"No bots. No Ddos. Just Wutville." Is my new catchphrase.
“Just Wutville” sounds terrifying for some reason
Just to remind everyone, don't hate on the map creator, hate on Valve.
Dude just made a map for fun, probably never expecting it would end up in the game and Valve decided that it complements effect of their drugs nicely.
Are we just going to ignore the fact the Map Creator did make a shitty map regardless? Yeah Valve is at fault for the absolute retardation of picking the Map but Valve still wasn't the one who made the end product.
@@linhero797tons of people make bad maps, I've made bad maps, I don't expect Valve to put them in the game
@@itstherealbrace6424 Yes. And valve is at fault for doing so. But they still are not at fault for the shitty quality of the map itself. The creator is.
Valve is at fault for the terrible choice of Wutville. Not the terrible quality of Wutville.
@@linhero797 actually they likely are also at fault for the quality because they didn't even give the creator any time to actually make it quality
@@Scruffy-qi3ik The map was made years ago, and was abandoned. Most of the issues with the map have been there for years. Yes Valve gave the creator 1 week to touch it up. But the main issues with Wutville at a surface level were just bad optimization.
Large chunks of the map were rendered when they weren't visible and such. Valve most likely didn't consider the Gameplay side and looked at the map on a technical level and that is why they gave the creator a week to fix it. Since most of the fixes for these issues weren't too hard to implement.
Valve still is shit for picking Wutville but the quality of Wutville is still the creators fault.
This map is a metaphor for how much valve cares about this game

Problem with fixing wutville ends up in not even a map remotely close to wutville. It's fundamentally flawed, especially with it's lack of "staging areas" and horrendous sniper sightlines. Really the only way of "fixing" the map is to remake it from the ground up

This is the kinda map that makes elaborate schemes to stop Christmas from coming
the kinda map to grin wider than its face
I actually love Wutville's concept. A child slavery-ridden sweatshop ruled by Old Nick, disguised as a Christmas village attraction. If the execution was solid, it could genuinely be THE Christmas map for TF2, working perfectly with it's lore. But sadly, the creator didn't have enough time to actually redo and finish this old map before valve decided to add it out of the blue.
Except that's likely not the concept at all because I'm 100% certain that the map creator did this map out of passion purely for the Grinch movie/cartoon because if you look at how Whoville in the movie/cartoon looks you would probably be some familiarities with how the map looks, just the names alone should be easy to realize where the inspiration for the map came from.

Glad to have been a part of your Danger Dolan stream and appreciating the pinnacle of map design with you.
Had a fun time playing on Wutville when there were three guys who all had their names as the ghost of Wutville’s past, present, and future.
If I recall correctly, I don't think this map was even designed to be played like a normal map. I think the designer made it as solely an art project, and then Valve just up and puts it into TF2. I don't even think it was done iirc
That's likely how it was, I mean look at how the map looks and then look at Whoville from "How the grinch stole Christmas" plenty of ways to tell what inspired the map's appearance.
This map is actually so advanced that it limits your frames to 30 fps because it knows that the human eye can't see any higher

Not gonna lie, I low key love this map. It reminds me of old school custom maps. I’ve played this map a ton the past few days and the snipers you get in casual typically aren’t that big of an issue. This isn’t a serious map and shouldn’t be taken as such. My only real issue with this map is that payload doesn’t roll backwards at all.

The sight lines on this map are so bad a sniper hit me from the middle of the map as soon as I left spawn, it should be completely overhauled.
Wutville makes the Jim Carrey Grinch set look good. At least the washed out Beijing look doesn't make my eyes bleed figgy pudding and my mouth froth with whipped cream.
I was willing to defend this map's creator for the first 2 years, but the fact that they apparently STILL haven't got around to fixing stuff is just a tad frustrating...
Knowing valve they probably did fix it but valve forgot to actually update the ingame version of the map
According to other commetors apparently they did make a better version, and valve just, didn't use it?
I've heard previous people say he did fix it, but in typical valve fashion they just didn't implement it, which is strange, cause the creator of snakewater has frequently updated their map and valve kept implementing the changes for it

@@Subwega bro is the personification of the "unwanted commercial content or spam" report in youtube
It's a bad map, but it's a bad with a lot of personality, which makes it hard for me to hate it. I definitely prefer it over a certain lame reskin of a Halloween map we got last year.
The map creator made a silly little fanfiction map in a theme valve had never and seemingly never would include in TF2; christmas maps are an extremely new concept for stock TF2. Several years later, valve haphazardly plucked it from the workshop and the map creator had to scramble to meet valves' expectations. The map was so old, they had to dig to get the source files so they could edit it again. The map was never designed for the rigorous play of pubs, and they had little time to try and fix it. The creator wasn't even a dedicated mapper; they primarily made custom models, which is why the map is so horrendously optimized; they prefered making custom models over using brushes, the later of which makes up most normal maps and are well optimized by Source.
Anyone would be honored to have their work chosen by valve to be in the base game. It'd be insane not to follow up on that, not just because of royalty payments (which are a nice bonus), but because it's valve themselves. The map creator is purely innocent, they never intended to get anywhere close to this far, and likely expected the map to go forgotten (which it pretty much did, for several years). It's entirely on valve for picking it and letting it through; that was a dark time for TF2.
I was tuning into the streams and half the time you had “Sputnik gaming” on the screen

A lot of maps bafflingly have that same spawn room problem
Its been a long time since I've played any Christmas themed Holiday maps more than 7 years ago and I was genuinely surprised when I got into Wutville. I thought I got into a random trade server with all the bad textures and random highlights of the map sprawled all over the map. I didn't understand where tf I was going and why the map is so wide and long. Then I tabbed and checked and yep, this is an official map in the queue. Prolly the most headache inducing map I have ever played on the game and I have been to a lot of different map varieties of community trade servers and this is just madness in the form of an official map.
NASA probably rates their PCs with seconds before their pc just explodes when wutville is loaded in
that invisible ledge is so comically high, the creator must've just thought "hey, wouldn't it be funny if I added a random ledge here? It's not like anyone will find it lol"
Wutville is like if somebody thought about Christmas.
It's like a sandbox map, except in matchmaking. _At best_ you could put it under alternative game modes as official tdm.
