looking at the prices of good shape b series and boostin it i prefer to make the same power of a sohc and if it brakes u can always buy another one. In my country there is not too much b series but d is rly cheap and eaasy to get

    What compression pistons are you using? My b16 turbo blew the sleeve on the dyno at 400 hp with cp 9:1 pistons, I did not have a block guard

      We run 10:1 in everything boosted. Vitara pistons are lower compression though, this motor was built by someone else.

    What skunk2 cam are you running? Amazon sent me a tuner2 cam by mistake… is that ok to run with a turbo? A lot of guys are telling me the valve overlap will mess with the turbo building boost.

    On the next episode could you do a 5 minute break down what’s the preferred crank. or what to do for proper oiling if you stay obd2. I want to build the most reliable Frankenstein out of a d16y7 w/ css. Z6 crank/Head or stay y8.
