  • Liquid Moss Out - Does it work? In the Pacific Northwest, we have a big problem with moss in our lawns. In the early spring, it is especially bad. I go over an easy to find product you can find in your local big box store to quickly kill the moss in your lawn. I purchased these items myself at the local Lowes store. I also go over how to prevent moss from coming back.

I used the liquid version and was amazed how fast it works and to use caution arround concrete. Thanks for the video .

    The northwest lime question is different also because of low light on the coast and constant rain.
    Dolopril and other super fine pelleted calcium wash past the root zone fast.
    A product from Pacific Calcium in Tonasket Washington called White Cloud is coarse ground, sieved dolomite and lasts much longer but is very slow release.
    A mix of quicker and slower has worked well for me in south west Canada.

    One thing I would recommend if it’s in an established lawn is dethatching and using something like the SunJoe first and it will pull much of the moss out even though it isn’t dead. Then when your done spray the moss out to kill anything that might be left and for further prevention. Just another approach

    • @PacificNorthwestLawns

    • @PacificNorthwestLawns
      @PacificNorthwestLawns  3 года назад

      Yes it's too early. It'll just continue to grow. Tackle it about mid April. Overseeding in the spring isn't extremely successful but not impossible. Our soil temperatures don't normally rise to 55* until may. You're far better off overseeding in late summer or early fall. Usually the first week of September.

    Live in pnw and have some moss on my lawn. I was just wondering can I just hand dig it out? Would that hurt the grass that are around it. And if I do dig it out, can I use fertilizer to help grass grow and prevent moss to grow back? I just don't want that appearance of dead moss on lawn after spraying. I use milogranite throughout the year and just wondering if the iron in that is enough to prevent further moss development.

    • @PacificNorthwestLawns
      @PacificNorthwestLawns  2 года назад +1

      You won't really need to dig as it doesn't really have a root system. You can pull it by hand or rake it up. Whatever is easiest for you. You definitely want to fertilize and push the grass growth to fill back in. Honestly, I'm not a fan of Milorganite as its very high in phosphorus (you're literally applying .5 pounds of P per 1k sq ft at the bag rate) and our soil is generally already high in phosphorus. Regardless, Iron will help to kill the moss but iron doesn't prevent moss from growing. You likely have another issue such as low pH, poor drainage, too much shade, etc that's encouraging the moss to grow. It's still too early in the year to address it just yet anyway. Early spring is best. Around April 1.

    The moss dies, turns black and very tough to remove. Don't call it OUT!

      It's actually really easy to remove as it has no root system. Most you can peel up by hand but a rake or a thatch rake makes easy work of it.
