    How do you know if you are a poor methylator, good, or somewhere in between. Is there a blood panel or something that concretely identifies this.

      A genetic test is needed (23andMe)

      MTHFR is the main thing to check for methylation.

    Poor methylation applies to alcohol and caffeine too

      Moderate exercise but enough to make you sweat, sweat removes cortisol from the body , and as we know cortisol is highly inflammatory, something we don’t won’t . Best of health .

    As far as I know, I am a poor methylator, based on the fact that my homocysteine is high if I do not take B complex. But I have taken the 23andMe genetic test, and it says that of two variants, I have neither. So, I continue to take methylated B vitamins. Comment?

    I have no idea what this is but would like to know!

    I was told by my Vascular surgeon in 2003, that Folic acid reduces homocysteine . 400ugram daily would do it.

      Look at all the B vitamins together.

    @PrevMedHealth: Dr. Ford Brewer, for methylated complex do you mean the L-5-Methyltetrahydrofolate?

    • @CaptainDave05
      @CaptainDave05 11 месяцев назад +2

      That’s one of the most common B vitamins in a methylated complex, and a complex usually includes a few more. Looking at the homocysteine cycle it appears methylated B6, B12, and Folate are the important B vitamins, so I’d look for a complex that at least has those. Look at the ingredients of Thorne’s Methyl Guard that Brewer mentions, it has those three plus TMG, which is also excellent.

    I saw b3 helped uptake of methylators, so makes sense to help tmg uptake or need for methylators

    Does supplementing with Niacinamide also cause a problem for under methylators?

    • @Leoninmiami
      @Leoninmiami 9 месяцев назад

      the "Niacin" term is often used for both Niacinamide (Niacin without Flush) and Nicotinic Acid (Niacin w/ Flush ) judging by the picture shown, he was referring to Nicotinic acid
