That breath that Sandor takes after Arya saying “thank you”… in my opinion, is him being released of all the bad, and someone finally acknowledging the help, the lessons, the risking of his life for them.. everything he does even though it may be bad, is released and gives him that final push he needs to say “I’m going to die here today, but it’s okay because it was all worth it”. Man that shit slaps. Even the tiniest little detail such as a breath can invoke such emotion out of a viewer such as myself. This show may have dragged ass a little bit but man I tell you, it was great.

I like how Arya said thank you, and even called him Sandor, he was a dirty, grungy brute full of hate, but he saved her many times and practically took over the role of her father. They both had a mutual respect regardless of how bitter they could be to one another. The Hound is one of my favorite characters from the show, very good character arc, you start off hating him and then rooting for him as he becomes a better person throughout his trials. Jamie was similar, from the ending of the pilot you hated everything about him until you start to see his humanity come out when he’s with Brienne, especially once he goes back and saves her from the bear. Once you see how he’s the only one in his family with love for Tyrion, you really start to like him more and more.

She pretty, yes, but so negative, hateful and nasty. I don’t even believe she loved Jaime, she didn’t treat him like it once he returned with one hand. And also it caused Cersei such an easy death she didn’t deserve. 7.9 seasons of buildup dreaming of all the ways she could be brutally killed, and then splat.

The Hound was a good man trapped in a world where to be such a thing was a curse. The world broke him long before we started following him through out the show. What he is when we first see him is the jaded shell of a little boy whose introduction to the real world was his older brother shoving his face into a fire place.
He takes Arya as ward not because he gives a shit but because she is useful. A bargaining chip in case opportunities arise. We see their relationship turn from grudging tolerance to respect. Not quite love. But a father daughter responsibility. With a fair amount of spite.
He almost escapes it all. Left for dead and dying in the muck in the middle of nowhere. Except he is Saved by another lost soul who found hope again, Hound finds something akin to peace. But the world isn’t done with him and it finds him. He falls back on his habits. Brutality and hate and vengeance.
But as he’s chasing this he finds Arya again. Grown and deadly. Now a comrade in hate. They set off to kill their respective sources of the pain they have been given.
But on the cusp of his revenge Hound pauses. And the last ember of the good man he could have been resurfaces. He gives Arya the best advice he can. Let it go. Don’t be like him. He’s too far gone but she isn’t.
The last good thing he can do. Save an angry young woman from embracing the same darkness he smothered himself in. Because he finally cares enough about someone else.
    It’s beautiful.

He becomes gentle with her and its him, the man she's vowed to murder, who temporarily returns her to an innocence Sansa lost so tragically in season one. He redeems himself in saving her life, not just physically but spiritually. And when she thanks him using his given name, her eyes are welling up with tears not only because of what The Hound has said to her, but because the hound is going to his death, killing his tormentor abd hers, The Mountain. The first person she ever put on her list. The dynamics of their relationship throughout the series fascinated me.
