Nick can’t catch a break lol ! He turned his low rider into an S model - then Harley comes out with it from the factory. Then he turned his new low rider S into an ST and then Harley comes out with one from the factory! They need to give him a consulting job in Milwaukee- dude is ahead of the curve
👊
👎 In my shipyard days I bet I sprayed 10,000 gallons of Navy haze grey, so yuck! A fast bike should have fast colors!
Your content is so high quality and well shot in combination with the ENTIRE laidlaw team is legendary. You all are amazing together.
Definitely looks like a family I would strive to be in👊💀
Much love and with the upmost respect ✊

Matt Laidlaw....Best Harley Videos on RUclips... Buy this bike...you'll love it... I know.... I have one.... Come ride with us in Arizona
There’s so many aspects I love of this bike but the raised rear suspension, 117, and a 28° rake make it truly a superb machine that does everything. It looks beautiful, handles well, and can be ridden hard.
Love the whole Laidlaw crew!! Great job to all!!
We love you. Thanks for watching
I don't understand why Harley didn't put that single instrument gauge on the ST. Really don't like that digital bar set up.
All the info and feedback that anyone could need. Awesome job guys.
Ride safe from Sydney Australia
🤘🤘🤘
Thanks Kevin. From Australia! Very cool. I hope to ride on that continent one day
Nick, Matt and Andy, the Harley biker boyz! Lol.
Thanks for the video. Wish the fat bob had a 5 gal tank… the 5 gal tank on the lrs is the difference maker for me.
Love this channel, just picked up my first HD, a 2022 Low Rider S. The M8 117 rocks. The gunship grey is beautiful. Heavy credit to Matt and the crew for making comprehensive and detailed review of all these bikes. I've been a Triumph guy most of my life, the new Low Rider S shows HDs willingness to evolve and adapt new tech while keeping it classic.
How much is the monthly payment bro ?
🛑🛑 Great Video Matt. You guys always do I nice job. 👍
I’m still a bit upset as a CVO Owner that the 117 is installed in the Low Rider S.
I think that the CVO Bikes should “stand alone”, when paying a premium price in all respects for that model year. 💯
The CVO’s should have gotten an “engine bump” before the 117 was made available to the rest of the Harley Fleet. 🤷♂️
I hope we have a Great Riding Season here in the East, and would someday like to get an opportunity to ride in your area, and have you guys show me all the cool sites I have seen you guys ride to, on your channel. 😀👍
Thanks Again To Your Team, For A Great Video😀👍
Fair criticism. The CVO has become a lot more than the engine size. The buyer is someone that values more than a big motor. There is so much extra stuff on those bikes.
@@MattLaidlaw
Agreed….but since the inception of the CVO Line, they were the leader when it came to “out of the factory, off the production line horsepower”. 💯
fxlrs keeps the 117 and cvo should of had a 131 why take away from the fxlrs to make the cvo better i prefer bumping both up vs dumbing one down
@@genekelley7579 TBH when the S-line appeared in the fall of 2015 the Slim and Fat Boy first, and the Low RIder in first quarter 2016 they all had the 110ci TwinCam engine bump, which was the same as the CVO of the time. The S was introduced as a more powerful Screamin Eagle series, with some exclusive details, for example the Green army paintwork of the Slim S is still very much sought. That three model series which lasted two years today is survived by its most successful model, which climbed to legendary status. I think CVO has become more about paint and graphic details since some years. While the S series and now the ST as Sports Touring is more about sportier details.
Thanx but way too small the bike not me. Why o why HD have you made these bikes (ST) so cramped is beyond me.
This. All the softails are too small and I’m only 6”0. Only a Wide Glide or a touring chassis is big enough for comfort for me
@@JonAtack Yes mate its true i am 6" 3 got a breakout 114 just about fits with 14 inch z bars etc... bought myself the PAS still waiting.
CVO guys are highly upset right now 😂 FXLRS is King
Ok fine I want one.
Rode the LRS117 on Tuesday (8th feb).
The demo had a stage one, cobra 2into1, other than that completely stock. It was between this and a Diavel 1260. Love the look of the LRS, just wanted to see how it rode compared to the Ducati.
Positives - Pulls so hard, fantastic power. Gear box really nice, real smooth. Suspension is compliant and ride quality very good. Lean angle is pretty good, you can lean it over without too much fear. New position of the speedo is fantastic and looks cool as. Bike sounded epic with the cobra pipe.
Negatives - Doesn't transition side to side as good as I had hoped. It wasn't bad, just not super agile, the RKS is actually easier to transition side to side. Brakes are no comparison to the Brembo's.
The seat is ok but the footpegs had my knees above my hips which became a little uncomfortable. Lower back was sore after 40 minutes. Forwards wont work with the new breather, so either change the breather and get forwards or get a higher seat.
The bike was really good overall but not great for me. I bought a Ducati Diavel 1260 the next day.
I currently have a 2020 Street Bob and I'm considering trading it for the new lowrider s or a Ducati diavel. What was it about the Diablo that made you ultimately choose it over the low rider s? Is it noticeably quicker, particularly off the line and at highway passing speeds.
@@stevepovilaitis1785 G'day Steve. The Diavel is comfortably quicker of the line and overtakes. Off the line it's the fastest bike I've ridden, with 0-100 in 2.5 seconds.
It's definitely more comfortable stock and handles and brakes far better. The lean angle is 41 degrees compared to 31 on the LRS117. It steers quicker as well. Both bikes sound great with aftermarket exhausts. I think the Diavel is a better riding experience and subjectively better looking.
They are a similar price with exhaust added.
Did Harley Davidson thank you for the flrst idea and groundwork? That is your bike, as far as I see it. Congratulations on being able to see your idea come to fruition.
I'm thinking this is the way Harley Davidson needed to go. The Lowrider S is not necessarily a target market for me or even allot of buyers my age. They need a performance bike at a reasonable price for the new or newer riders that were looking for a Harley Davidson that just wasn't there. I'm glad to see they're going the right direction. If I were 10 or 15 years younger I would be looking. Thanks for the look. As always you did a top shelf review!
Fully agree. The mid pegs on the Standards and S Bobs are WAYY uncomfortable. This bike is what all Mid price bikes should be like
Agreed. Thanks for the comment
🎉Good crew, fresh video, great job 🌞 Love and Greetings from Baku Azerbaijan🇦🇿
I love the Laidlaw crews, Matt you are so calming in your presentation .
I love the Low Rider S, but Im still waiting for the chrome version to come out, so bummed Harley did not offer it as an option.
I have the standard low rider chromed, love it love it, get so many compliments! Just got back from Daytona bike week, talked to Harley at there displays, told him I would buy the Low Rider ST on the spot if he can get me a chrome version, he said he’s had a ton of people ask why no chrome version, he said he plans on passing that info along to Harley.
Great video guys. Spot on!
Love the Low Rider. That ST is really appealing but I’d have to make it fit me with forward controls and a better fit seat.
Harley-Davidson could have designed the Center console to be more useful. A compartment to just keep a phone or paperwork would have been better…
Does it do anything?
@@ihateemael good question and I don’t understand that spine on the tank and if anything it doesn’t allow you one to use any aftermarket tank bags.In my thoughts it should have kept clean. Also that long fenders on the low rider can reduce by 2-3 inch in length and sides reduce by 1 inch ( the rear fenders look big and doesn’t align with the front end in my eyes).
I'm trying to decide between the new Chief sport and the low rider S
Took the low rider S for a test ride last week and it was pretty nice. I tested a chief Bobber today with a 116 today and man that 116 was explosive! The TQ was really strong from 2-4k Rpms
Can't decide yet, There both awesome!
the sport chief is the better bike for sure
I subscribed to this channel because i like Matt's reviews, not into hearing anyone else. These other guys don't have the same vibe.
Matt I watched this video and later that day test rode the 22 LRS… I feel the bike had everything going for it but missing the fun factor, hard to put into words but I had no real negatives other than I got back off the bike and just didn’t feel that excitement I was hoping for.
I think they have gone too far with smoothing out the ride, honestly it felt like a generic metric bike… at a light I saw/felt zero vibrations… but between 3-3.5k it was buzz city in the bars, seat and pegs… that is as you mentioned the sweet spot in the power band, so riding that bike for hours? Personally no way.
I have been a RGU/RGL guy and also have an M109R.. I’ve wanted a light/powerful HD and was hoping this would be the one but it just didn’t feel right… I’m sure I’m in the minority but just wanted to share my thoughts as your video inspired me to go out and test ride the bike 🍻
The Laidlaw's crew Killin it almost like a softail with a 117
Haha. We continually try to be the Low Rider S of the HD RUclips world.
Grabbing one in a few months. Not that ST version though 🤮
I don't like the ST version either. Just plain ugly to me.
When did the Fat Bob get the 28 degree front end rake and rear suspension? You mentioned the Low Rider S got them in 2022? Has the Fat Bob always had the 28 degree front end rake and rear shock?
Yes it has. Since 2018.
@@MattLaidlaw Thanks. Good to know.
Matt coming out of the gate with the opinion that essentially smacks of "the 117 should be gatekept for those willing to spend more money. It shouldn't be available on a bike so cheap". Is HD gatekeeping at its finest.
I just bought a Low Rider S. Its my second Harley, but before, all I owned is sportbikes. I'm a "motorcycle enthusiast". Over my 25 years of riding, I've met plenty of fellow enthusiasts on Harleys. But you come off as the other type. The elitist. The exact ones that kept me from Harley for so long.
No wonder the brand is dying.
I was pretty much set on the new Nightster, but this review may have changed my mind. Maybe I should go for a traditional HD in form of the Low Rider S. I'm planning to use the bike in the summer months to commute to work (about 10 km / 6,25 miles) and to get to our cabin up in the mountains (180 km / 112,5 miles). With Nightster I'l get new tech, with the Low Rider S I'll get what HD is all about. Money is not an issue, as I palnning to keep the bike for 10-15 years. Though choice. What would you choose?
Thank you Andrew for saying what we all want to say about dynas!
Another great video from you and your team. The detailed content is so much better than everyone else.
Thank you!
How do I get one of those gray Laidlaw’s hats!?!? You didn’t have those when I rode from Ohio to California in 2020!!
Sorry, but the street bob looks cheap compared to thr LRS. LRS looks rich and substantial . I have one and someone at the corner store has a SB. When I pull up next to it, the SB pales in it's presence.
My favorite color for the low rider s by far is the silver offered in 2020
I love the mid-foot controls. More comfortable for a shorter rider.
I like the LowRider S and have considered getting one. I don't like the grey at all. I would definitely have to get the black. I like that they moved the gauge, but don't like the digital speedometer. At this price I also think they should have put passenger pegs and some type of seat for a passenger especially since they put in the longer shock. I can't stand the look of the ST model and would go for the S version over that. Great video showing all the differences between the models.
This dude rubs me completely wrong!
Thanks Matt and Team! Long time since your last video. I look forward to you next ones!

No. It’s electronically governed at like 115 MPH

Thanks for the reply as another dealer here on You Tube when I asked said Harley is using a special oil and they do not provide a rain sock as it is not needed anymore for that air filter. Also if you look up that filter in the Harley parts page, they offer no rain sock and other people were concerned also so this is why I asked. Here is the answer from Doc Harley, ''Yes that is what HD is posting...Doc''
I am about 5,8 195 is this bike too heavy for me?
What changes / parts would you guys suggest to increase the lean angle of the Low Rider S 117 by 4 or 5 degrees (to get it to 35 or 36 degrees)? Thanks a lot.
That’s a big increase. You have to change the pegs to something higher. You’re gonna hit the primary though
Looks like they copied the yamaha bolt
The Low Raider S gets a 117?! RUFK me?! But the Heritage Classic comes with a 114? Worse! The Road King only gets a measly 107?!?! This is what pisses me off about Harley. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!
13:22 :"stock... beats everything out there"
Rocket 3R 221, Ducati XDiavelS, Vmax 1700 : " :-) in your dreams maybe "
8:38 : "sportsbike don't get anything until 9000rpm, still a cruiser" true but there are
hypernaked bikes like the Super Duke 1290 R (V-twin) and ZH2 supercharged, way lighter and almost same Nm torque as Low Rider S 117 engine, they pull way harder and accelerate way harder. The Low Rider S is my favourite HD-bike, i hope they will put the 150hp revolution max engine in it, put dual M50 Brembo Stylema brakes, Öhlins 2.0 suspension, up and down quickshifter, 6 axis IMU, TFT dashboard like Indian Dark Horse and raise the foot pegs and the suspension a bit more for more side angle to make it a kind of Low Rider RS (color options : black/red accents or black/gold accents or Easy Rider Dyna US flag factory colors or Willie G flaming skull paint job on the side)
A 25k sporty HD Low Rider
Excellent work guys, as always. Really looking forward to seeing the LRST review. My devious mind has me wondering whether the LRST gauge and FXRT style fairing would fit on the RKS.
I don't see why not. Unless the triple tree spacing is different. I should probably know that. I think the new H-D FXRT Fairing will be a challenge to fit but we've done it with plenty of aftermarket.
@@MattLaidlaw Damn it Matt! Couldn't you have just said it's not worth my time or money? Why you gotta tempt me like that?! 😂
Wow..... I was thinking of the Street Bob 114 my only complaint is the 3.5 tank. If the Low Rider S 117 I'm lookin around 2023 buying a 2022 LRS 117. Hopefully I'll find a good deal.
The best thing to do to this bike is change the exhaust and put forward control's .... if you think the bike is good, change them and the bike is 1000 time's better 😉
would the ST bags fit on the standard low 2022 Low Rider S? Or would it require some sort of modification?
Great review by everyone !!! Nick was spot on about the Fat Boy. Its all about the looks and that ist why I chose it over the other softails !!!
THANKS as always to Laidlaw's for honest, comprehensive reviews. !!!
Fatboy is arguably the best looking Harley money can buy.
The Fat boy is a beautiful machine. Enjoy man
So I asked Doc Harley about the NO MORE RAIN SOCK NEEDED this question ''I noticed that the ST models with the Hi Flow air filter do not come with rain socks anymore. Are they now made so riding in the rain is OK and water will not get inside the breather? Another dealer here on You Tube when I asked said Harley is using a special oil and they do not provide a rain sock as it is not needed anymore for that air filter. Also if you look up that filter in the Harley parts page, they offer no rain sock and other people were concerned also so this is why I asked.'' His answer is ''Yes that is what HD is posting...Doc''
Love the bike - I want one !! but HATE the Gunshit Grey.. Looks like primer before color added. Bring back the Silver or the Fat Boy Blue and I'll buy one..
That gunship grey 😍 👌. Great in depth video as always Matt
Thank you!
Matt can we order or can your shop get us the new hockey puck infotainment gage on the LR ST instead of the mini Casio watch lcd display don't want to have to wear my reading glasses just to ride?!
That grey color is already starting to look old. It’s everywhere right now. No way it will last into next years models I reckon. Could be wrong 😑 just my opinion 🙃🙃🙃
PLASTIC CAM CHAIN TENSIONER!!
long distance get a touring frame. Ill do 300 miles on my Low Rider S but thats about it. My Road King ill ride all day like sitting on a couch. Get off to put gas in it and eat.
hey, will the fatbob headlight fit on the low rider s? Low rider s has more bang for your buck with the 117, 5 gallon tank etc, but I like the look of the new fatbob headlight, trying to get best of both worlds. I know you can put a 5 gallon tank on the fat bob for a cost, just wondering which way to go would be easier / cheaper.
I'm glad you brought up how Harley is shitting on the CVO. Same engine size as the lower rider S. They removed the lowers that had speakers in them a few years ago. Look at the Street and Road Glide they took off the heal shifter about a year or two ago. It is very strange they are upgrading things like the Low Rider S and shitting on their classic brands. It is great for the low rider S for sure, it's a great bike... but Harley is screwing up with all it's OG's.
Are the Low Rider S controls forward-controls or mid-controls? They look like mid. Would this bike be a good fit for a 5'8'' rider?
Eh si, ragazzi, l'ammortizzatore serve a quello! Ad ammortizzare!
Una grande conquista per harley davidson! 😂
Well, a friend of mine got a ticket for 100 mph on his S. He was getting on the freeway and a cop was sitting in one of their hiding places. He didn't get cut any slack and said he didn't mouth off.
His only complaint is that he can't carry anything as it sits.
Don’t worry about Low Rider S having CVO power…..it just mean I CAN BUY ONE! And you know…there’s no substitute for cubic inches!
What are you guys giving for 2017 FXDLS’? Your video got me thinking hard about pulling the trigger. Even willing to ride down from the Bay Area and trade mine in.
117 on a Lowrider S awesome.
CVO with a 117? Really!!!
Made me second guess pushing the button on a CVO. Gonna wait and see what they do for the 2023 model year.

The reviews are always great! The 22 FXLRS is okay. I'm still in love with my 21 RGS. I will take a 22 FXLRS for a canyon challenge. Let's do a video of it, Angeles Crest Highway . Now, the 22 RG ST I'm trying not to trade my bike in 😢 for👌
Whilst I agree that having the gauges up where you can see them is good especially if your speed is maybe a bit too near the speed limit and you have a cop on your arse, anyone who changes gear due to what the tacho/speedo is showing isn't 'in touch' with the bike/road at all.
I rarely check gauges as I know by the road speed and engine revs ( feel/noise) what is going on. After 40+ years of riding and driving all sorts of things I KNOW what speed I am doing......
I love it!! I can't wait to see a 2 to 1 exhaust and aftermarket cams. Especially the newer Woods cam 22xe. I really wish Harley would offer more options for wheels and colors. Gun metal grey or dark grey the current military aircraft use. And the bullet faring is more effective on the highway
انا من العراق دزولي وحده بارك الله فيكم
Finally bit the bullet and traded in my '18 Fat Bob for a '22 LRS. Every time I'd see an LRS pass by, I'd do a double take, it's such a classic looking bike (was not offered in '18, otherwise I would have bought it then). It's at dealer now getting a Stage III and Bassani Radial Sweepers exhaust.
I’m an old guy on a Ultra but that Low Rider ST would make a fantastic second bike when you don’t want to sling the weight around on technical rides along PCH and the mountains of Nor CA.
Is Nick's badge upside down? Or is it my TV? HAHAHAH.....Nice vídeo, as always!!!!
I know the motor company thinks it's a great thing that they've made the low rider taller. But for those of us with short legs, that kind of negates the advantage of it being, well, LOW. Is it possible to install a shorter shock that would make the low rider S lower again? Particularly the ST model.
this and st are only about two steps shy of perfection: 2into1 and lower profile intake.... 2023?
We are in need of good dealership in my area. Gaithersburg, Maryland. The one we have here is a satellite dealer, so it doesn't compare to full HD dealership.
I can’t wait for my FXLRST to come it! This is the closest I can come to content on the bike but honestly if it wasn’t for the ST model this would be my number one bike this year.
Matt, thanks again for the quick response! I picked up my '22 Low Rider S last month in Las Vegas but I was ready to come grab one from you. Love the content and reviews, keep 'em comin.
It's not like the 107 wouldn't be enough for the softail standard, but man, I would love to see that model updated, too. As a matter of fact, merge the standard and the street bob and call it a street bob classic with the black and chrome color scheme. Personally, I don't understand why people compare the low rider s to the softail standard and the street bob, when they're clearly 2 different styles.
Harley is going to sell a lot of forward control kits for this bike. I sat on one and it definitely needs forward controls.
An absolute killer softail, Harley has copped a lot of shit over the last couple of years but the new bikes will put a stop to that. My 2018 heritage classic might be for sale soon. Cheers from Melbourne Aust. 👍👍👍
I think you would need the extra suspension on those rutted roads. How much weight would you save with a Borsani 2 into 1? I'd prefer this over a Sportster S from a comfort /suspension viewpoint.
That's more than double the torque and horsepower of the Yamaha Bolt which I currently have.
