Nice, mods, i bought my 22 reg with all the mods on already+outback rack system. ive fitted the rade tank/filter as well. Ive Just changed out all the plastics and guards for secondhand/acerbis/polisport ones though. Cost less than £200 for everything. Dropping and scraping it regularly on the 'tets' around my area i can breath with the knowledge that i have the original oem plastics safely in my garage.

Yeah it’s worthwhile changing your plastics if possible to protect the originals. The riding I do is steady away, not too challenging so thankfully I haven’t damaged the bike yet. I did damage my first 701…but that’s a different story! 😂

Recently bought a 2021 701E with 12k miles on it for a good price. The rear side panels were a bit dirty and scratched up from carrying soft bags on the bike, so I ordered both rear side panels and the white rear fender panel. When I got the new ones I checked that they fit right, then put them back in the plastic bags and boxes they arrived in for safekeeping. I drilled the holes in the old side panels and rear fender to mount a set of Outback Motorsports pannier racks, and then mounted a set of small hard cases from Harbor Freight (Apache 3800) on those racks. Those and a tank bag is perfect for day rides. For extended trips I’ll get another set of larger cases and have a waterproof dry-bag to strap across the top. Can’t see the scratched panels at all with the bags on! 😂

@@1wheeldrive751 Twelve thousand miles on a 21 plate is nothing, it obviously hasn’t been abused. Mines done 9000 and a bit on a 22 plate and I think it runs and sounds better than it did when it was new. You’ll love the bike, is it lowered or the full height? I had the suspension lowered on mine before I took delivery as it was just a bit too tall for me to feel confident on it. I use the Mosko Moto bags on mine, they have some decent cushioning on the reverse side so the panels don’t get damaged but if they ever did I would do what you have done and buy some replacements, I’ve never priced them up but I suspect they won’t be too expensive?
Congratulations on getting the bike, I’m sure you’ll really joy it. 👍

    • @1wheeldrive751
      @1wheeldrive751 3 месяца назад

@@701Adventures - no, not lowered. I’m a big guy (6’2” - 220 lbs) so I can use the full height. I checked my dynamic sag and I’m just on the high side of spec. Won’t even need to respring. But I feel the HS compression damping on the shock is too much for dual sporting. Might have to get the shock worked on.
The new panels from KTM were surprisingly affordable. About $45 US each. Most other manufacturers it would be twice that

Have done many of the same or similar mods to my 701 down to the AXP skid plate and crash bars. The lower temp 80/85C temp KTM radiator fan switch is on my workbench. Already installed a Rottweiler fuel dongle and O2 sensor eliminator and a Twin Air foam filter kit. A Power Commander 5 from Rottweiler with their map loaded on it is currently in transit.
Not sure about the bikes over there, but the US models are set up very lean and richening the part throttle fueling helps them run cooler and stronger. The madness continues, these bikes are rewarding to mod and personalize!

    Thanks! Very nice looking bike!
Ive got the 2021 KTM orange version, only just got it so various parts are filtering in.
Seat Concepts seat just on general purposes @ 440.00 frikken US dollars..............hope it fits.
Lowering these bikes is VERY popular, Ive got the lowering link, waiting for a shorter super moto kickstand to show up.
Im 6 foot tall but still, when bike is loaded it would be very tricky getting on and off.
Its funny, I can reach the ground on 690 OK, on my 890R I can get off and on easy, but only one foot can touch down.
Not good off road at U turn time in a tight area. Riding is fine its just the non moving moments.
Vanasche is nice but holy jeeze are they proud of their bits. I had a Mosko Moto Nomex tank bag, pricey! Sold it directly, too complicated, too many moving pieces, too easy to lose stuff in. 7 layers to dig thru................I found myself avoiding even touching it out on rides. It looked cool. The Pico is rather cute!
Cool bikes, Ive hardly ridden mine yet. Weather has been very wet here in nor cal.

Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. I've stuck with the standard seat, it's not too bad when you get used to it. If I hadn't have lowered this bike I'd never be able to ride it, it's a very tall bike indeed! The Vanasche parts are pricy but they seem really good quality, I think they're based in California aren't they? The Pico tank bag is big enough for basic stuff, wallet, keys, phone etc. I use the Mosko Moto Reckless 80 system if I'm going on a trip but usually just stick with the Pico. Hopefully the weather will improve for you soon and you can put some miles on your 690 👍

Ha, yes if you want to add loads of extras the cost can shoot up but you have to remember all the extras I've added are personal bits I've chosen to add. The bear essentials I would say you need are adventure pegs, hand protectors and a decent bash plate.
Thankfully although I've dropped it on the trails it's always been at a slow speed so no damage caused. Also I believe the plastics are very cheap because they are just coloured plastic, not painted but sometimes a few battle scars on an Enduro bike can look cool. 😂

@@701Adventures yeah but your windshield was also a piece of plastic but not for free. Still thinking if it's a money for nothing or something worth that pain.

*didn't mean to be mean by saying "nothing" but I have an impression that 70% of capabilities of this bike is not used by the average buyer.

@@Anton-dl7me I'm sure I don't use the bike to anything like it's full potential but neither I suspect do those individuals who spend nearly £100k on a Landrover Defender and use it for the school run and the weekly trip to Tescos.
I've done a bit of off roading on the 701, plus done tours on it etc. The lightness of the bike is appealing to me with my dodgy back as I was finding my heavy GSA too difficult to manoeuvre occasionally 👍

For once I think your comment about the first service charge was unmotivated - they replace two oil filters and O-rings plus two oil screens and change the oil. If you were serious about servicing the bike you would have done an initial service yourself after 300 miles - the amount of particles and crud accumulated on the oil filters and screens after only 300 miles is horrendous. By 600 miles the amount of crap circulating through the engine is definitely not conducive to long life. Save money on the bling and do your own servicing🕊️

I do not want to do my own servicing on a new bike for the simple reason it will not accumulate any service history.

I changed oil on my 690R at home, there was zero crud on the magnetic drain plug, or in the screens or filters.
None at all. Which almost surprised me, there is usually some little bits from break in running.
If there is crud, thats what the filters and screens are for, the bits dont keep circulating.
Ive heard of guys having 30,000 miles on this new model 690 engine and still no adjustment needed on valves.
