New world: Look at Cloud sword when he screams, “NO” also it looks like he went into a different world at that moment, you see a rainbow of light going up his sword and it’s glows green and you can see a green mist coming from his sword, it reminds me of what Rosa did to Alphreid sword during his fight in the loveless play. Watch as Cloud deflects Sephiroth sword you see rainbows like in the church and sleepy forest, remember the white whispers were with Aerith before her death. Watch how Sephiroth sword landed, it lands straight up. Cloud saves Aerith. Look at Aerith hair tie, it’s pink and it flashes back to the OG as the camera shows the Sephiroth sword, look at the angle of his sword, it is sideways, Aerith falls to her death, her purple hair tie falls out of her hair. Aerith hair tie, OG world it’s purple and pink in the new world? Cloud runs and holds Aerith body, you see flashes back and forth to the OG world she dies, he has tears and muttering words. OG world. As the others run, Tifa stops in her tracks, not because of Aerith’s death, it’s because she sees blood and no blood she doesn’t understand what is happening but she was in the lifestream. New world: Cloud lays Aerith on her back and he tells her I got this, look at the others they are standing still, not moving. OG world, pay attention. As Tifa runs towards Aerith she is laying on her side, remember Cloud lays on her back in the new world. As soon as you see Cloud boot, pause, zoom in, you still see Aerith laying on her side. New world: As Cloud approached Aerith is once again laying on her back, the whispers are flying around, Cloud walks through the whispers and the others disappear, he asks Aerith to wake up she does. Why do you think Sephiroth told Aerith, I must admit I underestimated you. And also why did they show Aerith hair tie it’s pink, look at her death scene again when she is praying and opens her eyes when she sees the feathers falling her hair tie is purple, when she falls to her death it is also purple. It was Aerith destiny to die in the OG world and she did, creating a new world means she can change her destiny and she did.

Every party member also comes to mourn her one by one, they don't just throw her in the water after she's been slashed lol.
It is in there but only a sneak since cloud is in denial of the tragedy and creates a new scenario in his head. This is good for the new players and kind of a bummer for the OG fans. They probably gonna save the whole scene when tifa helps cloud to collect his memories.

@@BlackCatsXVIIthat part was the hardest hitting part in the entire OG scene, and the fact that they took it off in the Remake just demonstrates how arrogant the Nomura/ Nojima/ Kitase trio is, thinking they could top that scene by chopping it off to make space to multiverses 'n stuff. Despite liking the Remake/ Rebirth changes when they improve the original, Aerith's death here is a huge L.
Technically it is... what Cloud saw in those moments WAS ANOTHER UNIVERSE, in which he saves Aertih But it seems that this was momentary, this means that in part 3 Cloud may possibly manage to go to another universe since he is already more That confirmed that there is more Cloud, I managed to be momentarily in his universe and the other universe in which Aerith does not die.
@@The_Doc5894They are going to throw all of us to a surprise in part 3 that in the end that universe Zack and Aerith and Biggs will come and join them. I think We will actually get a happy ending where our heroes who died live. Except for Jessie and Wedge.
everyone wants the big sad death and slow mo tears and orchestra. THe truth of the matter is cloud cant have those because of his delusions. I think they wanted to make people comong out of this confused because thats how cloud is. They will probably make this a big emotional beat in part 3 when he realizes the truth about where hes been, zack, and now aerith
We can even see the cloud of the classic version (1997) moving his mouth as if he's saying something at 6:09 there's where he says his dialogue "Aeris will no longer talk, cry... of get angry..." "what about us? what are we supposed to do?" "what about my pain?" "my fingers are tingling, my mouth is dry. my eyes are burning!"
I honestly prefer the original sequence of 1997, that was more emotional and impactant. This new sequence is so confuse and creates mores questions than anwers
yup, some people that never played the original will even take some time to notice she died, this entire portrayal on rebirth is confusing and dont show anything, the person in charge really fcked it up
the bit scary thing about the Remake timeline version is that the reason why we do not see the stab is only because we are seeing it from Cloud's perspective which currently he is complete denial so he made up this entire fake scenario where he did block it in his head strong enough that he actually believes it happened.
The scenario isn't fake. A new timeline emerged when he crossed the fate barrier. When the worlds merged cloud can see the aerith he saved. The aerith he's seeing is the aerith who kept on talking to him in advent children.
How do you reckon? Is it from her line that she’ll stop meteor? I do think cloud did actually stop sephiroth, what happened next I’m not sure. Either sephiroth or the whispers interfered to cause aerith to die. What we saw was cloud (and even tifa) simultaneously seeing different versions play out. Like quickly. Ultimately in the remake world, aerith is prob dead? And cloud can be argued to be going Through multiple issues: disassociation which he is prone to doing, seeing AERITH from an actual timeline, seeing an illusion by sephiroth (he Afterall believes the reunion is good which is exactly what sephiroth wants), like he isn’t completely insane (red did sense aerith). But he is also acting incredibly robotic and nonchalant; he tells his gang not to worry about the sky as he sees what’s going on, but he dosnt seem to think “why aren’t they worried?” He dosnt want to dwell on the fact that his aerith is GONE.
@@ropebunnii It's not exactly another timeline. More like, certain events in the story are creating new possible worlds. Zack's world is one of them. What happened to Aerith seems to be odd. Cloud did save her, but there was some potential interference. In fact, he seems to be overlapping in two different worlds for some reason. The crack in the sky is visible in Zack's world, which later becomes visible in Cloud's world, but only Cloud (And Aerith) can perceive it as being there. There's also the coma version of Cloud and Aerith in Zack's world. Not only this, but Biggs somehow managed to get into Zack's world. Maybe Coma Aerith in Zack's world will wake up soon? in the 3rd game maybe
The reason why we don’t see Aerith’s water burial is because we’re seeing everything from Cloud’s POV, and he genuinely thinks he saved Aerith from her death. Obviously she still did die based on the other characters’ emotions, I highly doubt they were that sad just because Sephiroth got away again. We’ll probably see what really happened when Cloud gets his real memories back in the 3rd game.
yeah. They changed this part a lot. In the OG FF7, he is still in illusion but when it came to Aeris' death, he realized that she really did die and accepted it. So he did the water burial. But in Rebirth, his illusion got like 10 times worse where he believes that he saved her lol
I remember playing this game back on PlayStation 1… I spent so much time grinding to get Aerith to be a strong healer/caster and then she just got killed off. I was crying!
It’s can be explained by a few of theses explanations: 1. Cloud is back into denial. Speaking with thinking or remembering. 2. In this moment multiple versions are playing out. Combined with his grief and shock it’s overwhelming.
we actually can see cloud hugging her saying something we can't hear at 6:00 there's where he says that! "my fingers are tingling. my mouth is dry. my eyes are burning!"
I just wish they seperate the scenes or make it like a last minute realization instead of mixing two scenes, mixing the illusion makes people confuse. And the water burial is iconic to be skipped
I suspect we'll see it properly in Part 3 during the Lifestream sequence, since Cloud is clearly repressing what actually happened here like he did with Zack's death. They'll probably move Zack's flashback over to the Lifestream sequence too, so that Tifa learns what happened to Zack and she can help Cloud work his way through Aerith's death in addition to piecing together all the other memory issues that were there in the original game.
The first part couldn't even get through the aftermath of the reactor mission without the creators blowing a Sephiload in their shorts. The writing has been on the wall since.
@gnelson7225well, there's the split sky thing, red feeling aerith, zack still alive and even sephieboi sayong he's merging words, so... yeah, it sounds like part 3 will just be a incomprehensible mess.
Original was brutal because before Aerith die the last real life interaction between Cloud and Aerith was Cloud beating the shit out of her when they got the black materia.
It was also more brutal cuz we didn’t know it was going to happen. This game came out before social media and the internet was in its early days so you don’t get spoiled.

I agree, they're so forced it's awful. I honestly even thought Remake was pretty decent, expect for the ending at the bridge with the dementors. Just seemed like odd filler
I think the original was much more simple, tragical, brutal and sad. I couldn't feel anything in the Rebirth because the scene was confusing like some sort of Kingdom Hearts experience.
Nomura wrote it, everybody at the company worships the guy and keeps giving him power, and he takes it and makes overly convoluted multiverse writing with it.

@moondoor9031 KH isnt confusing. How is that confusing seeing a bunch of teens k*lling eachother with keyblades same goes to that KH mobile game wherein everyone in the union, kids that got recruited, died.
I agree, '97 feels better and more touching with Aerith theme playing through all the Jenova fight. '24 Idk why they added all those Sephiroth's fights after it.
Men it's so disappointing to see Cloup parry Sephiroth's blade, to realize that "no no you're still screwed, I don't know how, but she's still wounded to death".
I think it's because it's through his POV and he is delusional in thinking he saved her. Him crying and the blood everywhere is what the reality is. He still thinks she's alive by the end too. We will probably see the actual scene in the 3rd game.
I personally really love the fake out. How, for a few moments, the player is left to believe she's okay and that cloud saved her -- only to be slapped in the face with the reality of what happened while watching him struggle in his self denial.
Yeah, they did everything perfectly, they managed to make her death surprising with all the "will we be able to save Aerith?" Marketing and this fake-out, and everything was going extremely well, untill they decided to throw the whole Zack and Cloud + Aerith's ghost vs Sephiroth Multiverse spectacle that completely fucked the scene. They should've kept things minimalistical and faithful as possible to the original in this moment even with the Cloud denial thing, even if it meant ending the game without an epic final boss, i doubt that people would be mad at it considering her death, everything would end in a less convoluted and more dark way.
I actually think they did an incomprehensibly bad job here. It’s kind of a fake out, but it’s also kind of not. Signs point to her actually still being alive in some alternate universe, and you have no time to mourn Aerith, because immediately after her “death” there’s a 10 phase boss battle. They honestly just said “how can we kill Aerith, and not kill Aerith” and went with that.
Rather than saying she's definitely dead like in the original, it seems like she's foreshadowing nuances such as being alive in a different universe or something like that. I guess we'll only find out once the final work comes out, but I'll still have to wait and see.
Presumably because they're integrating this into Cloud's impending breakdown at the Northern Crater, by showcasing that Cloud is repressing his memories of what actually happened here with Aerith the same way he previously did with Zack.
@@krkr120 And that’s what takes away from her death, knowing there’s another version of her alive and well. Classic multiverse crap that weakens any characters story.
@@incendiesproductions I understand the story from the original but you'd have no idea of what that was supposed to be without playing Final Fantasy 7 OG. I guess it makes sense when you look at the first installment in how it took pretty consistent plot points that were conveyed well in the original and stretched them out while also having the weird plot ghosts for no reason. Its like it can't choose whether it is a sequel or remake. You've played through the first game but to someone who hasn't, this is just a mess. I would find it hard to see what is left to wonder about for the next game unless I know about the events at the end of the original game.
The 1997 version of the scene is still a masterpiece, one of the greatest in video game history, but they had a chance to make it better, and they blew it bid time.
What? I think the new one was amazing, we already knew aerith will die, the new one just shows how fucked up cloud mind was, its making him go even crazier
nah u just dont get you dont get it all!, she was killed by the idea of being killed its SO OBVIOUS..... /s. talk about a massive monkeys paw imagine wanting an remake of ff7 and this is the shit you get
i take regarding your comment that you didn't play rebirth, and that explains why you wouldn't get what they're trying to do. it's completely confused, and that's the point! that's why it's so genius. everyone knows Aerith dies. some people wanted her to survive, and some wanted her to die. and what did they do? they gave something else (symbolized by the choices in the in-between worlds towards the end when you chose a candy or a necklace; Cloud wants this, Aerith wants that, and you'll get something else anyway). So what we got: no dramatic emotion-grabbing death, no heroic saving, but... confusion. we wanted the same emotions as 27 years ago, we wanted the relief of her surviving, and we got literally into Cloud's mind. that's what this remake is focusing on and developing, going in a depth that the OG hadn't reached : Cloud's fucked up mental state, going even more down. he feels confused, he's delusional and in denial. that's exactly how we felt, nothing was clear, and we weren't emotionally fed like we were in the og. we don't even see the legendary scene of Aerith's body going in the water! something's wrong. everyone knows something's wrong. the team sees something's wrong, and as for the full game, don't dare to say it. Cloud is breaking mentally. and guys i tell you, making such a decision in a world where drama and emotion grabbing are the main way to suck watchers from their time and investment, making such a decision knowing how important and anticipated this scene was, in a game with this much money invested in it, it had to take some balls. They know exactly what they're doing. They're trying to tell something, and they have an intention. that's something we miss in a lot of modern AAA games. whether we like it or not, seeing what they prepared next is exciting :)
Original Cloud: “Aerith is gone. She will never talk… never… never smile… cry… or get angry… ever again…” 2024 Rebirth Cloud: “lol Alright Aerith. I’ll see you later 🤪 “
2024 is meant to be different. They aren't making you revisit the original game. There's something going on and Cloud is either falling back into denial, or whatever memory issues that are occurring is that Cloud is able to communicate with Aerith's Ghost. I think in some capacity, in the convergence of fate; there is a timeline that Cloud did save Aerith. But his memories cannot meet with reality. But now he also knows that Aerith has a job to do as well. There is comfort that she will prevent Meteor and its to the team that they need to stop Sephiroth. Yes, the emotional weight is less impactful, but we are getting something totally different here. Cloud may be delusional and everything that has happened is just his imagination refusing fate. Or he's stuck between two worlds, seeing all possibilities while his friends don't get to see that same fate. They all witnessed Aerith's death, but Cloud being able to communicate with her ghost grants him far more comfort and reasons to deny what's happened.
@@Polomance862Bro, just admit it. They turned Aerith's death scene into absolute dog water. I actually think Cloud killed Aerith, not Sephiroth. Hear me out... Cloud starts out in front of Aerith. After "deflecting" Sephiroth's attack, he ends up behind her. Implying that maybe he cut through her. There'd be no reason to change positioning if he's deflecting an attack from above. Intentional or not, it seems like he dealt the killing blow. If you look at the Masamune afterwards, it's clean. Blood spills from the right-hand side and it doesn't even touch the Masamune. When Sephiroth picks up the sword, there's blood all over it. Cue the static. This is what Cloud is seeing, or at least thinks is what happened, that being Sephiroth killed Aerith. It's basically the Mandela Effect. It isn't just Cloud. Tifa and Zack suffer from this, too. Of course, in Cloud's case, it's much worse. He continues to lose his grasp on reality. Sephiroth even taunts him later asking if any of this is real. When everyone saw Aerith on the floor, they all thought Sephiroth killed her. I mean, why wouldn't they? However, Tifa's perspective kept shifting. Cue the static, again. She sees Cloud consoling Aerith, but then sees him covered in blood. His gloves, rather. Why the pool of blood was missing depending on the perspective is beyond me. In any case, no one else sees this. Except Tifa. I'm sure it'll be a key point in the third game, which has to be called Reunion. The game should've had two endings. Seems like a missed opportunity to have a QTE for such an important part of the story only for there to be one result regardless of how you do. You complete the QTE successfully, Aerith lives. You fail the QTE, Aerith dies. That's how I would've gone about it. They could deem which ending is canon and continue the story based on that.

Expect a Kingdom Hearts convulsed storyline, courtesy of Nomura. The original one was from Kazushige Nojima and Yoshinori Kitase, easily better writers than Nomura.
I missed the Aerith theme being played during Jenova boss fight. I missed the Cloud's conversation and other party members after Aerith being stabbed by Sephiroth. FF7 rebirth Aerith death scene doesn't make it memorable and unforgettable!
this game sadly makes me grow irritated about sephiroth. that same flying, same smile, same sound, same camera angle, same robotic body gestures, he comes in and get beat up then flees, then returns from your back like a stubborn jerk. Sephiroth was my favourite character and this game ruined it. I understand the change is to give a moment of suspense: did cloud save aerith? but sadly it takes away the brutality of her death and cold blooded nature of sephiroth, which was the peak of both characters' development. perhaps if the execution is better I may buy the new version. Then the music shifts too quick back and forth from aerith theme to sephiroth theme, it doesn't give enough time to absorb aerith's death. She deserves much longer moment. BTW the battle comes after the scene is important as part of the experience and it's not included in the video...
What are y talking about? Sepy literally stalked aerith to kill her in another world. He tricked cloud with an illusion of aerith. He LAUGHED at her death which admittedly he didn’t do in the OG (I don’t think). And his face when the camera shows him reeling back his sword…with blood. It’s like he truly containing his happiness at what he just done. He seems me overjoyed at what has happened; he literally repeated destiny against his hated foes and is done step closer to his goal. Sephiroth mind you is also different from the OG; he knows what’s suppose to happen and at this point has increased his power and has cloud in an even worse shape. Later on as the fight drags on, you see sephiroth for the first time telling aerith “I underestimated you.” It’s certainly not cloud because he still needs cloud to do exactly what he woulda done in OG, he hadn’t done that at all during their solo battles to cloud, it’s aerith-his look is f one of happiness, it’s surprise contemplation, annoyance, and hate. But he knows he’ll be back . The war with aerith for the souls continues on.
I wish we saw a 4K version of that implemented. Ok, you can do the whole Cloud. He thinks he saved Aerith . But recreate that Iconic moment in 4k when he snaps back to reality
I believe that what happened here is that both timelines converged for a moment. Cloud did in fact stopped Sephiroth from killing Aerith, but in that moment the timelines converged, resulting in Aerith feeling the attack, and it seems that Sephiroth may have contributed, as in one second the sword was clean, then the next was stained with blood. Everyone notices that this was reflected in Aerith as well, one moment she was covered in her blood, and then all of the sudden she wasn't, and it repeated, even Tifa noticed, confusing her as an result.
@@mettatonneoex I don't get it, you're saying that it was them in denial? Even if they were it doesn't change the fact that the timeline got glitched by Sephiroth, he did something that caused Aerith to die. And everyone noticed that something was off about the moment.
It's pretty much straight up vandalism. One is effective, unambiguous, iconic and carries the game's theme of loss. The new one is a storm of nonsense, a 12-car pile up of confusion, from start to finish, even the arbiters trying to stop Cloud approaching Aerith doesn't make sense, Cloud literally does that in the original. It is painful to see how they did almost everything great and superb with Rebirth, even things that we couldn't imagine would be included but screwed up one of the most iconic scenes in the history of videogames. In OG we can see Aerith impaled just in front of our eyes and Sephiroth slowly removing the sword with his evil smile, enjoying the pain he is inflicting. In Rebirth there is this multiverse change of realities where someone who never played OG couldn't understand how or where was Aerith really stabbed so instead of feeling pain for the brutal murder that they have just watched they will be confused about what is happening.
Wait it out... the scene is REALLY well done too in the remake, it plays with your emotions and the expectation that maybe this time she can be saved, plus we are watching this from Cloud PoV, and he is a unrealiable narrator, im pretty confident we will se her death scene for real in the next part, when his mind is fixed :V
@@cosocosoful heavily disagree with you, even people that didnt played the og were confused AF by the way this scene unfolded,it was terribly executed dude.

I prefer the original, more subtle, thus having more impact. Plus it was quite a graphic scene which only drove up the shock value, next only to Celes trying to do her best Assassin's Creed stunt. And this is just the purist in me, but White Materia not being green which is the color of the lifestream really hurts some of the essence. And the blaring loud scoring makes the tender moments lose some impact. The graphics are good, the voice acting, dialogue too I guess, but this ain't it chief
I agree with you 💯, but I thought the white materia was to cast holy, and in the end holy didn't stop comet so the souls of the planet stepped in. That's actually one change that makes more sense I think, the white materia being white and black materia being black
Tbh. Due to plot reasons, I don’t think these scenes are comparable. While the OG is meant to be about loss, the Rebirth scene is meant to be about fate/ what this new trilogy’s overall plot is about, involving multiple worlds and different choices colliding. The remake is a sequel I believe. We are not meant to feel sad this time around but wonder at this new mystery Sephiroth has wrought 2 very different things are happening. Despite similar visuals, these are not the same plot scene.
Has to be said, this version of events Sucks compared to the original, The tragedy of Aerith's death in the original is turned into some multiple universe bullshit to keep ambiguity as high as possible to try to sell as many copies of the third installment as possible, A complete travesty and an obscene disgrace to the original
2024 has too much dialogue. While 1997 delivered it in a way that captured the audience felt like it lost someone close. Aeris really died watching her eyes react as her soul left her body. 2024 pixies was just too much.
Multiverse is very profitable. They can create any story line, just slap the FF7 logo on it and people will buy it. No need to keep creating brand new story for just one game every time. Just take a look at the Spider-Man series.
@@ryanmadej6694they did confirmed but Kitase confirmed the third game isn’t going to be the same as AC. "The overall storyline, the developments, will not go wildly out in a way that will not add up to Advent Children in the end, I don't think anyone wanted that; that's not what we're looking to create here.”
I think their plan was simple. First, make you think you can rewrite her fate this time, so first showing Cloud deflecting Sephiroth's sword. But then telling you "No, the destiny didn't change THAT much" and Aerith still dies. They know you remember the sorrow in the OG game, so they weren't trying to make you feel the same thing this time but something different, like anger "I thought you'd save her SE!" and regret "Damn! Why did you show the scene where Cloud saves her if it's not real!". But then they tell you through Aerith's lines that "It's okay, Cloud (player)", and later in the dream dating scene "Whatever happens, don't blame yourself (because we intended this to still happen, something changed but not this and not now)". Come to think of it, No Promises to Keep in some ways also means that "we didn't promise you we'd save Aerith in Part 2 this time". And because it is said through Aerith, I'll believe it. So it'll be fine, Cloud will be crazy for a bit but once he gathers himself I think a lot of the twists and plots will get resolved (including Zack's timeline which is a whole other mess). Something that I'm almost certain of, the Aerith and Cloud in Zack's timeline will most certainly wake up. Not like they did in the Sector 5 dating scene, but truly wake up. I think that's what they were hinting at all along with all the "worlds part but can meet again" thing. Straightforward hope, a bit too much maybe, but at least straightforward. And unless SE wants to F around and put their entire reputation on the table, I think they'd do something about it and give players a truly good ending in the 3rd part. I certainly hope so. Aerith and Zack both went through too much as pure, uplifting, and likable characters as they are.
"Come to think of it, No Promises to Keep in some ways also means that "we didn't promise you we'd save Aerith in Part 2 this time"." Wow. Can't believe I didn't think of that.
"I think they'd do something about it and give players a truly good ending in the 3rd part. I certainly hope so. Aerith and Zack both went through too much as pure, uplifting, and likable characters as they are." Thereby undermining the themes of loss and sacrifice that the original story did so well.
Her death in Rebirth doesn't seem to carry nearly any of the same weight that the original did. When she dies in the original, we're kind of plagued with that sad song that plays even during the boss battle, whereas Rebirth immediately keeps shifting between sad and action, which doesn't keep us in the same emotional range as the original did. We also didn't expect her death in the original, which made it all the more heavy; but in Rebirth, everyone kind of knows that it might be coming...but we still don't even know if she actually died or not, which makes it even less impactful. In the original, it was kind of like, "it's official...she's gone." Here, we're like, "umm...is she gone?"
@@ullaluloo8925 Makes sense, if you remembered how Tifa saved Cloud's soul by finding and/or reconstructing his former or original memories and/or personalities in the original PSX game.

You can tell that Sephiroth wanted cloud to attack him to save Aerith so he could create another possibilities. My guesses is the more posibilities(a new timeline was created) Sephiroth created to more godlike he became aka become eternal. In short like every anime villian all Sephiroth wanted to concore fate and destinies itself. Not that im complaining.
@@mettatonneoex That means he can now rewrite any failures. If Sephiroth fail he can switch the realities/possibilities where he succeed on the spot. Like UNO reverse card. Even scarier at will.
I think I get it now. This is where the two worlds merged. Cloud is part of the world where he saved Aerith, which is why he can see her and the split in the sky at the end of Rebirth and the others in the party are part of the world where Aerith was stabbed and killed. Which is why they see her covered in blood and can no longer see her at the end of the game, nor the split in the sky.😮
The rebirth death was weak! The OG was devastating and emotional. The pain in what Cloud was saying! The emotion that was written was more than Rebirth! Rebirth is a technological marvel. Great RPG with amazing combat. But the OG story(even being rushed through at some points) is still better than these remakes!
I don't think Aerith is dead in this version. Watch the video carefully. There wasn't blood on the blade, then the zipzap begins and there was, suggest it might be what Sephiroth wanted him to see. The same goes when Sephiroth swing his sword to get the blood flying, when it reaches Cloud, the zipzap happened, but there are no blood on Cloud after. From Tifa's vision, we can see the floor and Aerith's hand toggle between blooded floor, hand; and clean floor, hand. As such, i'm quite sure Aerith didn't get stab by Sephiroth. Especially so when you sum up what Sephiroth have been doing, he always say the exact words and do teh exact thing to get Cloud choosing a different path. I don't think he actually want to kill Aerith in this timeline. In conclusion, i think Aerith might have passed out due to exhaustion from the prayer.
No she's dead. The Zipzap thingy is to show the perspective or vision of reality and illusion. Cloud had fake identity since the beginning of the game and he was pretty much living in illusion. The Jenova cells in him causes that. Aerith being alive is the vision of Cloud who is still in delusion. Aerith being dead is the vision of reality, what everyone else besides Cloud sees
I really hate the way they killed Aerith in this game. Rather than making it a very emotional and sad moment, they made it the most confusing moment in the whole game. They could've just had her killed the same way or another way but they really missed the mark on this one.
Everything from temple on feels like it was developed and written by a completely different team. Not that rebirth didn’t have its issues, but it all felt extra bad from that point on. As well as the EXTREMELY long final boss fights that were back to back to back to back to back I was ready for it to be over
I could do without all the wisps (or whatever they are) constantly flying around, I could do without the static distortion effects distracting me from what's supposed to be a heartbreaking scene. And just let them show the blood from. Stop switching back and forth from no blood to there being a pool of blood.
Original was magical and sad, I loved Aerith and her death was devastating. But in remake she is alive in different universe, so it will be interesting. Maybe she can be with Cloud or Zack 😊
No offense but I would rather see Aerith dead. She knows she gonna die and she wants to sacrifice herself for her friends and being with earth. She the one who saved Earth from the meteorite.
The og is so much better imo. The directness and shock of it, the dialogue, and of course Sephiroth's faint little smirk after he stabs her. It just hit me WAY harder than rebirth

i shouldnt warn for spoilers if ur here, but im a considerate person and cant help myself...******SPOIILEREEERRRS****** i felt sorrow at original games loss of aerith, but absolutely nothing in rebirth. i was more calculating the multi-world-like state of his mind and i felt so dumb and confused i was unable to empathize this loss, and by the time i figured it out, cloud was crazy to be able speak to her while dead so technically she never left him, which made him seem heartless to tifa and barret for being able to move on so quickly. i think they should have ended the games fights on jenova experiment and let there be a movie ending...where they cut to black after aerith gets stabbed...and the materia drop was the signal to cut to black leaving the gamers on a SUPER cliffhanger. then do all the confusing answering of what happened in the beginning of part 3 where gamers are so excited to listen, they'd be excited due to hype of games release, no ones patience would be burned.
Been play since 1997 FFVII. Can see how It happens from the Original and Rebirth about Aerith’s Death. Part 3 is going be better than Rebirth and Remake, The Meteor, Searching of Cloud and Fixing real Memories, Returning to Midgar infiltrate to Sector 8 Stopping Hojo and the Final Battle against Sephiroth.
Square now you see? The original scene is unmatched, is simply epic, nostalgic, sad and fucking hard to avoid crying...the remake is just a a pale scene that tries to mock at it...nothing like the Original!
Even if they give us the “full, proper” scene in part 3, that still doesn’t change the fact that they REALLY dropped the ball on this scene for now. No wonder Nomura said he was losing sleep over the controversial changes to this games ending; they (for now) ruined one of the most legendary scenes in gaming history.
This is what happens when you have no one to tame Nomura, when Sakaguchi was in control, he was able to take Nomura's over-complicated ideas and turn it into a timeless classic. Masters can tell complicated stories in a simple manner, Nomura on the other hand just go nuts with it. The original game was a mental patient's road to recovery and self rediscovery, Rebirth on the other hand is just Cloud getting crazier by the second and no hope of recovery...
@@davidqi5608More like you don't understand how a project like this is created. Because if you do, you won't be blaming Nomura. His vision might be a mixbag, but it wasn't him that pushed this garbage of a route. Why can't they just simply leave the game alone to it's original story line and just update the graphics. Doing this kinda crap just ruins the classic story line and the history of the game. It was 3 disks of impactful story with tragic events, what else do you need. Oh I forgot that story line isn't good enough for new players. I hate the way they redid this game.
Remember when Gold Saucer was just a small portion of the original game and the love triangle was only there to get Tifa to stand up for herself and fight for what she wants after Aerith dies? This game makes Gold Saucer and the love triangle nearly the entire game, to the detriment of everything else. Aerith had to die so Cloud and Tifa could live. Aerith can’t even die because the writers want Cloud to have a metaphysical harem.
i don't get this comment. the love triangle wasn't there "just for tifa to stand up for herself", that's like saying aerith's death as well as her bond with cloud was just collateral damage so that tifa could have character development which is not true. aerith's death has an impact on tifa and all the characters yes but death and her relationship with cloud also has a purpose in the narrative of the game, it's not just for tifa's sake. the issue is that some players think that since aerith died in the OG that meant that tifa was the only main heroine all along and they basically dismissed every interaction between cloud and aerith because in the end she died and tifa did not so tifa was somehow "more important" in their eyes. tifa is an important character and so is aerith and aerith's bond with cloud (both romantic and platonic) is and has always been important for the overall narrative. i'm not sure what they'll do in part 3 or how they'll develop the "love triangle" further but regardless, both girls and their bonds with cloud are important regardless of who you personally ship romantically. the love triangle exists bc the devs decided to make it a thing and let the player have options and make their own personal interpretations based on their choices, not because it was all for tifa.
The og is still better more involvement with your party members where Cloud draws his sword and is gonna stab Aerith and whoever is in your party shouts at Cloud that he's either lost his mind, what is he doing or don't do it, the the death cutscene happens. Overall the impact of the OG is better.
If this was the entire scene, I totally prefer the dialog from the original with Cloud talking the same time while Sephiroth was rambling. Him saying how he couldn't feel his face and his hands were numb. Something along those lines, instead of him and her getting to share a moment or whatever.
This alt timeline nonsense hurts the game. Just remake the original events, I wanted Cloud's sorrow and his speech, the water burial, that very ominous song that plays when you enter the capital... how the fuck do you miss on each?
What is this sh*t? They just ruined a perfect scene, what a bunch of idiots. The strenght of the old scene was its straightforwardness. Sephirot descend and kills her, and you can't do nothing abouut it. She is dead, you failed annd you have to keep on living with that. It was the sense of the game to overcome a loss by learning that you can't really overcome it, you just find new way of living knowing that evryone is unique an irreplaceable. This new scene is all too comforting, you fight to save her and they show you an alternative universe wherre she is alive, also they do not show you her death. i hate those new politics, they think we are so soft nowadays, but the beauty of those old titles was that they weren't afraid to scare people and that's why after 30 years people still love this game. Also the dialogues where far better in the old version. What a shame.
I love the original one that she just dies without any sort of effect, just a stab. And that's quite a disappointing point that they remade it a bit messy. Still, love those both game equally, cannot wait for Remake Part 3
Why would you spoil the biggest part with the title? I mean, we all knew what happened in the original, but this was meant to keep everyone on the edge of their seat wondering if it could be different.
The director of the game really wanted fans to debate on whats going on. And they truly achieved it. Hmmm i wld have accepted that aerith used lifestream to appear herself to Cloud but now they are introducing different timelines so the possibility that a different Aerith stepped in..urgh the ending where Cloud stuck the black materia onto his sword really got me tho
Okay, everyone is now in chaos of what's going on. But the question is, is this all really necessary? Half of the fanbase just wants to see FFVII in a new light, not fight one another on who's right or wrong. And this doesn't even do justice about the newcomers of the franchise, because they are not gonna see a pure version of what happened.
Oh, they are definitely not killing her. With all the multiverse/timeline crap they are setting, it's obvious they are gonna come up with something to keep her around. I mean, why'd they do this otherwise? If they're gonna end up with "but no matter the universe, she was always destined to die!", then they should have not bothered to add all of the spectacle and stick to the original story. It's much more engaging than this bullshit.
Did you know, Evangelion had come out at the time, because Hideki Anno was disillusioned and believed kids needed to learn lessons on life death and depression early on. There was also The Land Before Time, The Lion King, etc... The lessons for kids taught in the original was of life, loss and doing what needs to be done. The Remake now they can say naughty rated R words, yet can't stick to the point, life and loss, it's very very strange, because kids movies and FF7 were doing this, and Remake seems like it can't find it's footing as to its demographic. I agree with Anno, kids need to be exposed to and understand pain and suffering early on, and through entertainment, it helps as a mechanism of emotional and spiritual reflection. So, with that said, we can see that Rebirth is pretty bad and feels like cheap fanfiction, but the pretty high budget graphics can hypnotize is for a little while
@astrahcat1212 On the contrary, they're going be to exploring a deeper understanding of grief. There is a reason why Cloud's dialogue was omitted, there's a reason why we couldn't see Cloud lowering Aerith down the pool. A reason why that her death didnt affect him at all... and most importantly why it didnt affect US. Cloud is 100% in denial bro. Capital "D" Dabda of the 5 stages of grief. We arent sad the same way he isnt, we thought she didnt die. In the OG we were simply the audience. In Rebirth, we might just quite literally be Cloud. We will get all those sappy montages, that Nubuo Uematsu original sadness inducing music, the real event that took place in that forgotten capital in a scene or event in part 3 that Cloud will finally capital "A" Accept that truth of her death. Exploring the underrated side to grief almost never touched upon in Videogame media. Hopefully anyway as it happens I have an Omori pfp lmao, its coincidence trust me
@@xestalfer5774 I understand where you come from. To display Cloud's denial by making him still see Aerith after her death is pretty interesting way to explore his grief. The problem is all the other convoluted aspects that are mixed in this. The alternate universes, the ghosts, like what exactly do these things add to this moment; hell, what do they add to the overall theme of the story? Just confusion? We might eventually get a decent explanation for this but for me it really dilutes what the game is trying to say. And if the devs are indeed planning to add the "sappy" moments down the road, then that would be terrible storytelling imo. THIS is the moment where grief is felt at its most intense, it's the moment where we see the impact of her death by watching how the other characters react to it. It's what makes this moment so emblematic.
@cordata008 I believe plot ghosts couldve been better implemented. For me, the decision to remake ff7 to not be 1 for 1 is the devs intention to celebrate it with the veteran fans and not just newcomers. By the end of remake veterans have this intrigue that Aerith might live (for better or worse, but the point is her fate being not so conclusive) so instead of a 1 for 1 remake where veterans alredy the accepts the fact. They instead relive the ptsd in real time, vets and newcomers included. But again the plot ghosts couldve been executed much better. They have evidently made the forgotten capital part into an "event" or "plot device". Because for the longest time even for fans, that whole sequence stuck with them. You see her pose and the background and the OG cutscene and you go "Yoo! Its the thing! He's doing the thing!" you remember the scene as both the shock of killing *and* the sad death itself. So its hard to be sad as someone who's alredy seen it before. So I think its good that they separate the killing part and the grief part. The real exploration of grief, wherein everyone gets to react to it is later on the 3rd game, where its all going to be built up much better maybe to the point of hammering it in your face (provided it is executed well) If it is true that Advent Children connects to Remake trilogy then Cloud being so emo by AC would transition much better if that impact he had was all towards the end. Because originally, it was FF7, then she dies, he moseys, pretty much snowboarded and move on but then he all of the sudden acted like he never moved on from her death by AC So i say let them cook This might all just be copium on my part but either this is the final approach of a long build up or this is the only realistic way to salvage it, after thinking long and hard about it
@@xestalfer5774 I'm with you. I'm not against a retelling of the OG story. I remember listening/reading a comment made by Nomura (I think) saying that he wondered whether killing Aerith off was the right choice. A game focusing on that idea would be very, very interesting to me and I believe that's the direction they are going with the remake. But they way they are going about it is not sitting well with me. It's as if they want to keep the OG's story but then they add all these elements that complicate the story without improving it. Like think about it; you "get shocked" by these new plot twists ONLY if you have played the OG. Otherwise it's just a confusing mess. Remake just doesn't deviate enough from the original to stand on its own feet. "its hard to be sad as someone who's alredy seen it before" to you perhaps LOL. I still get misty eyed when I replay that part heh. Speaking of which, I had forgotten about the devs' intentions to connect Cloud's grief in AC with the original. If they intend to leave Cloud heartbroken and lost at then end of the trilogy; well, that doesn't sound like a satisfying end for Cloud (and Tifa) story arc, don't you think? Even worse, the ending might feel incomplete since the "real" resolution of the game is in the movie. I'm being a bit too pessimistic perhaps but after seeing what they have done so far, I'm unsure they will deliver a good story (still curious tho!)

Aerith death scene
When Cloud reaches Aerith watch as he walks through the whispers, pay attention, it’s like he is walking into worlds, do you see how it flashes, new world, OG world. When Cloud reaches Aerith and the camera angle looks down at Aerith, pause, zoom in, her hair tie is pink. Watch as Aerith is opening her eyes as the feather falls, look at the color of her hair tie it’s purple.
It was Aerith destiny to die in the OG world and she did, creating a new world means she can change her destiny and she did.

the bit scary thing about the Remake timeline version is that the reason why we do not see the stab is only because we are seeing it from Cloud's perspective which currently he is complete denial so he made up this entire fake scenario where he did block it in his head strong enough that he actually believes it happened.
That or S-E wussed out on showing the details (this is the same S-E that couldn't show Celes getting punched in the FFVI Pixel Remaster...)
The scenario isn't fake. A new timeline emerged when he crossed the fate barrier. When the worlds merged cloud can see the aerith he saved.
The aerith he's seeing is the aerith who kept on talking to him in advent children.
Boo hoo someone get me my violin

The crack in the sky is visible in Zack's world, which later becomes visible in Cloud's world, but only Cloud (And Aerith) can perceive it as being there.

Men it's so disappointing to see Cloup parry Sephiroth's blade, to realize that "no no you're still screwed, I don't know how, but she's still wounded to death".
And not get to see the stabbing either. It's part of what adds to the scene.
I think they did a great job re opening the old wound us players got in 97
Yeah, they did everything perfectly, they managed to make her death surprising with all the "will we be able to save Aerith?" Marketing and this fake-out, and everything was going extremely well, untill they decided to throw the whole Zack and Cloud + Aerith's ghost vs Sephiroth Multiverse spectacle that completely fucked the scene.
They should've kept things minimalistical and faithful as possible to the original in this moment even with the Cloud denial thing, even if it meant ending the game without an epic final boss, i doubt that people would be mad at it considering her death, everything would end in a less convoluted and more dark way.
If Aeris lived, we wouldn’t have the Advent Children timeline lol
I actually think they did an incomprehensibly bad job here. It’s kind of a fake out, but it’s also kind of not. Signs point to her actually still being alive in some alternate universe, and you have no time to mourn Aerith, because immediately after her “death” there’s a 10 phase boss battle. They honestly just said “how can we kill Aerith, and not kill Aerith” and went with that.
It was brilliant, I thought she was gonna be saved
Why'd they make it so confusing and dumb. The ghosts just seem like a filler element that didn't need to be included.
Pretty much, all they do is convolute the story when the story is the same (at this point).
@@incendiesproductions I understand the story from the original but you'd have no idea of what that was supposed to be without playing Final Fantasy 7 OG. i take regarding your comment that you didn't play rebirth, and that explains why you wouldn't get what they're trying to do. it's completely confused, and that's the point! that's why it's so genius. everyone knows Aerith dies. some people wanted her to survive, and some wanted her to die. and what did they do? they gave something else (symbolized by the choices in the in-between worlds towards the end when you chose a candy or a necklace; Cloud wants this, Aerith wants that, and you'll get something else anyway).
She will never talk… never… never smile… cry… or get angry… ever again…”
2024 Rebirth Cloud: “lol Alright Aerith. I’ll see you later 🤪 “
The writing is sooooo bad.

Given Cloud's position after the stab I think it's safe to say he was swinging at a hallucination Sephiroth while the real one got Aerith.
Which was a clever takeout to me since this is the first time I've seen it. Heartbreaking but a great way to bypass censorship 😆
I read yours so I hope you do the same
Aerith death scene
When Cloud reaches Aerith watch as he walks through the whispers, pay attention, it’s like he is walking into two worlds, do you see how it flashes, new world, OG world. When Cloud reaches Aerith and the camera angle looks down at Aerith, pause, zoom in, her hair tie is pink. Watch as Aerith is opening her eyes as the feather falls, look at the color of her hair tie it’s purple.
New world: As Cloud approached Aerith is once again laying on her back, the whispers are flying around, Cloud walks through the whispers and the others disappear, he asks Aerith to wake up she does.

this game sadly makes me grow irritated about sephiroth. that same flying, same smile, same sound, same camera angle, same robotic body gestures, he comes in and get beat up then flees, then returns from your back like a stubborn jerk.

I believe that what happened here is that both timelines converged for a moment. And Sakaguchi was the one who almost bankrupt Square did you forget about that part??
I don't understand where the confusion is. Just from this scene alone, it's very obvious Cloud is blocking out her death.
"Come to think of it, No Promises to Keep in some ways also means that "we didn't promise you we'd save Aerith in Part 2 this time"."

"I think they'd do something about it and give players a truly good ending in the 3rd part. I certainly hope so. Aerith and Zack both went through too much as pure, uplifting, and likable characters as they are."
Thereby undermining the themes of loss and sacrifice that the original story did so well.

Or as I like to call it. He did a Sonic and The Black Knight Reference by wanting to make an Eternal Timeline (Eternity). A true FINAL FANTASY (7)

Crazy how a game from 1997 has way much more emotion then the remake from 2024
I think I get it now.
😂
No she's dead. The Zipzap thingy is to show the perspective or vision of reality and illusion. Cloud had fake identity since the beginning of the game and he was pretty much living in illusion. The Jenova cells in him causes that. Aerith being alive is the vision of Cloud who is still in delusion. Aerith being dead is the vision of reality, what everyone else besides Cloud sees
Denial
I really hate the way they killed Aerith in this game. Rather than making it a very emotional and sad moment, they made it the most confusing moment in the whole game.
They could've just had her killed the same way or another way but they really missed the mark on this one.
My god are you all that stupid? Its pretty clear.. and i still cried..
Everything from temple on feels like it was developed and written by a completely different team. Not that rebirth didn’t have its issues, but it all felt extra bad from that point on. As well as the EXTREMELY long final boss fights that were back to back to back to back to back
I was ready for it to be over
I could do without all the wisps (or whatever they are) constantly flying around, I could do without the static distortion effects distracting me from what's supposed to be a heartbreaking scene. And just let them show the blood from. Stop switching back and forth from no blood to there being a pool of blood.
Sephiroth: Your tears are empty
Cloud: THEY ARE REAL TO ME!!!!
@@tiffanyillig48 there are three timeline. She can be alive in One?
The og is so much better imo. The directness and shock of it, the dialogue, and of course Sephiroth's faint little smirk after he stabs her. It just hit me WAY harder than rebirth

i shouldnt warn for spoilers if ur here, but im a considerate person and cant help myself...******SPOIILEREEERRRS******
i felt sorrow at original games loss of aerith, but absolutely nothing in rebirth. i was more calculating the multi-world-like state of his mind and i felt so dumb and confused i was unable to empathize this loss, and by the time i figured it out, cloud was crazy to be able speak to her while dead so technically she never left him, which made him seem heartless to tifa and barret for being able to move on so quickly.
i think they should have ended the games fights on jenova experiment and let there be a movie ending...where they cut to black after aerith gets stabbed...and the materia drop was the signal to cut to black leaving the gamers on a SUPER cliffhanger. then do all the confusing answering of what happened in the beginning of part 3 where gamers are so excited to listen, they'd be excited due to hype of games release, no ones patience would be burned.
this is so depressing she was my favorite
Hope she comes back & marries Cloud 😢
Except, this isn't apparently Nomura's work

@@ugh5281 ignore the dude,he doesnt know what hes talking bout, bringing "harem" to ff7 is r3tard3d , he doesnt eve know what harem means.
The og is still better more involvement with your party members where Cloud draws his sword and is gonna stab Aerith and whoever is in your party shouts at Cloud that he's either lost his mind, what is he doing or don't do it, the the death cutscene happens. Overall the impact of the OG is better.
The original scene is so sad and good that the remake didn't even bother to try it again.
If this was the entire scene, I totally prefer the dialog from the original with Cloud talking the same time while Sephiroth was rambling. Him saying how he couldn't feel his face and his hands were numb. Something along those lines, instead of him and her getting to share a moment or whatever.
i think he did say those lines in rebirth too. you can see him speaking something when it was all glitching rapidly.
Blame America's ESRB softness for that 🤷♂️

I love the original one that she just dies without any sort of effect, just a stab. And that's quite a disappointing point that they remade it a bit messy.

Just get rid of those black and white fate ghost things i think they are pointless and confusing.
Lowkey felt like the devs just wanted to an excuse to censor Aerith getting impaled
Truly the death scene of all time
Almost. "The ship. Out of danger?"
"You still owe me a pizza"
Is obviously that Aerith dies, but Square Enix for some reason, want to keep suspense, because they know Aerith is money..
Why would you spoil the biggest part with the title? I mean, we all knew what happened in the original, but this was meant to keep everyone on the edge of their seat wondering if it could be different.
Anything for fucking views. Fucking piece of shit.
Does that make the real Aerith getting killed again by Seporiah. Because we see Aerith real body in a coma.
Wow, im lost. So Aerith spirit is alive in cloud's timeline world but her body is alive in zack's timeline world?
She is dead in the main world but alive in zack's, we will have to wait for part 3
@@mikelobito1541 How do we know she's alive in Zack's? Doesn't the intermission dlc confirm she isn't their either?
That "no" Cloud shouts is the no of millions of millions of fans over the course of almost 30 years.
Hopefully anyway
as it happens I have an Omori pfp lmao, its coincidence trust me
@@xestalfer5774 I understand where you come from.
Because originally, it was FF7, then she dies, he moseys, pretty much snowboarded and move on but then he all of the sudden acted like he never moved on from her death by AC
So i say let them cook
This might all just be copium on my part but either this is the final approach of a long build up or this is the only realistic way to salvage it, after thinking long and hard about it
@@xestalfer5774 I'm with you.
I'm being a bit too pessimistic perhaps but after seeing what they have done so far, I'm unsure they will deliver a good story (still curious tho!)
did you guys removed Aerith equipment and materia on her already? 😢
We'll really have to wait to see it in the third part.
Time is split in half. So pretty much, Cloud can wake up to other self. Which is weird so Aerith can too. 3rd game is gonna be Chrono Trigger
